  1. Agreed...I would not be OK with Nassib at #8 overall whatsoever...Especially because I like Manuel a LOT more than Nassib...Especially when projecting 2-3 years down the road...
  2. I can see that...Thing is giving up picks when you only have 6 to start with, and more needs than picks, kinda makes me cringe...But if they really hit on the first 4 players they Drafted it would be OK I guess...I just want more picks...Not less...If they were to trade back in the 1st, and somehow come away with Austin and EJ Manuel with the first two picks...I would be very happy...Easier said than done though...Right?
  3. Exactly...Well put...
  4. It's just not a smart team-building move...Especially when you don't have a Franchise-caliber QB yet...You only have 6 picks as it is...If the Bills had 12 picks I might feel differently about adding Austin...You can't Draft everyone you like...It's impossible...But if Drafting Austin means I have zero chance of getting EJ Manuel...Then I don't want him...And that's exactly what I think Drafting Austin would cost the Bills this year...A chance at a better QB than you're going to be able to get in the 2nd Round or later...It's just my opinion...But that's how I see it...
  5. And as good as Austin has been at WVU, CJ was better at Clemson...Bigger, just as fast (probably a little faster), just as quick, and better...
  6. Grabbing a 2014 1st round pick would be very nice! As long as you can add something this year...Even if it's only a 3rd or 4th round pick...
  7. I simply want the Bills to get EJ Manuel any way they can...If they feel safe trading down then great...But if they feel he will be gone, and they have to grab him at #8, so be it... I'm all in on EJ Manuel...I like his upside better than Geno Smith...And I've been a pretty big Geno supporter over these past few months...I would be happy with Geno at #8 as well...
  8. You're 100% right about this...Austin is a player and he's been very durable...I just don't like him for the Bills at this point in time...But I do like him as a player...
  9. There is no questioning Austin's ability...And he may very well be a top 15 pick...But for a team with desperate needs in so many other areas, the Bills simply cannot afford a luxury pick like Austin in the 1st round...Picks like that are exactly what keep Franchises wallowing in mediocrity for years and years... Austin is the type of player you go after aggressively when you feel you're that single dimension away from being a Championship contender...Not when you have no idea who your #2 WR is going to be, you have huge needs at LB, TE, OG, and most important of all you have a poor Depth Chart at QB... Honestly...I have to say...If the Bills trade down and grab a bunch of extra picks, then get Austin, I could give them a pass...Though I still think it's unwise...I don't like the strategy at all...I'm already on record not liking Warmack, or Jarvis Jones to The Bills in the 1st...But I would welcome either one of those two over Austin at this time...I just don't think it's a good idea at all...
  10. Wow! Good read... NFL comparison - Colin Kaepernick...That's a strong endorsement...
  11. That would be great Astro! I would rather the Jets take that risk for sure...That's a win/win in my book!!!
  12. No offense...But I'm really not digging this type of plan at all... In a Draft that almost everyone with an opinion says is thin on elite talent, but very long on overall depth, why hold on to #8 and then trade away picks later? So you're plan would be to have only 5 Draft picks for a team with holes all over the roster in a Draft that is considered to be one of the deepest Drafts in a long, long time? I don't get it? The Bills need more picks...Not less...I think, especially the way this Draft is supposed to be talent-wise, it's much smarter to trade back and collect picks...Because outside of the three top OT's, Sharrif Floyd, and Dion Jordan there are no elite prospect in this Draft...If the experts are right, the difference between the player Drafted at #8 and #28 is going to be minimal...But even more importantly the difference in the player Drafted at #8 and #48 will be less this year than in most Drafts...And that's why you want more picks not less...
  13. Hate to keep disagreeing Astro...But I don't think Jarvis Jones is on the Bills list at all...I doubt he's on any teams list as a top 10 pick... Now that does not mean Jones will not turn out to be a good NFL OLB in a 3-4...Jones was an elite College OLB...No question about it...But he has some major strikes against him that will push him down the Draft board...He's a REAL high risk prospect when you are talking about a top 10 pick...Teams want players that are SUPER clean when we're talking about top 10...They want clean health, and they want plus side on height, size, and speed...Lastly they want excellent production at the College level...Jones can check off the production box...And that's it... The 1st strike against Jones is the possible medical issues with his spine...Then he supposedly had a hammy at his workout...The second strike is the terrible 40 times he ran...Granted he could have been dinged up...But when you run in the 4.95 range there is absolutely no way to convince scouts that you're really a 4.6 guy when healthy...Just no way...The 3rd strike is the fact that he is a smaller-tweener type...If you consider Demarcus Ware to be the prototype size for a hybrid OLB...Ware's about 6-4-260...Jones is 6-2-245...So Jones is two inches smaller and 15 lbs lighter than ideal ...Plus slower...Plus the medicals...Too much risk for the top 10...I would be flat out shocked if Jones went in the 1st 15 picks...Most GM's will let other teams take the risk, or wait it out till Jones is available at a point where he becomes a bargain despite his drawbacks...
  14. Mark my words Matthieu will not get out of the 3rd Round..I would bet almost anything on that...And there is a very good chance one team will take him late in the 2nd...It only takes one...And teams are falling in love with the package he brings...Pot smoking aside of course...
  15. I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell the Bills will Draft Jarvis Jones at #8 overall... I could be wrong...But I just don't see it...Maybe in a trade down...But not at #8 overall...
  16. I tried to point this out in another post...And I'm not defending Buddy either because I think Buddy sucks...But anyway, not Drafting OG's high is certainly NOT a Buddy Nix exclusive philosophy...Davis DeCastro went #24 overall last year after being touted by some scouts as the best player in the entire Draft not named Luck...OG is generally viewed as a position where you get better value in the 2nd Round and on ...It's like Daniel Jeremiah said yesterday...While he was a Scout for Baltimore in 2007 they Drafted OG Ben Grubbs in the 1st Round and he turned out to be a pretty good OG...But the same year the Raven Drafted OG Marshal Yanda in the 3rd Round, and he turned out to be even better than Grubbs...So...They're OG's...You can find very good ones later in the Draft...There is zero need to Draft one high...And most GM's understand that...
  17. I don't know if it's going out on a limb or not...But I think Jones has a bit of a slide in his future...I would not be surprised at all if it turns into a Courtney Upshaw-type slide...Jones may very well turn into an excellent NFL player...But the question marks surrounding him will push him down on most boards...A player like Jones is a bargain in the late 1st-early 2nd...But a risk high in the 1st...I just don't think teams will be willing to take that risk...We'll see though... B-)
  18. I heard Todd McShay today on ESPN Radio and he said Lotulelei is completely cleared...He said the proof is he was not called back to the Combine for a medical re-check...Not coincidentally McShay said he has Star going to to Philly at #4... I think in the OP scenario you presented it will be awfully tough for the Bills to pass on Dion Jordan...I've been thinking about a trade down to get a QB for a while now...But I love, love, love Jordan...That's a tough one...
  19. Very true...This is Buddy's Scouting Dept...He's been the man in charge now for years...I think at least some of Nix's philosophies have taken hold...Listen to what Whaley said last year when asked about Cordy Glenn...He pretty much repeated Buddy's stance word for word...The Bills Draft College OT's, if they can't play OT in the NFL, they move them inside...But not taking an OG high is certainly not a Nix-exclusive philosophy...You have to look no further than the 2012 Draft where a highly rated, and a highly hyped David DeCastro went #24 overall...Some felt DeCastro was the highest rated player not named Luck in that entire Draft...But he's an OG...So... There are teams like Tennessee who value OG's higher obviously...And they may even take Warmack or Cooper in the 1st...But I don't see it for the Bills...I think they would take Lane Johnson, or D.J. Fluker, before either OG if they go O-Line...And I doubt they go O-Line anyway...
  20. Well...That made me want Manuel even more...As if that was possible...
  21. Preferably trade down, get an additional 2nd round pick minimum...Draft EJ Manual with the 1st Round Pick...Robert Woods and a LB in the 2nd...That would be my preference...
