  1. A shade over 60 years but I would say the transistor. All electronic things are based on it today. The next 60 it will be AI although its invention dates back to the late 50's. Just so happens it took a lot of transistors to make it work well, so the big advance in that didn't really occur until Deep Learning.
  2. They may have said that but that was not the intension. How man weeks of this before you have a gun shy QB? It is not like that has never happened in Buffalo before.
  3. It must be a real pain to put those collars on all them fish.?
  4. IMO, his voice was the perfect match for Grace Slick's.
  5. Sometimes you have to wonder what the producer was thinking when they mixed it. My #1 Beatle example of this is "In My Life." Having the singing all on one side is really annoying. In early times, I used to frequent the Newsgroups and a guy there did a remix of "In My Life" with better vocal balance and something a little bit different in the instruments. It became my go to for that song.
  6. Centrifugal force is a powerful thing. In the video at 1:38 is the guy picking his kid off the highway? Besides the seat belt issue, it is interesting to see what starts the entire process to begin with. Sometimes it appears it is almost nothing. Hydroplaning perhaps.
  7. The Band had a lot of potential, so it is a shame they were screwed by their manager. I believe I read the above about 2 years ago when one of the band members who was still touring was going to play Seneca Niagara.
  8. And then trade back again. 2's make good linemen and the Bills need plenty on both sides of the ball.
  9. The poster child for the NFL, " we pay for potential, not necessarily results."
  10. They also managed to get the ex-Bills receivers who couldn't get open in Buffalo (sarc). Although I am not sure if this kills your point or makes it.?
  11. In 1970 I bought the Liege and Lief album based solely on a full page add I saw in Rolling Stone. I soon fell in love with Sandy Denny's voice and purchased the two previous Fairport albums. Fotheringay is one of my favorite Denny compositions, between her voice and the excellent guitar picking. She left the group later in 1970 but returned in 1974. So sometime during her second stint with them, Fairport was in Syracuse at the Landmark theatre. No way I was going to miss that. It was a great concert and she was great live. The entire band was. That may have been the same tour that you saw them on. These days if a band like that played both Syracuse and Rochester I would attend both concerts. In all the many branches that Fairport Convention spawned, I followed her's the most. I initially followed Thompson but somewhere along the way I lost track of him.
  12. Have you listened to his early music with Fairport Convention? If so what did you think?
  13. This goes with a thought I had years ago. Why is it centered around certain words? Is there a sub-conscious connection with the sounds that make that word you use in those situations? Why is Gee-willikers or some other word not the go to word. My verbal history is cyclic. I may swear all to often for months and then nothing for months. I found it interesting that after I retired, I did not swear for months until I was playing cards with my ex-coworkers.
  14. Interesting in that it sounded like PM was singing along with himself in some pieces of Hey Jude. BTW, keep these coming. I am starting to look forward to these as much as I do the TIL's.
  15. Maybe he is the Gary Anderson of receivers?
  16. Are these live? I think Hey Jude is but I can't tell on Revolution.
  17. Thanks for doing this. Both pools make the season a lot more fun.
  18. Bump #2 Pickem and Survivor used to be mainstays every year on the Wall. Has it been deemed that it is not Stadium Wall appropriate?
  19. Pre-prohibition? How would you know, I didn't think you were that old. I think there was an entire thread on Vernor's once. Sadly, you have just ignited a craving for Vernor's and Ice cream.
  20. If the O-Line plays like it did in preseason, that could be anytime of opening day.
  21. Have you ever known a guy who does nothing but complain about his girlfriend to the point you think he will quit going out with her within the next week, and then two weeks later you found out he is engaged. That guy is the same as the guys you are talking about. Love can be a funny thing to some.
  22. Funny song and video.
  23. I only use Mobil 1 synthetic oil now. I don't change the oil myself anymore but use a guy who does it to earn extra income. He has a lift in his garage. I change it every 7000 to 8000 miles. The oil is really cheap if your willing to do rebates. I have paid as little as $12 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic. Here is the current link. I keep an inventory of two 5 quart jugs for whenever the time comes. https://slickdeals.net/f/11889943-mobil1-rebates-started?src=SiteSearchV2Algo Years ago there was a regular poster here who informed my about slick deals. Fezmed where are you? Anyway, it is now an addiction as I do not buy anything without looking for deals here first. It has saved me a considerable amount. Of course it also costs me as I buy some things I might not have otherwise.
  24. In the 60's I would follow the Dodgers on a small transistor radio. Could never get LA, but I could get their games when playing Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and St. Louis. I believe the station in St. Louis was KMOX. The St. Louis broadcaster at the time was Harry Caray. Today most people only remember him as the Cub announcer. AM is good for this at night. Not so much in the daytime. No skip. I also listened to WLS at night a lot in 65' and 66'. They were a lot like WKBW but they had a time every night they would play oldies, and I liked that. When I got to college I met a guy from NJ who listened to WKBW every night. He wanted the record "Thing of the Past," by the local Buffalo band ,The Tweeds." He couldn't find that 45 in NJ, so I picked it up for him. About 7 to 10 years ago, I saw a documentary on the Niagara Escarpment on either the History channel or Discovery. Up until then I thought it only existed in Lewiston. The funny thing about the documentary was it spent almost no time on the portion in Lewiston. Was interesting enough to generate an Internet search where I found this same map. That was one mighty big glacier.
