When you become familiar with the first version you hear, it is tough to commit to a later version. I was aware of the original Velvet Underground version and it was too slow to make that " I just have to keep playing it" list. However when I heard the Mott the Hoople version, I loved it, and it was the standard for me since the 70's. Then I caught this version and it is a toss up on whether I like the version I posted or the Mott the Hoople version better. So now I just play both. However, if number of plays picks the winner, this VU version wins.

For about two years I started my workday with this. Played it as loud as my laptop could without distortion and as many as five times in a row. Can't make up my mind what I like better, the drums or the little tweak on the guitar chords. Just a great song.

Sounds like the path of a Bills fan. Except for that final win.

He is only a junior. By recruitment time next year he probably has 3 times the offers he has now.

I believe "Hey, you never know" is a come on for the NYS lottery. In this case, sometimes it just doesn't work out. The name of the old blues song comes to mind, " If I didn't have bad luck, I would have no luck at all." http://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/upstate-ny-man-dies-after-winning-lottery/946124071

TIL or more accurately, became aware of, my lack of learning over the last 7 Days. Is some one on vacation? Did they shut down the Canadian internet? I'm old but I still appreciate the education. Thank You, Greybeard (not Gray Beard)

Oregano, a truly under used spice. Makes a Subway meatball sub go from meh, to wow.

I have never been through a lock, so this may not apply where you work but have you ever had a drowning by electrocution. Boats that are tied to a dock and connect to shore power, that are not properly grounded can create an electric field in the water, that if it does not outright electrocute a swimmer near them, stuns them enough so they end up drowning. From what I have read, when someone swims near a powered dock and this happens, more than likely someone jumps in to save them and then two people are in trouble.

The people on the fishing boat are so lucky the boat didn't go over the top of them after they jumped into the water. The thought of that prop on the power boat gives me the shivers. In the 60's I was racing in a sailboat on the upper Niagara when a power boat that size passed 10 to 15 feet in front of us. I think he had the cruiser wide open. The wake ran over the top of our bow and the boat stopped dead. I don't think the guy ever saw us.

Who wins this 7 game series?

Benny made it to the major leagues. Consider how much talent he had. Benny pitches and bats 3rd. That tips the scales by a large margin. Besides the sandlot kids played on a sandlot. If you can field on that, when you get to a decent field it only makes you better. And I am guessing the bears were probably younger. Sandlot had no age limit. Sandlot in 5. -

I found it interesting that you left the shoutbox at the end of the Pat/Jags game to "Prepare Dinner." -
New idea for preventing CTE

It is the rate of deceleration that is the issue. Cars have become safer because, for example, because the front crumbles, thus decreasing the rate of deceleration. And it is not like it is limited to deceleration. The old lineman head slap was also an issue because of the sudden acceleration. Perhaps the biggest issue in this is the limited distances you have to absorb the energies involved. A player hits his head on the ground, there is not a lot of space to put energy absorbing material, and the short distance means the rate of deceleration is high. The purpose of the absorbing material is in part to decrease the rate of deceleration. Due to the small distances involved, the rate of deceleration is very high. Perhaps everyone should wear a helmet like that Bills safety of years ago, who's name escapes me at the moment. External absorbing material would also work. -

Thanks for this. Was very enjoyable. Never realized that was Kurt Russell's father. Just as the story detailed, he was in a lot of things back then, and I think I saw a fair number of them. It also contained some interesting things about minor league baseball I never knew. -

The last time I went to CountryMax to get seed, I saw they had a bag of Sunflower Meaties. The bag looked like it had large unshelled sunflower pieces and some Black Oil Sunflower seeds. I had never tried these before as I usually buy Sunflower hearts, which are unshelled small pieces, and Black Oil Sunflower seeds separately. So I tried a 30 lb bag for $39. Turns out there were a bit more Black Oil seeds in the mix than I thought, and the birds, mostly Gold Finches, always eat the unshelled pieces first. The bottom of the feeder ends up totally black, filled with all the left over shelled Black Oil seeds. They eventually get to the shelled seeds and I had forgotten one of the reasons I switched to use less of the shelled seeds. One huge black mess under the feeder. The hearts cost about the same, 40 lbs for $53, as the mix so in the end they are a better value. No shell mess and the finches really love the hearts. There are times I have about 25 finches at the feeders at the same time.
