Favre plays two series in Vikes/Chiefs game

At this point in time, some would call it dreams, others would call it nightmares. -
OT---Usain Bolt...this guy is not human...
Greybeard replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes that catching the ball seems to be an issue. I can only remember Bob Hayes having any kind of success. After years of never using your hands while running, it is a big transition to all of a sudden have to use them. The only transitions bigger would be him trying to play soccer. Years ago, a lot of college football players were also sprinters on the track team, but things have become so specialized, I don't think that is true anymore. -
Doesn't Coleman's in Syracuse serve a Beef on Weck? Seems I had one at Coleman's in Oswego, which is now closed. Not up to Swiston's standards though.

Who is your favorite BILLS backup QB of all time?
Greybeard replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO, Dennis Shaw's stats at the time were mainly the result of Marlin Briscoe. Shaw threw the pass up for grabs and Briscoe somehow came down with it. Briscoe was a real joy to watch. And remember, he wasn't that tall. Among my friends at the time, Shaw going back to pass was referred to as "here comes another duck". He rarely through a tight spiral. -
Former Buffalo Brave & Buff St Grad Randy Smith died
Greybeard replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In 72 or 73 I knew the guy who played back court with Smith at Buffalo State. He said several times, that if you put Smith along side any player in the NBA at the baseline and throw the ball to half court, Smith would be the one getting the ball. As it turns out, if that wasn't the truth, it wasn't far from the truth. He was a great athlete. RIP -

In the business world that I know, no company has opted out of a guaranteed plan to a cafateria plan because it was good for the employees. Although G.Host's post did not specifically say they are canning the guaranteed plan by going their own way. Cafateria plans mean employees get less, even though it is spun to make it sound like a good thing.

Another reason why our coaching staff is stupid
Greybeard replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I takes a very unique group of Offensive Linemen to run the no huddle the way the 90 Bills did. They have to be in great shape. NOT Good shape, Great shape. How many times were there stories of the opposing D's just gasping for air. You basically have to be in better shape then they are. I think you can't make this call until you see where your personnel stands. -
In the highlights ESPN showed, he looked like he was 7 ft tall. Guess he was playing against short players.

Jets moving training camp to Syracuse suburb
Greybeard replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know where you get this from. Syracuse is Giants country. Then followed by the Bills. When you are going through a mall, see how much Bills merchandise is on the racks. Not half of what Giant stuff is on the racks. And it is this way because the Giant merchandise sells. I moved to CNY in the early 70's, Giants on one channel, Jets on the other. If there was one Bills game televised a year, I was lucky. That didn't really change until the Late 80's. It took two things to do that. Better Bills teams and poorer Jet teams. If the Bills start losing and the Jets start winning, it could easily revert back to what it was. -
Who hopes that Jason Peters gets cracked this year?

So your saying you want to take it out on McNab. -
That would make it like parking at the old Rockpile.

Are you some kind of a vaudeville fan or just old?

Can't arque with any of your picks. While Cookie was a key part of those early teams and a real beast, I would at least mention Braxton. I really never though he got the recognition he deserved. He was just a few yards short of 1000 when OJ got 2000.

What Makes A HOF Player? Pick three things.
Greybeard replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Be on a winner Be on a winner Be on a winner. How many players do you know that are in the HOF that were not? Not many because ones that did make it from losers were out right unbelievable. -
If Kelly came directly to the Bills, the Bills would have never become a SB team. Him not being in Buffalo prevented the Bills from getting better. Those 80's Bills sucked. Not mediocre sucked, they really sucked. This gave them the ability to stock pile decent players with high draft choices. I have always thought that was one of the biggest favors Kelly did for the Bills. Kelly's last year, he had no arm. He could no longer throw the quick sideline pass.

I was surprised by Mangini firing

The irony of this is, if Pennington wasn't playing for the Fins, the Jets probably would have made the playoffs. -
The OFFICIAL Joe In Macungie makes crappy threads thread

LOL. This is may be the first food post without ties to Buffalo. -
This is a nice group of posts Kelly. For some reason there are fans that think having an NFL franchise in Buffalo is like living in the Garden of Eden. As you said above, the reality is Ralph could make more money in a lot of other cities and he has had the opportunity to do so, yet he remains in Buffalo. But since there are multiple threads, all telling us what Ralph thinks, I give you my thoughts. Supposedly, from reading threads here, there is some kind of exclusion on inheritance in 2009. My bet is Ralph figured he would roll the dice and see if he could live to 2009, in which case, if he does pass this year, his kids actually get the franchise. If he lives longer he will have to have an alternate plan. One of Ralph's big worries is if his kids inherit the team, they will have to pay a huge amount of tax on the Capital Gains, and they just won't have that kind of money. This somewhat puts them in the control of others. I doubt Ralph wants that to happen. So I wouldn't be too surprised if after this year, Ralph becomes more open to the idea of selling. If Ralph was Modell or Irsay, the Bills would have been long gone. No matter what RW's inadequacies have been, the fans of Buffalo are dam lucky to have him.

You can't win without talent, and didn't Cowher have some super GM leading the draft!!

Jim Kelly's face on Monday night after that kick

Actually I think he thought, " Wide right, I didn't even party all week". -
I was always irritated that Bileltnikoff got tons of praise ( I can hear Curt Gowdy as I write this) and Chandler received almost none. Chandler was easily Biletnikoffs equal ( at least in my mind). Just goes to show you what being on a winner can do for your career. BTW, Chandler was also the holder for field goals. The guy had amazing hands.

Are you the same Frez who made some kind of scoring prediction for the game?? I had to leave out a lot of adjectives,
