  1. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/amazon-prime-annual-price-hike,news-27083.html Raising the price $20/year to $119/year They say they have over 100 Million subscribers. Holy Cow, now that is what I call a good earnings increase.
  2. I thought it went back further than that, and the horses name was Genghis Kahn.
  3. I believe the chart is correct. It was how they were going to reveal it that did not make sense. Finishing last did not gain as much as previous years because of how they modified the odds, but it does guarantee no worse than the 4th pick. I find it hard to believe it will work out for the Sabres because the odds of the first pick are 18%. That means the odds for the rest of the field are 82% (rounded off). When you look at it that way, it is a long shot for #1, just a little better versus any other single team. When I first read the initial twitter post I was afraid I was just out of it, but after a while it just started irritating me so I had to post. I feel a bit better no one else seems to get whatever he was trying to say.
  4. So if low odds teams win, they pick first. So by example the Sabres would then pick 4th, and the teams that finished immediately behind the Sabres, assuming they didn't get picked in the lottery go 5, 6, 7. So it revealed everything and there is no need to show the last 5. Or is really the first 5? Maybe I should just accept the fact it is twitter, so in reality it wasn't meant to be understood.
  5. WTF. What does this mean in English? The first 10 counted down. 10 to 1 or with remaining 5 they mean 15-6? But if that is the case how can the first 10 have the lottery winners?
  6. Thanks for posting that. Every time a post of this variety shows up, it is always full of recent history. Ruth alone could carry that decade to the top. No single person has dominated a sport the way he did. We can add a golfer also, with what a search turned up. Bobby Jones was the dominant golfer in the 1920s and is regarded as the sport's greatest practitioner. His victory began in 1923 U.S. Open at Inwood and ended with his U.S. Amateur victory at Merion in 1930.
  7. This is basically just one group of lawyers trying to prevent another group of lawyers from having a big payday.
  8. The Bills championship season was '65, so that is the one I choose. So it was before the Superbowl but I think they were better in 65. Of course in a "should have happened thread," we could just as well have them playing for the Profootball championship two years in a row. I was always disappointed that they won the year before. Especially after guys like McDole carried on beyond their peak years with other teams and still performed at a high level.
  9. 1965 Season, played in '66, so you are correct.
  10. Buffalo Bills vs Green Bay Packers, 1965. It would have changed history.
  11. Just as you said, for views, both sides are nice. If I was going after pictures, I would consider both. BTW, one of the best things I have done with respect to the falls was stay at the Embassy suites on the Canadian side. The Falls view rooms are amazing. When I first got in the room I spent an hour looking out over the falls and the city, Niagara Falls, NY. I spent my first 10 years in NF and we made frequent trips to the Falls back then. I also spent a lot of hours on the upper Niagara River boating. The view covers all that. If you go to Embassy suites online I believe you can sign up for deals. I regularly get notices of deals for a room in the $75 to US $95 dollar range, which include a fair amount of credits for a variety of things. The US dollar is strong compared to the Canadien Dollar at the moment. The Embassy is next door to the Canadien Casino. Just be aware that their are different views so you have to get a Falls view and it cost a bit more. Add $20 to those prices I listed and note that are typically off weekend. The credits include a decent breakfast, credits at the Casino's, restaurant credits and site coupons. I always considered it a shame as to how the immediate area to the Falls ended up on the US side. Back in the 50's it had the "It's a Wonderful Life," Bedford Falls feel to it. I can't see that without thinking of downtown NF. The Sears in NF was one block from the bridge to Goat Island, and the city was full of local businesses. Also, you could hear the roar of the Falls a mile away. There was way more water going over it back then, so it was quite a bit louder. One a side subject, while looking at the Falls at the Embassy, I was struck by how the Falls actually ended up. For miles it runs up the gorge in a straight line and then all of a sudden it widens to the point it creates two falls. The American falls and the Horseshoe Falls. I always wonder why it ended up as two and so wide instead of just one. It would have to be water dynamics versus ground structure but I would have liked to see a documentary on how the last bit got formed. Maybe the Whirlpool was like that at one time. If anyone happens to know of a documentary or a book that covers that, please let me know. Anyway, enjoy your trip.
  12. As a big Kinks fan, I could not resist.
  13. I wonder if she posts here?
  14. Ted got ripped off but I have to admit in any other year, Williams or DiMaggio would have been the winner. Each guy had a great year. There is no way I would not vote for some guy who has a great year, hit 380, 40 hr and 100 RBI's and not get my vote because he was on a last place team. Say a Marlin did this. You going to screw the guy because of the front office? And that is assuming no other guy in contention can match those stats. So who are 1-2-3?
  15. That is true about a couple of Dodgers. I shutter when they come to back with men on base because it is basically all or nothing. I am surprised more guys don't take advantage of the shift and go the other way, but maybe as you say, they just don't see the incentive in that.
  16. Didn't make it three weeks. One of the reasons I believe it will never happen again. Maybe someone gets hot later this year and can break the barrier, but I really believe this is the hardest thing to do in baseball.
  17. Don't tell me about your figgin problems.
  18. Add up all your taxes . I will bet it is at least 45%. In the early 90's I was working in Sweden with some Germans and Italiens. We had this discussion about taxes and thought I was paying 15 to 25% at the time. Wrong. Add them all up and I was within 5% of what they were paying. With no free healthcare. I have Fed income tax, NY state income tax ( I love NY), SS tax, Medicare tax, Sales Tax, Gas Tax, County Tax and School Tax. And that's not counting the taxes on phones, hotels and cable. When I got through that discussion I felt like an idiot. ((TM) DC Tom). Harrison was right, Now my advice for those who dieDeclare the pennies on your eyes'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxmanAnd you're working for no one but me.
  19. So years ago, Pogo was correct. http://www.thisdayinquotes.com/2011/04/we-have-met-enemy-and-he-is-us.html
  20. I assume they do a split on that, part for electricity and part for the delivery. If so I would like to know the percentage of each.
  21. To think at one time that could actually happen. Ahhh, such a waste.
