  1. I was enjoying KC's struggles and the thought that we had provided a blueprint to discombobulate Kermit & Co. Not so fun when the proposal is that the black hats have figured out our offense. Still think the main issue is oline and lack of running game. Things have changed and I am pretty old, but in the Kgun days, teams knew what we were going to do and they generally could not stop us, regardless. Thurman Thomas and a superior oline made a world of difference.
  2. They want us to lose.
  3. Happy birthday, retro artificial intelligence fella.
  4. Maybe that Manning MNF curse is a thing.
  5. It is semantic and something of an intellectual quibble folks mainly aren't interested in except as a reason to argue over a quibble. Objectively, the winner is the fella, gal, or team that wins the trophy. Whether they do so because of luck, talent, bad officiating, etc. or a combination (frequently the latter) is something one assesses on a case by case basis. In general, one can say having great players increases your odds of winning. I think we have some great players starting with Allen.
  6. I am cautiously optimistic. They are rebooting yet again because 1) They tore down in the tank years too severely, 2) Then they tried shortcuts through FA and trading away draft picks like candy for veterans that didn't work out. It takes years to develop a goalie. Portillo and Levi give one hope, but they are probably three years out best case scenario. Next year, they have to bring in some good stop gap goalies, have to. This year, we are trying to develop the young fellas and land a top three draft pick. Not exactly a tank, but there's no way they can be good even with effort because there's not enough talent to be anything more. The Pegulas to this point have not been good hockey owners. They've meddled as opposed to the Bills where they ultimately stepped back and let McD and Beane establish a winning culture and do their thing. Hopefully Adams and Granato are the right hires. Patience is the only tenable strategy. Hard when you've had ten awful years.
  7. If they acquire him by waiver claim, they also acquire his massive contract. Don't think anyone is going to claim him on those terms. He'll become a free agent.
  8. Yes, understood. That was implicit in the rhetoric I chose, but I suppose I should have stipulated in the manner you have done.
  9. You might be right, but then I surmise the implicit counter to what I expect is that the "sum is greater than the parts." I don't see it. To me, Josh's superior athleticism is bailing out a line that at best is inconsistent. And I suggest the FA signing of Morse was meant to provide an anchor. Morse is not terrible, but he is perhaps somewhat above average if one prioritizes pass blocking, which I think plausible in today's game. I'm going to stubbornly claim that Beane ought to invest in more talent there, whether it fits his modus operandi or not.
  10. While I think it's true that it is harder to build an elite o-line in today's NFL, the interior of our line is subpar. We need to do better.
  11. It was just a joke meant to indicate the poor play of Mongo.
  12. I predict Stevenson would only be a slight improvement at guard.
  13. Really doesn't matter at this point. The top four teams in actuality, but it won't be reflected in the poll are Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and then whoever you like from Cincinnati, Michigan St., Oregon, Oklahoma. There is separation between the top three and the rest.
  14. I always yell "you bastards" at the telly.
  15. Definitely an excellent test for the validity of the jinx. I say probably less powerful than announcer talking about how a kicker hasn't missed in twenty straight attempts and certainly not Madden cover strong, but you never know. Small sample size and most likely, as the optimist Gene has pointed out, all this is random. Stochastic incident, however, has never appealed to civilization, which prefers magical connections on the etheric plane as tips for betting.
  16. Trubisky is good enough you don't write off the season if he has to play. This is not a year to build futures at the expense of the now.
  17. Happy Birthday, fella.
  18. I think you're quite wrong in this thread, but rather than argue, when you are evidently firm in your convictions, I'll just suggest that the issue will be demonstrably answered in the following weeks. I'll be surprised if the Titans have the talent to adapt to the loss of Henry.
  19. Have fun with that. No pearls for you 😜
  20. What a great game to see. Too damn bad. The Braves' record after the All-Star break is very good. They're not a mediocre team.
  21. A board designated for political discussion, but it rarely attains anything more than ridicule of opposing viewpoints, the sort of thing where you accuse those who disagree with you of wearing tin foil hats.
  22. The NL has much more strategy. It's a different game when you have to decide whether to burn a pitcher for a pinch hitter in a particular spot. But the game is changing anyway, bullpen games and the like. Some folks seem to think you've got to have both leagues playing by the same rules. Why? I rather like the World Series with the DH in some games and not others. Oh, and go Braves.
  23. I've grown used to the swoosh. Our current unis are great, but the standing buffalo is the best helmet in the league.
  24. Eh, I like the long second season, but I do take your point.
  25. The 2012 L.A. Kings disagree.
