He'd get double-digit sacks but most of then would be in like 3 games, with one 3 sack game. He also didn't bring much of a rush otherwise. He was handled most games one-on-one. I think he's been overrated.

That's their fault for not moving quicker. Why did they have to change the defensive formation to a 3-4 and then waste time & money having to go get A.Davis & Edwards?? You know, many people have said that you can't turn a team around in one offseason but I ask "Why not?" Just a few extra moves could've put this team in position to be a playoff contender (and they still might get there). Here's what could've been done: We all know OT is one of the main weak points of this team. With Fred Jackson & Lynch already on the roster, I still think the selection of Spiller was a luxury pick they shouldn't have made. Prior to the draft, there wasw all this speculation as to how many, if any, of the top 4 OTs would be there when the Bills were to pick at #9. Only 2 were gone so the most logical pick would've been Anthony Davis or Bulaga at 9. They would've made this O-line look a lot stronger. They still could've picked their NT at #2 but I think the better plan could've been to leave the defensive alignment as a 4-3 for this season and work with the strengths of the players already on the team. Isn't this what Gailey has been saying about the offense?? Why wasn't the defense looked at in the same way?? They wouldn't have had to use their 2nd & 3rd round picks on players to support a change to the 3-4. The offense was the bigger problem in 2009. Why did they have to make such a drastic change to the defense? Switching to another 4-3 defense wouldn't have required such major moves as they made in free agency in acquiring A.Davis & Edwards. They could've used that money to improve on positions that really needed better players, like the O-line. The coaching staff did an evaluation of the QB position and decided they could work with the current group instead of adding a rookie via draft or veteran. I still believe the strength of the QB position would have increased a good amount if they would've traded for Jason Campbell, who has had more production than any of the current Bills' QBs. Next is the WR position. Nix & Gailey have already commented that no QB would be successful throwing from his back. Well, if they would've used the 1st pick on an OT and traded for Campbell, the passing game would've already been improved. Why did they decide to let Reed & Owens go without attempting to keep them, thereby weakening another position??? Now one of next offseason's major needs will likely be a WR. I also believe making improvements to the offense by hiring Gailey would have helped the 2009 defense by not having them on the field for so long. They could've made some tweaks thru the draft and free agency and this team would've become much stronger than the 2009 team. Instead, we still have the same concerns with the QB position and left tackle, with a questionable addition to the RT slot. The wide receiver position was added to the weaknesses and growing pains expected with the change of the defense to a 3-4 and so many added players to a group assembled for a 4-3 defense. I know I should give the new regime the benefit of the doubt but this is just my 2 cents on how I believe the team could've looked a lot stronger heading into training camp.

Anybody who has been around this team for a few years might've said "With this team's injury jinx, don't use your 1st round pick for a position of need." Perhaps a new theory why they didn't take an OT in the 1st round??

I may have a different take than most, bit I like the fact that Gailey made snappy responses to questions about Lynch the other day. I think this may show he's pissed about Lynch. Sure beats those old standard responses of the last 4 years: "We'll just work with the guys that are here. We like the guys we have that are here..." I'm again not very impressed with the leaders of this team, as I wasn't when Peters was holding out & nobody was calling him out. You can say they shouldn't air their dirty laundry but I'd rather hear about players expressing their dissatisfaction with Lynch & Schobel not practicing.

Whoa!! You just made me flashback to: 1. Bills running the ball effectively down the field and then they run a halfback option near the goal line with Travis Henry that is intercepted. 2. A 4th and short call of a dump pass to Sam Gash who hardly touched the ball all season.

One of the advantages of a 3-4 defense is that it allows better disguise of who may be pass rushing and gives more flexibility. Sure you still have 7 guys in the 1st 2 layers but it's easier for a 3-4 OLB to rush when there are only 3 down linemen in front of them vs an OLB in the 4-3. As far as Kawika Mitchell, he's done an excellent job when blitzing.

Us people with a "normal" life have to work 8 hours, 5 days a week and have to use personal days to take care of our personal stuff. These guys haven't been forced to do anything for months and they can't arrange their schedules to report for workouts for 3 days in a week for a few hours each day?? That's a bunch of BS!!! I can give some leeway if it were doctors' appts or something like that where you have to schedule in advance, but of course they have team doctors. Also, they should know the schedule of these OTAs in advance so they should've been able to work around them. No excuses except for a family medical issue.

I think Moorman is great but it's telling when the punter and placekicker are consistently the better well known and productive players on your team.

This was interesting becuz they just had a mincamp & after the 1st day they said he looked the best of all of their QBs. Speculaton here is that, because coach Cable wanted him gone that Al Davis may have finally listened. Also wouldn't have made sense to keep him after trading for Campbell.

Exactly. Last season, despite other questionable moves with roster & starters, Jauron started Fitz because he felt he gave the Bills the best chance to win. He was trying to get wins to save his job. His record at the time of his firing along with his whole body of work (questionable time mgmt, starting so many inexperienced O-linemen) led to his dismissal. Fewell seemed to not have confidence in Edwards as he continued to start Fitz but he was also trying to win games as he began his head coaching resume. The new coaching staff should get a 1st year pass on the number of wins, even if it's less than the 6 of 2009 as long as there are signs things are getting better.

I agree. I don't like players holding out and the Titans shouldn't even allow that to be an issue. Renegotiate now. A RBs career can quickly be cut short. There have only been a few 2000-yard seasons in NFL history. Pay the guy. He's way underpaid. He deserves it.
