  1. Seems like one of the things Beane goes after is future potential. Love him or hate him, Edmunds was drafted very young and the expectations were he could improve greatly. Last year they drafted two guys, Groot and Brown who didn't play the season prior in college. Oliver was drafted after his junior season. And the biggest of all Allen, a guy many predicted to flop, but was drafted on potential and having a large upside to him..
  2. According to the article yes
  3. Exactly and these athletes, he mentions Harry are hanging out with these others who are also making $10 mil, it's hard not to some extent keep up with the Jones. Maybe once every couple weeks all the D lineman go out to dinner someplace and the bill is $5k and this weeks it's Harrys turn to pick up the tab. Doubt he's going to go live say on Grand Island either.
  4. Corrected! If all 32 teams in the league agreed to place the same identical roster decisions as far as keeping or dressing ST "experts" what you're saying would work great. But as soon as one team ignores the agreement, they may steal a couple of games. BTW ask Green Bay how that worked out. Is a certain irony too that Bojo is their punter as most everyone here was pining for him.
  5. That's what we used to do as kids! LOL
  6. Just read this article that the NFL is considering changing rules to make punts safer, the article though doesn't mention anything specific as to what they plan to do or even consider. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/changes-could-be-coming-to-the-punt-in-the-nfl/ar-AAUpoj8?li=BBnbfcL
  7. Vic Carucci's article yesterday kind of stated the same, expected the deal to be announced very soon, they were wrapping things up..
  8. Question for you, why does grass grow in the summer? Answer because the ground gets warmer. Put heaters under the field, which I believe they already stated they plan to do to keep the field from freezing. Would the heaters keep it growing all year, no likely once we get to the bitter cold of January would stop growing, but by then you're down to last potential game or two anyway and would still be OK for a couple more weeks. What typically makes the grass look terrible every winter is once it gets buried by snow and gets no sunlight, it turns brown. Can recall winters with little snow, lawn barely turned color. Maybe they even plan to put artificial sunlamps in the overhang area to help it grow a bit longer. Think they have grounds keepers too that tend to know a little more than the typical homeowner does about how to keep their lawn looking best. And BTW when I lived in Rochester, I'd typically mow till Thanksgiving, Often had to let the 1st or even 2nd snow cover melt to get the final mowing in.
  9. Agree about 18, but look at how long it took to finally get to 17. I'm sure it will be a big part of the next CBA discussion, but that's not till 2030. Maybe they'd still continue with the every other year NFC/AFC format even then??
  10. 1. I grew up in the NYC area and was actually a Jet's and to a lesser degree Giants fan. Moved to western NY in late 70's, still followed the Jets for a couple of seasons, then started more following Bills in early 80's and have followed since. It was much tougher following a team from a distance back then as no internet or Sunday Ticket to watch games, so made it easier to switch to the Bills. Recall use to buy the Daily News on Sundays just to keep up a little bit. Now live in North Carolina, but still follow and root for Bills as now much easier to follow for reasons stated above, plus this site. 2. Recall the Bills playing the Jets in playoffs in 81. Also recall that song think was done to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas, ....MikerMayer kicking, Frank Lewis catching!..... First football game I ever went to actually was Bills at Jets back around 1966 or so. 3 Probably the Oilers comeback game. Was blacked out on local TV so watched in a bar called Marshalls in Rochester area. Just like the stadium the bar cleared out quite a bit in 2nd half too. Was giving them one more possession and I was going to leave too, but in the end didn't need to. 4. Thomas, Allen 5. Use to live in Rochester area One thing this site has done for me, and not saying it's a good or bad thing, but just that it has changed me. There's only a certain number of hours in your day/week/month you can devote to sports in general once you get done with other things like eating, sleeping, working, family, etc. I think this site has caused me to drastically reduce the amount of time I spend following other sports. Use to watch a ton of college basketball, now hardly watch any. SU becoming close to unwatchable hasn't helped much there either. Don't watch as much baseball either or hockey. Living in Carolina has helped reduce the hockey exposure too. On the other hand probably come to this forum close to 365 days a year to see what the latest is and there's always some new story or rumor or something. My wife will often ask, why are you on TBD, the season is over!
  11. I already did this...... No wait that demand was for toilet paper
  12. That's voluntary on Jax part. Owner has some ties to England, think he owns soccer team over there. Do agree to with OP, now that they added the 9th home game and alternate conferences each year, think it will always be the teams with the extra game at home. So next year odds are high for Bills.
  13. Most of these takes were rather reasonable positions at the time and would have agreed with most. None were crazy ideas.
  14. Sure but are you really going to find that impact guy drafting #29? And also who would you cut then in their place. CB for example; White Wallace, Jackson, Johnson, Neal?? Would a rookie not drafted in 1st round for certain and maybe lower really have helped the team more than those guys all did based on their experience? They did draft 3 offensive lineman. and 2 D lineman. Agree there are still holes and questions, but not sure how likely it is to expect a rookie to come in and be an improvement over experienced vets. IMO the two positions that rookies can come in and look decent at immediately are RB and CB. For that reason I would be fine with drafting a CB in 1st round, particularly since Wallace may likely be gone and White may not be close to 100% till half way through the season.
  15. Will be interesting to see how Tampa draws this year without Brady and maybe a few other stars. If the team is at .500% will people go? The only saving thing they have going is without Brady the entire division will likely be bad so someone has to win games.
  16. But he also commented that he liked what getting away together gave them and how it pulled the team together.
  17. To me the worst is Greise, no one can get a word in edge wise.
  18. Has there been any real inside info or articles about this other than some writer putting something out there just because he plays for Carolina? Most of the "rumors" seem to have been started by posters here. I really think Beane has a better idea on the overall salary management of the team than you do and how much a guy like Neal is worth. Sure you can replace him, but can you really get the guy that does everything that Neal does and not end up spending close to the same? As the season wore on, he seemed to have taken on a bigger role when going up against running formations or teams with either two or physical TE's. Early on the guy they'd go to was more Klein which was fine if the team truly was running the ball, but not so good in coverage. Neal filled more both roles and think we may see that grow.
  19. It likely would balance out as there won't be new cities offering a boatload of cash either as they won't be paying for anything. It would strictly be a matter of where the owner want to spent his $1 bil to build a new stadium. Could argue likely costs less to build a stadium say in a smaller city like Buffalo than in a bigger city. The bigger the city, likely need a fancier stadium to compete with other places for people to spend their money. I'm also a bit confused, I'm no finance expert here but aren't these bonds and other money all coming from the state. So how does the fed have a say in how and where the state places their funds? Could see maybe in DC as that is more funded with federal $$??
  20. Don't blame him! I've noticed a glitch here on the site and you write post, hit submit, and nothing happens, so hit submit again and maybe a 3rd or 4th time only to see you now have 3 or 4 identical posts. Doesn't happen often, but maybe once a month or so.
  21. They do have till what is it March 16th before any roster bonuses are due? Haack I'm sure is gone. Klein, could cut his salary way down. He is good to have if either Edmunds or Milano is hurt.
  22. Likely the first domino to fall is restructures. Once they complete that, they'll have a better idea of how much additional money they need to free up via cuts and who didn't agree to restructure. I'm sure they are also having discussions with their own upcoming Fa's to gauge the market.
  23. That was meant to be a joke I'm certain! Yes Rodgers does like Kumerow, but not that much to make a career decision based on him.
  24. Watched episodes #3 and 4. Often watching old "NFL films" you'd hear that line "They're killing me Whitey, there killing me" Never realized that was Lou Saban till I watched this. Brought back many memories. 68 AFL championship game, Raiders and Jets. I was growing up in NYC area. Back then the game was blacked out in the NYC area as was the custom, games were never televised in the home market. Imagine today games not on home market TV!
  25. Could see them giving him a new 5 year deal as he still should be young enough to play it out at a high level. If something changes most of these deals are such that by the last year if not two, can easily be cut without taking a big cap hit.
