NFL get rid of instant replay
reddogblitz replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes and no. Isn't the whole point of instant replay to get the calls right? If one bad call blatantly happens that can change the game, maybe they need to modify the rules to allow for some guy in a sports bar with no rooting interest call it. I mean come on, it was blatant. We have all the technology and goofy rules for it, but when we really need it, we can't use it. Maybe this is where the conspiracy stuff comes in? -
How da hell does this happen in America?
reddogblitz replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think one reason is they all know that they could fug up on the job any day and shoot someone by mistake. They don't want to go to jail for a mistake and they are all in it together. So when one shoots someone they all cover for him/her because next time it could be them. ExiledInIllinois may back me up on this, but its like if you're in a boat and some other boater is in trouble, you help them because next time it could be you. -

They don't have to have good aim to shoot in 3 shot bursts at someone less than 5 or 10 feet away. It's obvious to me after years and years and years of these things (it's not new) is that cops don't shoot you once in the leg so you can't get away, they fire multiple shots at a time. And enough of them are good enough at it to hit on multiple shots. -
I Don't LOVE or HATE Josh Allen. I judge a QB by 1 criteria only. Can we win with him? Is he a team leader? Does the team performs a level geater than the sum of it's parts when he is in? Does he perform well when the chips are down? Does he make mistakes to blow games? So far this season so good. What first round QBs have or have not done in the past is irrelevant IMHO.

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

I just find it fascinating that now Democrats see themselves as the bastion of morality and dictating morality. I can't remember how many times I have now heard democrats say "we have to do it because it's morally right". I've heard it a lot. I remember when democrats used to castigate republicans for pushing morality like for song lyric censorship and two parent families etc. democrats used to be for letting individuals decide their own morality. No more it seems. -

I agree that this sound horrible and make absolutely no sense. However, I'm going to wait for more facts to trickle out before making a decision. Sometimes these things sound horrible at first like a kid getting shot in the back running away from the police with his hands up turns out to be a totally different once the investigation was done. Not saying whose fault it was or pre judging anything til I get more info. Quaint I know, but it's just how I roll in the era of social disinformation media.. -
2 trades to win this years super bowl...but at what cost
reddogblitz replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in the long term we're all dead. Normally I my agree, but this year with the A FC being so bad And us being one of the only few good teams makes me think differently. We gotta take advantege. In another year of two when we have our ducks in a row, could be a different story. -
Colin's Newest Power Ranking: Bills at 9.

Our record says we are tied for 3rd. I'm going to roll with that til proven otherwise. -
our D gives up only 14 per game. 2nd lowest n AFC. The Cheats score 32 points per game but only got 1/2 that against us. Don't sell ourselves short. I also would not be so sure that Coach McDermott won t tell Daboll to protect the football more and take less chances. O in Titans game looked more ball control oriented to me. And it's smart. We're set up to make some serious noise this year. We must take advantage. Every year is different.

I think the rules are purposefully put in this way to give the refs and league wiggle room to maybe even affect the outcome they want. I mean what would be wrong with saying a pass in complete if you catch the football and take 2 steps? Simple and quantifiable and verifiable. Bu if they put in the "football move" part they can justify calling whatever they want. This is why I quit watching NBA basketball. If I weren't addicted to football I would consider stop watching it as well. After a few more games like last night I might have to reconsider.
-
I don't think so. But I do think they have a real problem with absurd complexity and subjectivity of the rules. Then throw in that refs have to meet for extended periods of time to figure out what the rules are. And, finally, the amount of time and lack of right calls with Instant Replay. All of this could affect ratings. There was always too much standing around in football anyway. Now it's getting way worse.

Deangelo Hall says Tre has been a top 3 corner...
reddogblitz replied to Stank_Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been a Buffalo fan since 1996 and one thing I can say is we always have lights out CBs. I'm afraid we're headed for another Gilmore situation with the Tredavian Nightmare in a few seasons. We'll either have to let him go or give up a lot of cap space to get him to stay. That's why we need to take advantage right here right now. -
I think one of the "rules" they have put in could potentially makes things more dangerous. that's when a player fumbles and it's close so they let it go and the other team can challenge if they want. I see some of the guys running around like it's still a live play and other guys thinking the plays over. Dangerous. IR is ruining the game IMHO. It's a can of worms. Where do you stop? There are still tons of bad calls. Bad calls are part of the game. Get rid of IR and deal with it IMHO.

I agree that perhaps a helmet design change could possibly help. I keep thinking that the padding should be on the outside of the helmet as opposed to inside. Perhaps an inflatable one foot thick bubble sort of like in ddaryl's picture except only the helmet. Of course the players would look like Jack-in-the-box's kid which is perhaps partially why this isn't considered.

I don't know, Trump does pretty well with his pen and phone. His signature is better than Obama's too. The best signature. Everybody says that. -
What have the Democrats done in the past Four years

With the rising rate of narcissism brought on by helicopter parent telling their kids they are special and giving them trophies and their addiction to social media, I expect to see these statistics rise regardless of politics. -

Fear will keep the local executives in line, to borrow a phrase. The real goal of course isn’t to “remake” capitalism. Rather, it’s to create opportunities for corruption and graft. . But she's running for president, not Queen. We do this every 4 years where candidates talk about all this stuff like they can actually do it and people think they actually can, but really it's congress' job to do that kind of stuff. Maybe she should run for congress instead? -
