So Here's A Hypothetical For You ...
Greybeard replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, so really there is more pressure on EJ in this game than he will ever have in his career. No one mentions the Bengal defense is 6th in the league in sacks. Against our line, that says it all. -
I looked to me that he slipped and ended up going lower than he wanted to. And he hit him in the hip,not the thighs.
-
I also like the Schwartz defense better. When we get as few sacks as we have been getting, especially when compared to last year, something is not right. Oddly Miami has two studs in there line and their productions is down. They had the guy from the Canadian league, I think his name is Charles and then they add Suh. They should be a terror but at this rate Charles will have more sacks last year then the entire Fin team this year.

They can't run. That is the problem. -

At this stage of the game the Fins are looking like the Bills of the 70's. -
What's the BS excuse if we lose to Miami this week?

Something about his arms. He couldn't compete in the cold and the wind. -
Report: Suh Ignoring DC's Play-Calls in MIA
Greybeard replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This coming Sunday, he will break out of his slump. -
First positive is, If your gonna bet whipped, it is best to get whipped early in the year. Should make the team realize they have to stay focused and can't let up. They shouldn't buy into the hype. Second positive, is I'm impressed the way you stayed positive in the Shout Box during the game. Never gave up. Hope the Bills follow your lead.

The Patriot's use a Tight End cloaking device. The reason it is so effective is it only works on Defensive players. Everyone one else can see them. I think Gilmore is unaware of this. This conclusion was developed in the late 90's when Ben Coates went consistantly uncovered during Bill's games. NE has a tendency to over use it when they are close to the goal line.

CTE found in 87 of 91 players autopsied
Greybeard replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Slightly off topic but catchers in baseball really take a beating. Grandal, the catcher for the Dodgers, has been out twice this year after taking foul balls off the mask. Wouldn't surprize me at all if they have the same issue. -
Would you Choose 4 SB losses vs. 1 SB win?
Greybeard replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I may be in the minority but I would take four straight losses in the SB versus one win if you gonna tell me I have to go through another 15 years like the last 15 years. During the early 90's there was anticipation expectation of a win every week. And it just wasn't those four years, there was at least one year on either side of the streak that they were equally impressive. I lived through the late 60's and the 70's teams, so I was more than happy to enjoy the extended run. But then, I am a Dodger fan and maybe I am just used to the "wait until next year' phrase. -
Not if you figure it would have been worth it at 10 Mil

Steelers at Bills 1st half thread - Preseason Game 3

If it doesn't screw his confidence, this is good work for Darby. In the long run it will help him. -

Good protection by the line. It does make a difference. -

This EJ guy sucks. He could have tucked the ball in and ran for 25 yards. -

Robert Woods Serious Trade Bait--conjecture
Greybeard replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Woods is better than a lot of posters think. Trading him would be a big mistake. -
Cassel will start. He is the safe choice. He has to fail to be replaced. First in, TT, because he is totally different from Cassel. TT with have to fail at least twice before EJ gets a chance. And that may not be bad for EJ. Gives him more time to develope and will remove the other two as possibilities, At least all three of them have been throwing accurately. Although we will see what happens when games start for real.

Jones was good but Robert James was Deon before Deon. If you saw him play you would know why. I would also say he was one of the top ten hitters for Buffalo of all time.

Technically, I am just North of Syracuse, so maybe I don't count as anyone. The diehard Syracuse fans I know were glad to see Marrone go, thought the Bills were crazy. Rumor was Marrone was lucky to close out the 2012 season with wins and he wouldn't be able to compete in the ACC. By mid-season 2012, they were ready to fire him. Actually Nassib looked pretty good in those last 4 wins. But to think Marrone could win with Nassib and not with Manuel is a stretch. Oh yes, and Syracuse was his "Dream" job. I could see bringing in Nassib for free, but suggestions that the Bills trade for him just don't make sense. I personally believe Marrone left the Bills because he knew he was lucky to win as many games as he did last year and he would never be worth more on the market than at that time.

You've been a Bills fan for too long if...
Greybeard replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a Bills post game show on Sunday Night in the early 70's. I think it was on that station that was on Grand Island. I believe it was where Paul Mcguire got his start in broadcasting. If I remember correctly Harry Jacobs and Art Stratton were the other two commentators. Those late 60, early 70 teams were brutal. I remember Jacobs saying, "when we played it was 4 yards and a cloud of dust. Now, it's 2 yards and a cloud of excuses." Even the ex-players were frustrated. I also remember McGuire complaining when he played in 69 about a great punt he had. "Just my luck I kick the longest punt of the year and on the same day some guy kicks a 98 yarder." Also back then it seems I knew every starting player on the team. Not just the Bills but their opponents. Lots of great players back then in the AFL.
