  1. This thread is going to upset the self-proclaimed realists.
  2. So, between you and Giuseppe the only fella we're not worried about is Morse, the guy with the concussion issues? Nice. I agree the line needs to be upgraded, btw. I hope they make a run at Conklin and kick Ford inside to guard.
  3. This is all true, but if you don't mind, I'm going to focus on the possibility of progression to franchise qb. Still think it's better than a coin flip he gets there. He had further to grow (and therefore potential to grow as well) because he had fewer opportunities to develop the way top qb prospects in college do. Allen's character and desire to improve are not going to be the reason he fails. He obviously possesses physical abilities that are elite. I think you have mentioned in various posts the psychological factor and I believe Josh needs to learn to trust playmakers and that will come with the addition of more of them.
  4. Hapless and another fella posted a nice chart comparing qbr or some similar metric for all of Josh's passes from before the l.o.s. and over thirty plus, right, left, and center. Nearly every field was improved, some significantly. Just don't understand the folks who believe Allen had a bad year and did not show encouraging signs of becoming a franchise qb. Certainly, Beane and the rest of the team believe he is on that trajectory.
  5. The sleaze is strong with that team, from the owner down. The fact that the NFL treats them as the flagship franchise of the league is witness to ethical apathy and the preference for expediency, money, and overt success over integrity and untainted achievement as the standard for genuine champions.
  6. It's an unwinnable situation right now. Bott's patience looks like almost criminal lethargy. He can turn that around with an outstanding off-season, but I am skeptical he has it in him. Hope he does.
  7. I generally root for the NFC team. Some probably identify with the conference and go AFC (unless Pats*), but I tend to think of all the rest as the enemy. Anyway, if I am going to pick an AFC team, I'd rather it were the Chiefs than one of the newer franchises.
  8. Ahh, this one has more info. Think we should reconcile the Senate version with the House.
  9. I'm ambivalent as well. Sometimes the simple choice is also the wise one. Daboll seems to always want to be too clever by half. Nonetheless, continuity may help and perhaps a complex offense becomes simpler after folks have lived with it awhile.
  10. Who do you like at this point? Is there a fella so good you ought to trade up for him the way the Falcons went and got Julio Jones? Tee Higgins is my first choice right now.
  11. There's a thread in the Off the Wall forum on this. RIP.
  12. So, you're using a first round pick on G that can move to C and sticking with Ford at RT. Given Morse's concussion history, that is perhaps not foolish, though Feliciano was at least adequate as a backup at C. Lots of WR depth in the draft, not so much at Edge. Can't argue the importance of the oline, but this seems a bit of a luxury pick given all the other needs at the top of the draft. If they go that way, I suspect CB comes into play as well. I prefer the plan that brings in Conklin as Ford is not at all a sure thing to lock down that spot. Rather have a top RT inserted as bringing immediate impact. Also, you better bring in playmakers at WR, a hammer RB, possibly TE, either through the draft or free agency.
  13. Hard to imagine any division being softer than NFC East this year. OTOH, I think we will be better next year and playing good teams is a plus if you win a fair number of those games. It gives a young team confidence entering the post-season. I think Josh and the team will make a leap partly because I trust Beane to significantly upgrade the playmakers on offense.
  14. Pretty sure when nightmares have nightmares that kid shows up.
  15. The fella is a tool, but at least he doesn't have a demonic clown child for an avatar.
  16. Current social arrangements and mores are always enlightened and retro views are ethically tainted, because schools, Hollywood, twitter, etc. The groupthink of reputed iconoclasts seems ironic and funny to me, but it will be explained that dissent is only moral when it implicitly agrees with the consensus of the correct folks and institutions.
  17. I think he would be a steady veteran presence and he's good enough to win you games. I think he's an adequate starter, actually. I don't believe there will be a future qb controversy because I think Allen is better than you surmise and will be even better next year with an added year of maturation and better playmakers on the team. Regardless, Dalton is an upgrade to Barkley and strengthens the overall quality at the most important position on the team.
  18. I really haven't read anyone who did not admit the meltdown in the fourth and OT. So, I think everyone "accepts" that. All the same, if you go by the letter of the law, the Bills have points off the second half kickoff. The Texans played an entire game and had zero "in play" penalties. There were numerous pretty obvious "non-calls" that should have been in the Bills' favor and one obvious "call" against Ford that shouldn't have been. Bills are not yet good enough to overcome nearly all the breaks and nearly all the calls going against them.
  19. I think that is a plausible strategy and you are probably right. I am not convinced Ford is the future at RT. I'd rather have a solid FA there who is younger and maybe a bit better than Nsekhe, but I can see them giving Ford another year. Personally, I'd like to bring in a bruiser with some speed at rb. JK Dobbins from Ohio St. will probably go too early for when you would want to invest a pick at rb. I don't know where AJ Dillon at Boston College is projected to be available, but I'd like that kind of back. Maybe Christian Wade will be a fun surprise. Love to get either Jefferson or Higgins.
  20. Don't really disagree with any of these. I'd like to see Ford moved to guard and sign Conklin in free agency. I think Gore needs to be replaced by a young rb with power. WR#1 is top of the list.
  21. I believe the comment you are responding to is sarcasm directed at the negative folks on this board. Appreciate the favorable words and I believe you are likely correct. Still need a few pieces, but the trend is pointing up.
  22. That was my first thought, as opposed to the camp bodies comment which is the equivalent of the ubiquitious and seemingly obligatory "Super Bowl" comment every time the team signs someone who isn't a super star. It's never funny, but folks think it's clever. I'd love to see what Wade can do with a year of learning the sport under his belt.
