I have 10 oaks in the front of my house. You can imagine the mess. Yes they are falling like rain. I have been raking them up but 4 days later the ground is covered again. And a bucket of those things is heavy. Afraid to fill up a plasic trashcan more than half way. Also they appear to be bigger this year. I am in CNY and it has been kind of dry for most of the summer. But it has been very hot. "Only in the hottest years this happens. And this year, it grows hot."

HBO's Limited Series "Sharp Objects"
Greybeard replied to Fadingpain's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have only seen the second to last and the last episode. When posters started saying it was not worth the time investment, I decided to not start watching but happened to see the second to last one so was committed to the final. After others have voiced their opinions maybe someone can explain the last scene. -
I totally disagree with this post. And Cobie Smulders sends her regards. https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/hottest-canadian-actress

She looks like the singer in Scandal in this pic. Good Bye to You. How about Mary Ann Fowler? That was Jaclyn Smith's name in the Breck commercials. She always looked great in those.

With returns like that it sounds like the cure for retirement income. However I would guess it would only be your retirement.?

I did a search on Lewisohn, which then linked to the Amazon. They had a few pages of Vol 1 you could read. Very interesting. They also had a intro on the English money system. I never realized Lbs, Shillings and Pence were not based on the decimal system at one time. That alone was a good read.

I just listed to this while cutting the grass the other day. Great album. And as I was listening to this I thought it could be my favorite. '65 was a pretty good year for music.

After I posted I thought I would look them up. That is what it says. Amusing in a way. I actually went back and deleted the post, and you replied after the delete. You must have been looking when I posted, as I can only see the second post. Thanks for the reply.

What is Cris Carter Talking about
Greybeard replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The second part of the video is interesting. Years ago someone told me you don't throw the ball, you pull it through. This is true of baseball, football, fastpitch softball, literally any throw. You can see this best with Javelin throwers. So the fact he keeps his foot on the ground does exactly what the video says, it allows him to pull the ball through using the ground as an anchor. Would be interesting to know if he does that every time. And thanks for the link. -
Star Lotulelei: Where is the Impact?
Greybeard replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills success or lack of matched up rather well with whether the Browns first or second teams were on the field. Just maybe, that has something to do with it. We are sure to find out in Game 1. -
He led the team to 3 points despite having some great opportunities. TT could have done that. The number one thing one announcer took away from all this was "he remains calm in the pocket." So the only thing I get out of that game is that it is interesting how QBs are perceived by the sports media.

Commenting on my own post??? It just struck me that my favorite line in that is "endeavor to persevere ." They must have been Bills fans.

I am with you on this. For many years, if I was channel surfing and came across this, I would stop and watch. Did not matter where in the movie it was. I always enjoyed the dialog.

Advice Needed re: Managerial Dilemma at Work
Greybeard replied to Fadingpain's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That note on checking who is present is extremely good advice. In all the phone meetings I have ever been a participant in, this was common practice, especially since phone meetings start with everyone logging in. A meeting with 30 people I would have thought he would have written down all the participants as they logged in, especially if he was a key participant. I would be willing to bet he does so in all future phone meetings. -
I guess that could make me a two time loser.?

I have to make sure my wife sees this.?

Car towing videos from Dallas
Greybeard replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's probably the best you ever posted. Wasted 45 minutes. I never realized that is the way tow trucks worked these days. -
Years ago a notice was always given by a few individuals here when a meteor shower would occur. So here it is. I believe Pete was one of the posters who would give notice. Yes it is not football news but of interest to some. It is also perfectly clear in CNY. Tonight is the peak. Best time supposedly from Midnight to Dawn in the Northeast Sky.

I have never listened to Steeleye Span but I just checked out the Wikipedia on them and your may be right that I would like them. I will have to give them a listen. One of the odd things about my list is two of the albums were purchased without having ever heard the group before. I had a copy of Rolling Stone that I was reading in the "Library" when I came to a full page add about Liege and Lief. So I went out and bought it. Loved it. Soon after I bought the other Fairport Albums with Sandy Denny on them. Love them all. The other album was purchased at Twin Fair as a cutout. It was a good place to get albums cheap and I kept seeing this album with a cover of a guy on a horse. After seeing it enough times, I thought I should try it. Really struck gold with that one. It was Then Played On by Fleetwood Mac. Don't know how it happened that I had never heard a song by them before that, but there was a lot of music coming out at the time. They never made it big on US radio. That Moby Grape album is great collection of songs plus the fact the guitars play against each other so well. Guess it takes more than just talent to make it big. Forever Changes easily makes my top 10.

Interesting choice in albums. I think our tastes overlap. I had both of these albums. At the time Sweetheart of the Rodeo was a bit of a disappointment. I loved the Byrd sound especially on the Gene Clark compositions. However, I did like it enough to get the Burrito album. So the only one missing is Poco and as a Richie Furay fan from his Buffalo Springfield Days, I have Picken up the Pieces also.

It is always difficult to narrow down a list of anything to 5, and to choose how to determine "favorite." Favorite all time? Favorite now? I was going to start a thread where you had to list your albums in lifetime order of number of plays. That would be a bit different that what I list here. But if I want to listen to something now, I guess it would be because it is my favorite. Fleetwood Mac - Then Played On The first incarnation of Fleedwood Mac, better than the second IMO Moby Grape - Moby Grape A group which should have been big but they released 3 singles at the same time which confused Radio stations on what to play The Kinks - Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) Many good Kinks albums around this time, difficult even to pick my favorite but Ray is always a great listen, The Strawbs - Acoustic Gold Really sort of an acoustic greatest hits but these were not really hits commercially, just very good songs. Fairport Convention - Liege and Lief English folk rock, always loved this group especially with Sandy Denny Albums don't seem to be a strong song wise as they used to be, but I always wonder if that is just because I don't commit to playing them enough to get hooked on them. And all these seem to be based on my listening during my early 20's.

Harry Jacobs miked up 1964
Greybeard replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It isn't a very long video, but watch these guys tackle. I don't see any leading with their head. I believe this is also pre-headslap for the Defensive lineman. Jacobs' intelligence was part of what made the D so good back then. For those of you who might remember that Jacobs' was one of the individuals who were on Point After during the late 60's. The show was on channel 68? and consisted of Jacobs, Stratton and Paul McGuire, typically around 10PM Sunday night, after the game. I believe it is where McGuire got his start in broadcasting. It was a good show but the Bills were terrible, worse than they have been over the last 20 years, maybe the worse of all time. So there wasn't much positive to talk about. One of the best lines I remember, I think it was Stratton who said it, was "it used to be 4 yards a carry and a cloud of dust, now it is two yards and a cloud of excuses." -
Top 10 biggest traitors in Buffalo Bills history
Greybeard replied to greenyellowred's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Ralph never threatened, they would still be playing in the Rockpile. And Kelly should be thanked for going to the USFL. If he would have signed with the Bills they would have been mediocre for his entire career. A few more years of sucking allowed them to gain the needed talent for those super bowl runs.
