  1. When they first showed that ticket on TV, I thought 20:1 odds for a 1 versus a 16, and the number 1 seed at that, that's pretty crappy odds. But then again, Vegas is about making money and I it was good enough for someone to lay down $800.
  2. It is online. You pick 0,1 or 2 batters every day. If they get a hit your streak continues, if not it ends, but you just start over. You don't have to play every day, you can pick any hitters on any day. Really gets you looking at hitters on teams other than your favorite and also the hitter/pitcher match up. The site gives you some quick stats on the match ups so it helps a little. The game doesn't start until opening day but you can read about it on their site now. On a different subject, somewhere around Father's day MLB gives you the online viewing package at half-price. I like to sign up for it then. I primarily watch the Dodgers but since I have been playing BTS, I watch other teams also. Haven't enjoyed baseball this much since High School.
  3. I believe you are a baseball fan, so I wonder if you have ever played Beat the Streak at MLB. It has really re-invigorated my interest in baseball.
  4. Here is a link to an article at the Syracuse Post Standard about the zone D. Since it was a topic here, I thought Syr fans that are out of town would find it entertaining. http://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/index.ssf/2018/03/syracuse_basketballs_magical_mystical_zone_defense_in_the_ncaa_tournament_it_wor.html
  5. There "are" tons of great college programs that don't put talent in the NBA. What does that have to do with Barkley's statement. He is saying if they practice against one on one every day they would be better against it. The same argument could be made by saying a team that practices against the zone every day would be better against it. One of the reasons why the zone is so successful. Besides the fact SU takes it to a different level. If you don't think that practicing against a certain defense makes you better against it, I have to wonder what all these coaching are doing. And that goes for any sport.
  6. I thought that was an interesting take on the subject. I didn't get that he said they suck because of it, I understood they are not as developed as they could be against the man on man defense. When you watch the SU offense, I think his argument has merit. On the Carmelo was the only scorer, it's an exaggeration but if you look at what SU players have done in the NBA, he's correct in that no one stands out like Carmelo. I think he is ignoring the talent SU gets to work with. It certainly isn't like Duke or Kentucky talent.
  7. I can't believe it is legal to drive that way.
  8. Doesn't look like it. Yesterday it was hitting Maine, today it looks like Newfoundland.
  9. Looks like Maine and Northern Michigan have a chance to see them. Large flare hitting earth the next two days. Maybe the prediction will be off and it will get down to NYS. https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/
  10. He down played how often they played the zone. Seems to be getting more popular. Watching Bonny play a zone now, although it is a 1-3-1.
  11. I saw an interview with coach K sometime in the last two days, he mentioned that Duke can play zone and has in very limited time. He gave credit to Boeheim and Hopkins for showing the Olympic teams how to play zone, which helped him understand it. I found that kind of interesting.
  12. I wear progressive lenses. Basically I had trouble with distances 20 years ago that started the glass requirement, then as you age, you have problems close. Anyway, about 8 years ago I had an exam and I say to the doc, " I can take my glasses off and watch TV and it is as good as or better than with the glasses on." He stated that at a certain age your distance vision starts coming back. It won't return to perfect but you can get away without glasses in some cases. For sunglasses I use these. https://cocoonseyewear.com/ I hated spending the money for a prescription pair and these come in a variety of polarized lenses. The yellow lenses are great, especially at sunset and in snow. The frames are guaranteed for life and you can replace the lenses.
  13. Last week, a friend told me that SU has never won a game in the ACC tourney.
  14. There was a joke at the time. MJ, " Teddy I'm pregnant" Ted, " Don't worry Mary Joe, we will cross that bridge when we come to it"
  15. I can't think of another movie that handled time and an perspective the same. Are there any? The movie really showed the randomness in returning home from war. I am always struck by that.
  16. Before the game started, they were 12th in the ACC. I think they would have to go to the finals of the ACC to have a chance.
  17. Sky King! Say hi to Penny for me. Saturday mornings in the 50's and early 60's were something else.
  18. I liked both openings. The second years into with the vanished people in the pictures and that unusual song struck me as the perfect combination. I will stick with Rawhide.
  19. Interesting on how things get interpreted. When I saw the title of the thread, I thought Italy. In the city, any city that I have been in, paying attention to signs and right of way seem totally optional. Don't want to wait for a light, cut across the sidewalk at the intersection. The Autobahn is great until you see fog. In the 80's, coming out of Munich, the road has these slight rises and dips. I saw two delays going north with traffic jams about 2 miles long each. Within each jam. at about a half mile intervals, rear ender's with a variety of severity. Guess they couldn't figure out they should slow down.
  20. I also still have my old vinyl. Mostly 60's and early 70's. About 68 I started taping whatever I had to reel to reel because I hated to hear the records skip when there was any kind of disturbance. A fair number of my later albums are therefore rather pristine.
  21. My grandmother on my mother's side had stomach cancer in the early 60's. She had surgery and lived 25 more years. No chemo at that time. And while the family always referred to it as stomach cancer, I believe it was her intestine. On a side note, my son had a DNA test and it showed he had the indicator for intestinal cancer. He also had the indicator for heart issues, which came from my father's side of the family. I recently had my 50th high school reunion and one girl in my class beat cancer 4 times. It pays to have a positive attitude. The body is sometimes capable of amazing things.
  22. They don't have to worry because they give out loans to regular non-athletes. That theory has already been proven. Camouflage works wonders.
  23. The show "Whose line ..." is amazing. If they really do all that spontaneously, they are talented beyond belief. Even if it is prepared, it is dam good and the individuals in it make the show.
  24. That was pretty funny. I should have thought someone would do that when I posted, but I totally missed it.
