  1. After two weeks and a day, there are only 2 players that are hitting 400 and quality. Cano and Mauer. There are actually 24 hitting 400 but most of those do not have enough at bats. About 5 of those are a couple at bats short of qualifying. To qualify you need 3.1 at bats in the total number of games your team has played. I don't remember the qualifying list being so short last year after just two weeks. I watched a Yankee game on ESPN and whoever the announcer was, was saying how hard it is to leave warm spring training and then have to hit in the cold, with multiple layers of clothes on. Could very well be the reason.
  2. I used to travel for work, mainly machine startups. I always wished something like this was available, so at least I could sleep in my own bed at night. But I also used to think how this would affect other industries. It is very interesting when you start applying this to multiple things. Most things that have anything to do with airlines collapse. I would assume quite a bit of the trucking industry also. Come to think of it, I don't think they ever teleported anything larger than a human.
  3. Don't they have deer in France? Or do they use bigger windshield wipers?
  4. Couldn't sleep last night so I tried to find something new. Tried Amazon for a change. Came across "Tin Star." Has a Bosch like quality to it. One season so far, 10 episodes. On episode 6 now. I would bet anyone who likes Bosch will enjoy this.
  5. His career did start with a poor OL. A very poor one. A pretty bad head coach also. I think the guys that you list are after Saban had his way with the team. Another reason why Lou will always have a special place in my memory.
  6. After a week and two days, 14 players remain above .400. There are a couple just under that could come back up, Gregorius is close for you Yankee fans. Maybe there are a couple who don't have enough at bats at the moment. I would bet Altuve would make last 5 but at the moment he is at .406 and is 10th.
  7. Humor is humor but it has changed a bit over the years. I would put "Some Like it Hot" and the "Out of Towners" (Jack Lemmon version on my list. There are plenty of funny Jack Lemmon movies. And unless I missed it, I am surprised not a mention of any Marx Brother movies. If I had to choose only one, I would go with the Holy Grail.
  8. An even better nasal workout.
  9. I thought a Russian, Boris something, invented the cotton gin. Of course that may just be the Mendelovsky affect.
  10. I have read references to the explosion but never knew the details. Can't really imagine what it was really like. A tip of the hat to Vince. Your links are a high point of the day. Thanks.
  11. So what is the best cure for moss? There are area's in my back yard that are 20% moss. In my front yard, where I have multiple 18 to 24 inch diam oaks, it is even worse. I have noticed that the first 4 feet from the road seems to be ok, although I believe it is the road salt might be helping it. Does this require a machine?
  12. I watch every year but due to a case of CRS, it does not help me with a prediction.
  13. When the last batter in the majors will drop below a 0.400 batting average. I have always considered batting 400 for the year one of the hardest things to do. It hasn't been done since Ted Williams, although a couple of hitters have made a good run at it. So I am going to say the last batter with a 400 average will lose it on May 8th. Note some may climb back over it but this is the first day no one in the majors will have a .400 average. To qualify, at the time the batter has to have the minimum number of at bats to be listed in the MLB stats. Any other takers? As I write this, 39 hitters are at 0.400 or above. Of course at the moment, there are is no minimum at bat requirement.
  14. I am voting for Harris also.
  15. It would be interesting to know how the individuals on the OL graded out for the game.
  16. They have a variety of preps. My last one was much less followed by a lot of water. Worked just as well. Don't have any idea why some doc's make you drink a gallon of that stuff and others don't. The first time I had one, I drove my self so I was awake for the entire thing. Very interesting.
  17. Kinks and Yardbirds in the same post. I would throw in the Strawbs, Fairport Convention and Fleetwood Mac. I prefer the Peter Green version.
  18. I used this list for two series to watch. Not successful on The Bridge, at least not the Danish version. I found it I think on Netflix and at the start of the show they showed an exit for Paisano Drive. I thought what would the exit that leads to the softball fields in El Paso have to do with this bridge story. Well, I guess the original The Bridge was good enough to be copied in different countries I think 3 or 4 times. The US version is between El Paso and Jaurez. I really wanted to watch the Danish version, so I passed on that. Looks like they are also doing a version at the Chunnel. I ended up watching The Stranger. Your description was right on. Very good, may be the most intricate plot I have ever seen.. A bit drawn out. I would like to see a US version of this made although I am not sure how the cultural differences would affect the story. I'll continue to use your list as I had already enjoyed Happy Valley, Broadchurch and Mrs. Maziel. So I think your tastes align with mine.
  19. I do that also. I have wondered why I do that. If I do it the other way the meal just doesn't seem right.
  20. About the same time people found out what they put into a hot dog.
  21. Since it sounds like you are into this, I have some real good news for you. When you get older you don't have to wait 20 years, it only takes a week.
  22. It is a lot different when you have a 300 lb guy running at you and for some, a line you have to look over. I would have thought the question was "How do any of these guys succeed.
  23. When you put pennies on the needle cartridge, it is not a record player or a turntable. It is a lathe.
  24. When I saw your statement about the NBA I thought, no it is illegal to play zone in the NBA. So I am a bit behind the times. I did a search to verify if it was or wasn't and came across the following article. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/nov/25/nba-learned-love-zone-defense
  25. Pre-game Thanks for all the laughs. How about some post game comments now. Also I saw the end of a tag line on ESPN today about Izzo but I didn't catch what is was about. Something about him helping get the solution. Anyone know what that was about?
