  1. Thanks for the fine work you consistently provide to this board, Gunner. How early in the 2nd do you see Swift and Dobbins going? Think there's any chance Beane would move up to get them? I surmise it would probably cost too much to move up to the top of the 2nd. (I know, you can make a good case for edge or OT in the second. I am intrigued by the idea of a really excellent backfield; in any event, just hypothetical, even if unlikely.)
  2. Yes, I understand. The post you quoted is not representative. There are plenty of posts that are not game day where that fella went out of his way to gratuitously bash Allen (i.e., threads not even ostensibly about Allen.) A few folks here qualify for hater in my opinion. I find it rather bizarre that apparently many think there are none. The point is moot, in any event. If there is a season, Josh Allen's play on the field will determine whether or not he's a franchise qb and he should have sufficient experience, continuity, and talent on the field to demonstrate if he's continuing on an upward trajectory or not. I thought so, but this thread seems to call that into question.
  3. Nextmanup is not stating "expectations and everything is on Allen's shoulders." He presumes in a crusading fashion that Allen is not good and we ought to be moving on. Did you ever look in on game day threads? He's got an agenda and it's surprising you discerned no hint of that. I've read the fella numerous times and I've got a background in literature and philosophy, so reading comprehension is not typically a problem for me, but you know, you're free to give your own summary and conclusions and the folks who give Lombardi trophies for such are also free to enjoy their imposed free time in such a fashion.
  4. Well, I suppose it may depend on how one defines hatred. Go search Nextmanup or BringbackOrton. There are a few others.
  5. I don't know if we have the ammo to get early 2nd, but if Swift or Taylor fall I can't imagine them available beyond that point. (Dobbins is in that conversation, too.) Akers is the fella I like who might plausibly be there at #54, btw.
  6. I can think of three or four who only post so they can hate on the fella. They literally hijack threads to tell you he is not and never will be any good. You have to read very selectively to miss that. Nearly everyone agrees he has to play better and almost everyone recognizes that saying that does not equate to hate.
  7. Props for egads . . . The addition of Diggs is huge and D. Williams might turn out to be a very smart addition to the o-line, but the offense still needs addressing. RB2 or 1B or however one conceptualizes the position ought to be a priority. I like a few players for WR4 with some size, too, but I agree if Taylor inexplicably falls, Beane needs to move up to get him. As an UGA fan, I'm also partial to Swift, but I assume he's gone late first round.
  8. The answer is they never had a season. The NFL used a lottery system to determine the draft order. The Bills ended up picking 32nd. Now go out and cut the lawn. (Just channeling irate wifey. Love the fin-de-siècle aesthetic references. I wrote a novel with a significant character named Absinthe.)
  9. Just realized this is an illustration for well-oiled war machine. She seems nice . . .
  10. Hope there is a next season. Lots of gloomy projections from folks in the Herbstreit thread.
  11. Yep, this is the season God had scheduled for the Bills to win the Super Bowl. (The Divine has a dark sense of humor.)
  12. Shocked if Swift is available anywhere near 54. I"m an UGA fan, so biased, but he's going to be very good. I like Akers as the best back likely to be available at that spot.
  13. Don't wait till the seventh. Rodrigo is worth a 5th or 6th.
  14. The comment I was responding to was limited to whether we would sign an Edge. The Clowney or no one opinion is in that context. We have room for a few smaller free agent signings and vet rb is certainly one of the possibilities.
  15. Yeah, I think its Clowney or no one at this point, though if they sign Griffin we can start calling them The Get Off My Lawn Gang.
  16. The white helmet is much cleaner. Personally love the standing buffalo, but the charging buffalo is not bad. I can understand folks being nostalgic for the red because associated with the Kelly years, but otherwise it's right there with the Sabres' slug imo.
  17. I think they could find the money, but not unless he readjusts his expectations somewhat. He'd be great in our D.
  18. Clowney is still out there. I really hope Beane makes a pitch.
  19. As I said earlier, I think this is true of most on this board, but if there are only five on the whole planet, several of them definitely post here. @Nextmanup, @BringBackOrton
  20. This is basically correct. I expect Josh to improve, especially with improved weapons and continuity on the o-line (well, I'm hoping in both cases, but it's not implausible.) What is equally a question mark, and you point to it, is whether McDermott can trust Josh enough to let him rip without waiting for a have-to-have it fourth qtr comeback situation to take the training wheels off. Also, can Daboll avoid the too clever by half play calling -- in the old K-gun days, the D knew what we were running and they still couldn't stop us. We need some reliable plays that don't rely on tricking the D into expecting something else. And yes, virtually nobody, but there are some very irritating nobodies.
  21. I think this is right. Have to hope continuity allows the o-line to play better than last year. Evidently they are counting on Ford developing into a competent RT. Let's hope. A much stronger rb room ought to be a priority. At minimum, two dangerous backs. I like Dobbins early, but you'd probably have to trade up for him, Cam Akers may be there at 54. A J Dillon later in the draft for a power back. Unfortunately, the WR4 I like are also round two players, Pittman and Claypool. Maybe Beane can pull off some witchery.
  22. Not sure he is going to get more than that in the current market. Supposedly he turned down 17 from the Phins. That might be the high water mark.
  23. Well, if so, they are just as dogmatic and unrealistic as the folks who already know Josh is a bad qb. I agree that one hopes for another leap in year 3. I am operating under the surmise that is likely. Assuming we get past the current health isolation, we'll see soon enough.
  24. Does anyone think he doesn't need to improve as a passer?
