So actual numbers don’t matter. Just some random formula made up by nerds? Gotcha. Digging deep . 👍 and you’re making my point for Lamar for me (and I don’t even think he should win). If Allen and the offense didn’t suck for halves of games against the Giants, Chiefs, chargers, Pats, and Broncos, they won’t need a “game winning drive.” The defense was the only reason those game were winnable. The Ravens have stomped opponents from the jump and their defense has blown leads in their 3 losses. I think the Bills are a really good team that are getting hot at the right time. But there were far too many inconsistent moments this year to have the MVP.

Won’t this apply to Jackson as well? Also, for both Jackson and Allen, because they are elite playmakers, they both can hurt their o lines by taking some negative plays as well. I never played oline (skill player 😎) and it bores me. But it is so important and everyone seems to think the Bills oline has taken a huge step forward this year which is awesome.

Come on Captain. Read what you just posted. OBJ isn’t even as good as Davis. He’s a possession receiver who was in major decline and is coming off his 2nd major knee injury. I’d rather have better than both but in 2023, Davis is a better player than OBJ. also, do more stat pad when they up double digits or when they are trailing? The Ravens never really are losing this year. They dominate games from the opening kickoff and normally cruise to victories. Well you’re not being honest. Because 99% of fans here, myself included, would be losing our minds if Allen wasn’t the MVP favorite if we were the number 1 seed. Like Allen shouldn’t get penalized for the Dallas game because his team killed those frauds and he didn’t have to do anything,. and this isn’t a gotcha you moment. Ravens have a slightly better o line and defense. We have better offensive weapons. It’s very close. I do think them being +10 in turnovers while we are 0 (with only 2 less takeaways) is significant to wins
-
The Ravens give up 13 less yards/ game than us, 4 more sacks, and 2 less points/ game. additionally, they only have 2 more takeaways (26-24). But the reason they are 12-3 and we are 9-6 is they are a +10 while we are even. So to the people who favor Jackson, that and the losses, are the biggest case against Allen.

I agree that is silly but he definitely could have half if not more of those 1 yard tds Gu’s Edwards gets. Or extra td passes if a receiver doesn’t get tackled at the one. honestly, it’s all pretty stupid but it makes for good debate during the week. Most NFL mvps rarely win the SB the year they won the award anyways.
-
It’s stupid award and I don’t really care either way. but if the situations were reversed, you be screaming for Allen to be the mvp over Lamar because he is the qb of the number 1 seed who’s team never trails. I think the Ravens have 7 wins of double digits against winning teams this year (something like that). So they have a lot of Dallas games where Allen didn’t have to do anything. This is the worst season of Mahomes career. That’s how high he set the bar. Plus, they have 6 losses (and counting). I agree he might have the most garbage cast of any MVP caliber qb but it is what it is.

They traded one who has done nothing in Arizona. The other one, Bateman, got hurt a million times, and is a 3rd wr at best. Flowers is very good. They overpaid OBJ (who I said was washed in that disaster of thread we had) because they were so desperate to give him weapons who is meh. The Bills traded a 1st for Diggs. They spent a 1st on Kincaid. They drafted Cook in the 2nd. also, this isn’t Allen vs Lamar because I really like them both. Point is Allen’s cast isn’t as bad as it is made out to be here.
-
I get this point but it’s too extreme. I know I got my CPR certification and a lot of others did because of this. I also know many more places are getting AEDs because of this as well. So it has made some real positive changes. that said, he shouldn’t be comeback player of the year. Him going to all these crazy events and parties is his award.

As someone who loves going late to games and leaving early to beat traffic, I understand this logic. Especially in LA. dodgers and Lakers fans are as diehard as they come. LA loves those teams. The rest are only in demand if they are good. They could care less otherwise, plus there are so many transplants.
-
Wait, you’re telling me that 5-9 Chargers, coming off giving up 63 points; starting Easton Stick; coached by a guy named Giff; without Keenan Allen, weren’t in demand on a Saturday night in LA??? Shocked I tell you!!!

I mistyped. I meant cincy’s receivers are better but I’d rather have cook than Mixon. and I’m one of the few who isn’t biased here. I point out why other guys might have a good argument and it’s like you hate Allen (who I have repeatedly said is a top 3 qb). your reading comprehension also sucks and you’re very sensitive. I said Flowers is a stud in another post. He still is a rookie. And Kincaid was a top 5 TE when Knox was out. He was a legit huge weapon for us. I love the Bills and not just Allen, who is amazing. But some posters love putting down the offense to build him up. This is a top 10 group around him.
-
Flowers is a stud. The rest are meh. I know we had a 150 page on his being our number 2 receiver, but he is not even a top 30 receiver at this point of his career. I’d rather have Davis than him (though hopefully we improve that spot next year). Gus Edwards was their 3rd string rb to start the year. And Lamar hasn’t had his best offensive weapon for the last 3 games. Thise WRs get open because they are terrified by Lamar running. Same thing with most mobile QBs. Lamar might be the best rushing qb ever so it puts defenses in a bind. I can post his backups stats when they played vs his. The drop off is major (losing record l, more turnovers than TDS).
-
Yeah I agree with some of your points but Mahomes would be awesome here. He’d kill to have our receiving core. Lamar has also never played with close to a receiver like Diggs. I think him and Hurts would be good in our offense as well, though it would be way different. Agree on Tua and Purdy. I think Allen is better than Burrow but Diggs, Kincaid, and Cook are very good weapons in their own right if not as good as Cincy’s WRs (though I’d rather have Cook than the woman puncher Mixon).

Random talking head says something about the Bills
C.Biscuit97 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, as much as I hated Edelman as a player, I’ve grown to like him on pods (he’s great on Pardon my Take) and TV. He actually has a sense of humor about himself and offers up real football breakdowns. gronk offers nothing. The dumb meathead act is really who is (and I know more about that but I’ll leave it alone 😙). -

Tre’s teammates were super weak in standing up for him too. I think Hyde gave him a little shove. Reminded me of the Sabres soft response after the Bruins guy ran over Miller. and I used to like Gronk. Buffalo type of guy who I have a ton of friends who are like (myself included). But that was such a scumbag move. And get off tv. He’s really not that interesting or adds any real perspective to anything. Dude kinda sucks. -
This board definitely hates on Lamar. But I agree he isn’t have a normal monster stat mvp type year. but should a guy be penalized because they dominated teams early and don’t have to stat pad against soft defenses? https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/baltimore/news/ravens-have-been-mostly-excellent-but-close-losses-have-left-them-in-a-tight-afc-north-race-baltimore/ i see everyone’s side (and I really don’t care but it’s fun to argue about). Allen is the dominant numbers guy but it is a lot of losses and this offense has been inconsistent if we’re being honest. Lamar isn’t going to have the numbers. Purdy is a system qb. Hill is a dirt ball. CMC might be canceled out by Purdy. honestly, TJ Watt has a major case. That offense is horrible yet they are still in the playoff hunt.

See this is the part I don’t like. Putting down the rest of the offense to prop up Allen. Which would group would you rather have: Flowers, OBJ, Gus Edwards or Diggs, Davis, Cook? Honestly, I don’t think it’s close that our group is better. I get it. We want Allen to win the MVP. But it pretty disingenuous and insulting to the rest of the team to pretend like they are this poor group. and it’s PFF so it needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt but we are “ranked” 4th in o lines. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-offensive-line-rankings-week-17-2023 this narrative that Allen is playing the Jauron Bills is pretty stupid (also our defense is ranked 10th in yards and 4th in points). We have an elite, MVP caliber and a really good roster (maybe top 5) around him. I definitely think they need to do a better job quantifying certain stats. I’m 100% fine with those ints. I also think pass interference and holding draws penalties should be a stat as well.

Before the Browns game, they were 3rd in total yardage giving up less than 300 yards/ game. and that is why points is misleading. They gave up a pick 6 last night. They are constantly put in bad spots by their offense - short fields, coming back on after 3 and outs. It is hard to not lose your edge when you have garbage at the qb position. I think they are finally starting to qb but it is still a really good defense hurt by bad qb/ oline play. also total waste of Hall and Wilson, who are studs.
-
Pretty sure the mvp is Joe Flacco!!! Though he needs to cut down on the ints! that said, and I know it’s a separate award but the whole Browns coaching staff deserves it and is the most impressive thing I’ve seen all season. Losing the best rb in the nfl in game one. Their insanely paid qb out for the year. A couple starting o linemen. Cooper doesn’t play. It doesn’t matter. Can’t say enough how impressed I am with Cleveland which is something I’d thought I’d never say.
-
But this is the part where if you’re not being a biased bills fan is completely misleading. If the D didn’t play well in the 1st halves of the Pats, Jets, Chargers, Broncos games while the offense was completely garbage, they won’t have even had a chance for a comeback win. also, in all 3 of the Ravens losses, their defense has given up 4th quarter leads, including 2 double digit ones. Allen is far and away our best player and has MVP moments. We are beyond lucky to have him and he’s better than I ever could have imagined he’d be and our SB window is open as long as we have him. But man, it’s been a really inconsistent season. The last 2 games haven’t helped either because those were primetime showcases and it was very uneven.
