  1. Well, either it is a passive aggressive way of being snide about Allen or, more likely, the OP was about building strength in the middle of the O and D line as the proper way to build a team. In that case, qb just doesn't factor in, even if one thinks Allen is the most important piece.
  2. The modern academy is corrupt and creates degrees that often glorify the inane, if not the perverse. That does not devalue the authentic meaning behind the liberal arts. The point of a life devoted to contemplation, to meaning beyond the merely pragmatic, is to foster in human society the understanding that limited goods are ordered towards a transcendent end that does not fit into utilitarian calculations. A society that does not know this may be technologically sophisticated, but it is nonetheless barbarism. Civilization always required the sage, the saint, the artist to constantly remind folks to look beyond the time-consuming, arduous aspects of simply making a living towards renewed wonder. It's easy to laugh at folks who are today inclined towards the liberal arts as entitled snowflakes and the like, and students today are indulged and often also at the same time victims of indoctrination and prisoners of ideology. Authentic liberal arts actually protect one from that kind of mental straightjacket. Ultimately, the liberal arts are liberating because they do not aim to solve the world's problems. They keep one open to a dimension of beauty and mystery that is elemental and often lost amidst first world noise and third world misery.
  3. Scott Law grudgingly updating his projected win total from five to six.
  4. Well, I'm not advocating for a whole wr corps of lumbering bigs, but okay, if I had to choose, I'd choose speed as well. Don't see that it has to be just that, though as others have argued, perhaps you just use a te for the role I foresee for Williams.
  5. I think I understand your point. The NFL may indeed no longer value that skill set and perhaps most teams think of that player as a dinosaur. I was told Sweeney would have been a second or third round pick a generation ago because he was a prototypical te for a bygone era. Nonetheless, he seems to carry value even today. Maybe Williams is Hunter redux. I stubbornly believe this Bills' team could use a receiver like that, even if to the rest of the league that is an anachronistic assessment.
  6. Seems to me a WR who makes contested catches, has sufficient size to be RZ threat, and is a good blocker is a reasonable skill set. Whether other teams value that or not, it's something I think the Bills could use.
  7. Depends on if Seattle makes the playoffs their inaugural season, in which case it will be a tie. Outside chance the Sabres make it this year.
  8. You are the Scott Law of Sabres' posters. The team fumbled the rebuild, but they have a fair chance to be quite good in a few years. They are certainly not the worst team in all of sports.
  9. Well, they have Cole Beasley and Daboll is recreating the Pats* offense. I understand you probably shouldn't run the old Raider's style vertical passing game. I'm not against moving the chains and creating matchup problems. But the long ball has to be a key part of your game when you have a fella that can throw it eighty yards and speedy wrs that can go get it. Run game and underneath routes benefit as well. I think they know that, so I'm not too concerned they are going to ask Allen to simply take the easy short stuff. They'll be easy short routes because the D has to fear the chunk plays.
  10. Draft a qb with Allen's arm and then go dink and dunk. It's like drafting OJ and using him as a decoy. I suppose the young'uns won't get this reference. Including Brandon Reilly in the list was the joke.
  11. Just don't like the monochrome color look for anybody. Don't like color rush much, but better than blue on blue. Believe this further confirms that I am old. I like the throwbacks. I like the white-on-white. Blue on white is best look. Wish they'd do the throwback blues. Think our current unis are among the best in the league, though I like the standing buffalo better.
  12. It was as much the shock of the announcement as anything. If there had been recent hints Luck's injuries were such that he might be considering retirement, folks would have been prepared. As it was, twitter releases the bad news while the player is actually on the field and fans are watching him in the stadium. Easy to paint fans as dim Neanderthals, but context matters.
  13. I actually advocated for both. Allen is bigger, stronger, and a more effective runner. We'll see if both work out or not.
  14. Element 115 is Moscovium, so you are definitely a Russian bot. It quickly decays into Nihonium. After that it decays into Whocaresium.
  15. He's not expecting a top-15 pick, but the rest is plausible.
  16. Doesn't mean anything about the upcoming year. We'll see how golden boy does. Still think last super bowl should have been Saints KC.
  17. You should PM Stallions and see if the two of you can get together for a beer or something.
  18. I think Scallions will be disappointed that most fans are going to be rational on this topic.
  19. No one is allowed to be happy. If you are happy, you are a cultist, a hyped-up sunshine bunny dope. Are you happy now?
