  1. And Bills' fans who saw Wade Phillips become enamored with Erik Flowers (whose value rose after the combine) and draft him in the 1st round??
  2. Excuse me guys but Steve Young went back to school and got a "Law degree". He's on a local radio show and his insight on the QB position is phenomenal. He is very intelligent.
  3. We forget: with Willis already taken by SF, if Lynch wasn't there, the Bills would've taken Poz with their 1st round pick. Getting him in the 2nd was good value. Unfortunately, he just hasn't turned out to be an Urlacher.
  4. I've only seen Newton play like 4 games but when watching him play, Vince Young came to mind immediately. He moves & runs like him. I am white and moved to California about 30 years ago. I rarely hear the N-word out here. When I'm back in Buffalo I hear it all the time. I'll admit though, I also hear it when visiting family in Texas.
  5. One guy could've just taken the consensus from the Mock drafts on the major sports websites and done a better job. There would not have been the reaches for Erik Flowers, McCargo, Maybin, etc. Nix has made the comments about liking to draft guys with a good body of work and not one-year wonders. Based on that, I would think Bowens and maybe Fairley would not be top on his list.
  6. Giggle! giggle! He said 'Bonerville'!! Giggle!
  7. Young was 1st so it would have to be that Russell was V.Young 2.0.
  8. He had good touch on a few throws but bad touch on several more. Also, a couple of those drops could be contributed to him throwing "too" hard. Had a job where we had a college intern from Stanford who was a starting receiver for Elway. He said by the end of the season his fingers were so messed up from Elway's hard throws that he had to catch the ball with his palms. This might be the case with Mallet's receivers. Having seen just about every Stanford game Luck has started, to me Mallet is not even close. I did like how his darts got to the receivers quick on screens & dropoffs. Those types of plays haven't worked for the Bills much in recent years because by the time the ball gets there, one or more defenders are right there. I could see possibly better results with those types of throws to Parrish & Spiller. Bottom line: I don't see Mallet being a good pick at #3. I've only seen Newton play twice so I'll be looking forward to the championship game.
  9. Just about every game, the O-line couldn't sustain blocks and the defensive players couldn't shed them. What were these strength & conditioning coaches doing?
  10. Arena League. He could play multiple positions. I think he will be given multiple opportunities because of his athleticism until each location learns he's a "Look like Tarzan, play like Jane" player.
  11. Man, having a recent former head coach as your DC doesn't give Kubiak much of a leash before he could be replaced by Phillips.
  12. Exactly. After seeing some of his college highlights where he was catching deep balls I wondered why the Bills weren't using him that way. Then, this past game, they actually threw deep to him twice. They had promoted Phil Hubbard from the practice squad. They should just IR someone who won't be playing tomorrow and promote that other WR they just added to the PS. Windsor??
  13. As we near the end of the 2010 season, let's take a look at the quarterback moves the Bills didn't make this past offseason: 1. In the 2010 draft, many of us were disappointed when the Bills didn't grab Claussen or Tebow in the 1st round and again passed on Claussen when he was still available in the 2nd round. Still too early to tell, but so far Bradford has been the only rookie ready to start while Claussen has not taken advantage of opportunities he's had to play for Carolina. Tebow hasn't had much opportunities yet. 2. McNabb: I was among those who were disgusted that Washington got him so cheaply and wondered why the Bills didn't pursue him. Well he's had likely his worst NFL season and appears on the outs with the Skins. 3. Jason Campbell: I was on the bandwagon to trade for him as his stats had improved from year-to-year in Washington. He's struggled to hold onto the starting job with Oakland and likely wouldn't be starting now if Gradkowski didn't get injured. Sure the Bills decision to stick with Edwards as starter didn't work out but I think they have been better off with Fitzpatrick as starter than they may have been with the other alternatives.
  14. I was just rewatching the Cleveland game via the NFL Ticket's Short Cuts and after the review of the play where Moats' knocked the ball away from DelHomme, the referee announced "the quarterbork lost possession..." LOL!! Now throughout Bills' history, we've experienced some quarterdorks but never a quarterbork.
  15. I've thought along these lines for years. Living in NorCal, I witnessed the Niners/Cowboys rivalry of the 80's and early 90's. Each offseason, they would make moves to counter the other team's strengths. Alvin Harper torching the Niners CBs, they draft one, Eric Davis, in the next draft. Cowboys O-line struggling to stop Charley Haley, they sign him away as free agent. Even though the switch to 4 team divisions lessened the importance of divisional games slightly, you still want to beat the team(s) that you're competing with for the division title.
  16. Your expectations may be too high. Mallet is a gunslinger like Jim Kelly. You have to take the bad with the good. Kelly averaged 21.5 TDs per season in his Bills' career but also averaged 16 INTs. As we've seen, most of the college QBs with amazing college stats (Colt Brennan, Timmy Chang, Chase Clement, Kingsbury, Graham Harrell, etc.) are products of their systems and don't make it in the NFL. QBs from the major conferences, with less impressive college numbers, are usually the ones that make it, especially because of the competition they face.
  17. Just because Carolina drafted Claussen doesn't mean they wouldn't take Luck.
  18. Hey, I think that was the 1st game I went to also. Alvin Wyatt with a punt return TD?
  19. Yeah, the disparity in talent was often an extreme back then. They'd have a few games in a season where they'd get just a few 1st downs and lose like 31-0. The Green Bay game, although a similar score didn't feel as bad because the defense helped hold it to 13-7 at the half and the 1st downs and time of possession were close. There were many games in the 70's & 80's where the game was over in the 1st qtr and you knew there was no way the team had the capability to make a game of it.
  20. Me either. He has not shown anything to me to deserve an extension.
  21. Yes, and I've said it several times: Why make a switch to the 3-4 defense when your offense was the bigger problem and your new head coach is offense-minded?? As a result, the top 2 free agent acquisitions in A.Davis & Edwards were brought in because of their familiarity with the 3-4. Two of the top 4 draft picks were for the defensive side. It has been said that you couldn't make this team a playoff contender in one offseason but I disagree. If the Bills stuck with a 4-3 defense, they could have focused on the offense in free agency and the draft. McNabb was acquired by Washington for a 2nd and a conditional 3rd or 4th in 2011 so, they could've gone that way for a veteran QB & drafted one. The QB position would've been in a lot better shape than what they started the season with.
  22. I like Kellen Moore, too!! They have some nice paint colors. Oh wait, you're talking about the QB. Seriously, even though he usually isn't playing against top competition, he has at the start of this year(Oregon St) I've been impressed with his leadership & decision making.
  23. Maybe the Niners. They don't seem to have good East Coast scouts as they overpaid for Kevin Williams, Jason Jennings and Clements over the years. Being a Stanford product they should love him. Alex Smith had another poor game after showing promise vs New Orleans. They also have David Carr & Troy Smith so they might be interested.
  24. Didn't he just get a big extension he didn't deserve a couple years ago??
  25. Are you kidding?? On Mathews 3rd sack, he was Bell's man & all Bell could do was touch him as he went by/
