In a completely surprising move, the Bills move Ed Oliver to nose tackle so he can play beside Jerry and the destruction is devastating. Ed's quickness against the nose who has to set protections, hike the ball and block is just too much for him. NE tries to put extra blockers on that side of the line, only to be obliterated by Trent Murphy and Lorax.

Feliciano, Singletary, McKenzie all practicing. No red non-contact jersey either. Me likey. Can it be, the chips are falling into place? Naw.....what was I thinking!

Shaw, your posts are always a pleasure to read. These are good points about the QBs. I'd be curious how you see things on the other side of the ball. I personally think the Bills have a chance to win because of the defense. I think NE does have a well coached team and some talent at key positions. Buffalo is also a well coached team but I think they have an edge. It's hard to pick a single position on this team with a weak spot. The difference in this game is going to come down to which defense gives their offense the most opportunities.

Oh! Oh! Oh! I know the answer! 3-0 isn't really 3-0 when you get your butt handed to you in week 4 by the Buffalo Biills.

You're happy with the big picture? Not me. Been a fan since the 70's. Big picture for me is 4 losing superbowls, a dozen years of losing to NE and countless moral victories. Totally agree with Sal. Time to get behind this team 100%. I want to see a young team go out there against all the odds, against all the talking heads and knock down the Patriots dynasty, brick by brick. They can do it. All they have to do is believe it. This game could actually put this team in a position to win the division. The objective is not to merely make the playoffs. It's to win the superbowl. Go big or go home!

This is a must win game for the Bills.

That's already been tried. -
Alternate RBs, Daboll’s creativeness

That play was brilliant. No one was expecting a TE to get a jet sweep. He gained some good yardage on that play. -

Knocking NE out now and significantly increasing your chance of winning the division isn't a must win? Against the same team that has dominated not only us but everyone else in our division over the last decade? If you guys don't see this as a must win, I can't help you. Being the team that actually ends the dynasty, that is what I call must win. Go big or go home folks. The objective is to win the superbowl. It is not to just merely make the playoffs. -
Major conundrum for the game on Sunday

Nooooo! You'll rust your pipes. Seriously, there are a lot of IPA's now and there's a ton of local breweries making them. -
Naw, ignorance is bliss. Nothing is impossible with these new guys. I'd like to keep it that way.

I'd like to see Josh keep the ball as the option instead, when Mckenzie is in motion. The defense will bite hard on Mckenzie leaving a receiver wide open.

We know Patriots Take away one specific option on Defense

NE is going to have a hard time if they are trying to take your best player out. The Bills have been spreading the ball around very well in the passing game and they have been good running the ball too. There is talent all over the place. Their streak of games without allowing a TD is about to implode. -

If there was a game that is a must win, this is it. 3-0 and here come the defending superbowl champs that have dominated the league for waaaay to long. The upstart Bills in their own house and on fire should want this game waaaay more than the Patsies. They don't care about the history the Brady lead Patriots have. They care about forging their own mark in the history books. What better way than to dethrone the dynasty in spectacular fashion. This isn't just a win for the city of Buffalo. The whole nation will be rooting for the Bills to topple the Patriots on Sunday. To move out in front in the standings and defeating NE would be the ultimate statement. You know you are thinking it. If you want to talk about must win, that is..... Oh yea, this is the one. -
I've been to Philly multiple times for work. My company has a corporate training facility there. The fans there are very Buffalo like. I always stop into a local sports bar when I'm there and they are great people. Overheard a couple of middle aged men talking about their loss to the Bills a couple years back and the conversation was hilarious. That game just happened to be the prior week that I was there. They were ragging on their team so I went out to my car to get my Bills cap. When I came back in I joined their conversation and began agreeing with them. My hat was tucked in my pants behind me and they didn't know where I was from but we continued to talk football. After a while the conversation shifted and I brought up that I was in from out of town for work. One of the guys asked me where I was from. I said "I could tell you but you probably won't like it". The guy looks at me puzzled and that's when I grabbed my Bills cap and put it on my head. The whole bar started laughing. Anyway, my experience with the people there has been pretty positive. Have had similar experiences with Pittsburgh fans too. There are good people everywhere IMHO.

That crap ends this weekend.

I am not concerned with pass rush so much. Dalton couldn't convert a 1st down to save his life until the defense started playing prevent. I'm more concerned with the 3rd Qtr protect the lead, take your foot off of their throat mentality.

Rational Thoughts 24 Hours-ish Later (Bengals)

Yes, but the one where it didn't was on 3rd and 1. Silly to run that there. Just give it to Gore and put your best big bodies on the line. Easy 1st down. -
Allen 3rd highest rated passer in 4th Q

Good points. Also, just remembering the way NE played defense against Allen last year. Their plan was to contain Allen in the pocket and force him to be a good thrower. That plan is not going to work this time because the WRs are getting open quicker and more consistently. Also, Allen is vastly improving his completion percentage. We now have WRs who get open and TEs who can actually catch. Would be nice to have Singletary back too. He has been pretty darn good as a receiver too. Going to interesting to see how this plays out next weekend. -
Honestly, I think Buffalo's offense is much better than we are giving them credit for too. Comparing last year to this year when 3/4 of the offense is new is pointless. The numbers they are putting up are trending up, not down, despite Allen's occasional WTF play. Even those dumb plays are decreasing and he is improving his completion percentage. Receivers are getting open and Allen is getting more time to throw. The running game seems to be pretty solid too. I don't think NE wins in a blow out and maybe, just maybe they even lose to this Buffalo team. I'm certainly not expecting that but I won't be completely surprised either.

Buffalo runs a mixed bag of zone and man. Mostly zone, but I believe our safeties are the best tandem in the league. The backend is excellent at disguising the coverages. Buffalo was the #1 defense against the pass last year and they may be even better this year.

10 observations on the 3-0 start
Rockinon replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the offense took a step back in this game. The blitz off of the right side was not picked up and an easy way to defeat that is to put a receiver/RB/TE in the flat on that side to throw to. There was never anyone there. They kept sending 2 rushers off the edge and that is super easy to defeat. Not sure what Daboll was thinking there. Over all, they still managed to win and that is what counts. However, I believe the Bills are still learning from their mistakes. The offense seems to do something new every week and successfully I might add. It's clear there is talent on this team and when the chips are down they sure do seem to find a way to come out smelling like roses. Maybe it's a good thing that they took a step back this week. Next week could be interesting. Our defense is really playing well. Can they keep Brady and company in check well enough to give the offense time to put up the points needed to win? I am looking forward to finding out. I'd like to see some more improvement. We saw it in week 1 and 2. Week 3 was a bit of a step back, but hey any given Sunday. Right? -

If they lose to Cincy, there's no way they beat NE. I'd rather see continued improvement in this game and something to build on before going up against NE.
