  1. Before his rookie season started, I read an article how OJ and Harris would lead the Bills to the promised land. He was that big QB with a strong arm that every team yearns for. I couldn't wait. He had great arm strength and his accuracy in drills was amazing. They used to swing a tire and Harris could zip that ball through that tire with consistency. But Marky remembers as I do. He threw the short pass with the same velocity as the long. He didn't really have much touch. Can't remember if he had any skill reading defenses. He also had a mysterious stomach issue in his first camp. He missed more than a few practices, which obviously didn't help him. I was expecting big things but they never came. I haven't bought into QB hype since.
  2. One of the names that came to mind as I went through the threads was George Blanda. His name wasn't on your list, so went to look at his stats at NFL.com. It appears he would have way more games than any of the others on your list although the don't have a specific Games Played column. So where did your numbers come from? It is interesting to see how everyone evaluates this. Archie was probably the greatest QB that ever had to play with the least. If he had any support he would have made the top 5 of half the posters here.
  3. I believe the "started the hurry up" is wrong multiple times.
  4. It's odd you mention 10 years ago, because Dick Lebeau was the DC for the Buffalo Bills in 2003. And no matter who the coach is, you don't do well without talent.
  5. Thanks for posting this, I was also going to post but was waiting a couple of days. Billznut really crushed the competition. Typically, if you can pick two thirds of the games correct you are doing really well and the three top finishers all did that. A special mention should also go out to Matt in KC and WVUFootball29 who both had an perfect week, which occurred during week 8. I look forward to this every year as it adds a lot of interest to games I wouldn't normally pay any attention to. Amazing how many games a week go down to the last two minutes.
  6. Thanks for the post. If the NFL network or any other network ran a schedule where they replayed the Bills' entire game from week to week of the 63, 64, 65 and 66 seasons, I would be more than willing to subscribe.
  7. It also happens when someone tries to put a hanger on the fire nozzle in the room, also early in the morning. I hope everyone here knows not to do that. Not good for your hotel bill.
  8. And I just saw a report this week on TV, of how the ice on the Great Lakes is early. It is threatening to reduce the shipping on the lakes. Guess it all depends where you are.
  9. Great post Nanker.
  10. I have always had the view that the largest number of people in Syracuse follow the Giants. I still do. Retailers have to make money to stay in business. Giant colors far outnumber Bills colors on retail shelves. They do it because it sells better. You also see more Giant clothing being worn. I will say this though, signing Marrone as coach has picked up interest.
  11. Vanna, i would like to buy a vowel.
  12. If you never saw Dennis Shaw pass, today should give you a good idea of what he was like. Especially the long passes that were always just a little short and up for grabs. Although considering it was only his second start, I thought Tuel did pretty well. I'd be willing to bet that next year KC doesn't win 8 games. Everything is going their way this year. It won't two years in a row. At the very least, the Bills are certainly entertaining this year.
  13. RIP You missed one of the key points in those broadcasts. When someone got a hit, I believe he banged to pieces of wood together to make the sound of the ball hitting the bat. The aural image of those games is as clear to me now as they were back then. He had a great voice for broadcasting.
  14. I was on the James Harris bandwagon from the start. Read an article after the draft how Harris and OJ would lead the Bills into the promised land. Saw Harris in camp. What an arm. I would still bet he had the best arm in Bills history. Could throw the ball through the swinging tire damn near every time. I am still not sure what went wrong besides his mysterious stomach ailment. The only really bad thing I can remember about him is he threw the 10 yard pass with the same velocity as the 60 yard pass.
  15. How would you know that. His body was never found.
  16. My comment had no Polian content. It was a Levy blew it comment. If Marv wasn't so good with a quote, he wouldn't have been considered so succussful. But I do give Marv credit. The perfect coach to lose 4 straight Super Bowls, but also the perfect coach to actually go to 4 under those circumstances.
  17. I have always believed this.
  18. Nice original post and an even better chart. Thanks to you both.
  19. is give Easely a chance. You should know the melody. I thought I would throw some "Instant Karma" at this.
  20. I assume you mean Peyton because he is worth way more than Eli.
  21. I agree. The clock is running on Marrone. If Freeman outplays EJ, I don't think they would go back to EJ. So if Freeman wants a multi-year contract, this scenario would work for him. On the other hand, if Freeman wants to be a free agent next year, he signs with the Bills for one year, with the opportunity to show how good he is. I think the Bills are the best option for him in either case.
  22. That was sarcasm. I am not sure knowing Hackett's system is worth anything, so to me it is a minus.
  23. He knows Hackett's offense. Is that a plus or a minus?
  24. There is a tendency to forget what Farve's last few years looked like. They weren't that pretty. I doubt he would get the Bills to the playoffs. And his arm, although it was one of the best ever, is now even older. I think Dixon and Freeman are both better choices. Sometimes retreads work. Jim Plunkett anyone?
