Spotrac spitballs C. Kirk & C. Williams to Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah maybe can get D Wiliams to take a pay cut, then agree worth keeping him. Then could have Williams, Williams, and Morse (sounds like a law firm) inside with Bates as backup or Bates as starter, then draft a C/G to take Morse or D Williams place in 2023. The other good thing about keeping Daryl is he can still play tackle if needed due to injury. Then you have Dawkins, Brown, and Doyle outside and either draft another tackle or maybe since Daryl can move outside draft another interior lineman. That leaves nine. The one wildcard left is Ike, will they re-sign him? If they do, likely will start the year on PUP list, could see the team leaving him there unless needed due to injury. -
Hypothetical trade-Erik McCoy
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Seoulofstone's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's $3.4 mil + $3.75 in dead cap. So you're spending $7.1 mil on the center position. That doesn't sound good to me for a guy on the last year of his contract. Next year to resign him likely need to pay him as much as you were paying Morse -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Seoulofstone's topic in The Stadium Wall
You say a much cheaper price? You need to add in the $3.75 dead cap hit for Morse. Now you're up to a total of $7 mil spent on the center position. Plus giving up draft capitol. People are often promoting cut this guy and replace him with another. But you need to look at the total cost of what you're going to pay to get rid of the first guy plus pay the second guy, then decide if it's really worth it and how much are you really saving In the OP proposal, yes you're still saving $4 mil, but think you could re-do Morse contract and get the number down close to the $7 mil and then replace him with a much cheap rookie contract. Haven't heard anything from him about retiring due to concussions, would think by now if that was his plan, you'd have heard. To me the best solution is re-work his contract, pay him like maybe $6 to $7 mil this year, draft a rookie G/C to be backup this year and starter in 2023 at center. I'd likely also sign one vet FA guard to start this year and re-sign Bates and Ike. Let Mongo walk, and get Williams to taker a pay cut. -
Is McDermott going to scare players away?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall
I believe I'm stating this correctly from a math perspective: There's an inverse relationship between the number of posts the OP has and how outlandish and crazy the thread is.! -

Minor coaching change on D line

Yeah I really was going out on a limb trying to figure out how to write it out as it's pronounced. That and Chili always got me! -
I think this sounds much more likely. Do question though if they'd let a team play two years in a row on Thanksgiving day. Obviously Dallas and Detroit do it. Do think at least two of the three between the Baltimore, Tenn, and Green Bay games will be also be national games,, either night or 4:25 double header games.

Is McDermott going to scare players away?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd call it more of a: "I don't like McDermott" post so let me come up with some reasons why he's not a good to show I'm right. As far as McKenzie goes there were some stories about how there was much more to the story with him about things going on at practice, etc. Likely before any FA player signs with a team, they make some calls to contacts they might have or even friend of a friend to find out what it's really like on said team. Other players know what went on behind the scenes and will tell. Recall reading both this year and last Diggs was recruiting players to sign here. Doesn't sound like there are issues going on to me. -

Or is he coming from north of Rochester by the lake in the area they pronounce as Shar-Loute -
For the past three season now we've had a FA vet as our #3 RB, how's that worked out? Hard pass on that idea. Get OL help and another TE via FA, I'm OK with that. Think I'd look for a rookie WR, assuming Morse returns for this season I'd also draft a rookie G/C to take over for him in 2023 as the starter This team has SB aspirations, to me having 9 rookies on the defense doesn't sound like a very good idea. Plus not sure there's even close to that many roster spots on the defense, granted some of the late round pick will likely be cut. Think I'd try to package the 2 7ths and a 6th and try and move up to the 5th with those. Then use my other 6th on a rookie punter who also holds very well and call it a day.

Caesars Sportsbook 2022 NFL MVP Odds: Josh at 9-1
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
Add in Green Bay was the #1 seed and pretty consistent throughout the season, that didn't hurt Rodgers chances either. Bills were very up and down, ended with the #3 seed, partly due to playing better down the stretch, but also losses by other teams helped too. -
Questions Surrounding a New Stadium in OP .
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
In the grand scheme of things, it's probably nickels and dimes we're talking about with these things. Also get into timing issues. Likely the Bills will play out some season in the old stadium and the following summer be in the new one, so would give them basically about six months to move everything if being reused. Could that be done in six months, likely yes, but again the grand scheme, is it worth it? Also technology years are like dog years. So if the screens are one year old that's like 7 year old technology. -
Agree. Think it will take a couple of years to decide based on what the Rams do in the next 2 to 3 seasons. Recall reading an article about 3 weeks ago listing the top 50 potential FA available. The Rams, Chiefs, and Bucs must have easily had a dozen between them on the list. Add in that the Rams also don't have many draft picks sounds like a recipe for disaster. They also have an aging QB, plus a couple others who are mulling retirement. So if the Rams can figure out how to retool or resign many of these guys, then may be more duplicated. If they fall apart, then likely not. Lets throw a conspiracy theory out there. Do wonder if the plan came from up on high as in Kronke. LA hasn't exactly been a great city for fan base. Not sure how ticket sales have gone since the Rams returned, but did they do this to lock in season ticket sales to help pay for his share of the stadium he just built?

There have been plenty of bad SB's played during 16 game schedules too. Can argue the game was good or bad, but have no way of arguing that it was due to the 17th game. As far as being gassed, never heard the actual results but was predicted to be the hottest SB ever. I'm no statistician, but would think the temp would have more effect on players being gassed than the 17th game! The Bills and KC defenses both looked gas by the end, that was 3 games less played.

How bad is it for Lesile Frazier?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Marvlevydraftdaygenius's topic in The Stadium Wall
It may be apples to oranges, but they are both still suffering from the same poor soil or drought or whatever. So that they have in common. My point is there's plenty of coaches around who've got 2nd and even 3rd chances. Frazier hasn't, and not saying he deserves it, but do think being in McD's shadow doesn't help him any as it also doesn't help Bienemy As long as he has Reid and Mahomes standing next to him, they'll be questions about how much is really him. Admittedly Daboll has some of the same question marks due to Allen, but the one thing that helped Daboll is the experts all predicted Allen to fail so Daboll has got some of the credit for Allens success. Bienemy doesn't get much of any of that credit for Mahomes. If Bienemy wants a shot his best thing may be to get away from KC. -
How bad is it for Lesile Frazier?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Marvlevydraftdaygenius's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just was reading that Eric Bieniemy is undecided about coming back to Chiefs. It could be a tactic to get more money from them or could be like Frazier, he's figured out he's not going to get a HC job when working in the shadows of Reid and Mahomes. Just as I think that may be hurting Farziers chances too being tied to closely to McD. -
Danielle Hunter, DE, the perfect trade candidate
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
You say last years investment, but out of the 11 D lineman on the active 53, 6 of them are free agents this off season; Addison, Hughes, Zimmer, Phillips, Butler, and Obada and good chance they cut the seventh, Star. Of those the only one who played only due to injuries elsewhere was Butler, and maybe Obada to a lesser degree. Believe only 4 guys back on contracts, Oliver, Epinesa, and last years two rookies. And Ankou was signed to a futures contract. So the cubbard is rather bare there even with what's been done. Hopefully they resign Phillips and maybe one of either Addison, or Hughes to a low one year deal. -
Super Bowl LVI: Bengals at Rams

Wondering if there's a prop bet on how many times during the broadcast; i.e. game, pre game, post game someone, Michaels, Tricco, other says: "Make sure to stay tuned to NBC after the SB to watch the exciting Ice Dancing Final!" I'll put the number at 10 My wife likes watching the skating, but not enough to stay up to 11:00 to watch it either. -
The one way I'd see it may make sense to bring him back would be if they resign McKenzie (IMO doubtful) and let Beasley walk. Sanders could fill the slot role against zone defenses and McKenzie plays against man and maybe even improves against zone. Assuming too it's on a much lower contract, in the one to two mil range, kind of what they were paying McKenzie last year. Recall reading last spring/summer that Sanders can play the slot very well, maybe even better than outside.

Zuerlein mock draft...Jordan Davis DT
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Have you looked much at the bills upcoming FA's They have 8 on offense, 8 on defense and T Jones on ST. Of the 8 on offense only I'll call it 1.5 Bates an Sanders were much of main contributors by year end. On defense, the Bills had 11 D lineman on their 53 man roster, but five of them are upcoming FA, Hughes, Addison, Phillips, Zimmer, and Butler. Add in many think they will cut Star. So even though they've drafted a number of D lineman, they are in need of more either through the draft or free agency. In addition to these five, Wallace and Neal are also FA's so in spite of what many here feel about needing to draft on offense this season, there does seem to still be more need to draft on defensive side. Maybe they will address these spots through free agency pickups, then things could change. -
Bills Hire Kyle Shurmur, Son of Pat Shurmur

Wonder if this is one of these things McD and even Beane remember their roots and will try to hire some new upcoming "intern" like coach to give him a shot. -
Sean McVay considering stepping away from coaching?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
There was an article a couple weeks back I read listing the top 50 potential free agents. (this was before Brady announced he was retired) The three teams with the most big name FA were the Rams, Chiefs, and Bucs. Of the three, the only team that also is without most of it's upcoming draft picks is the Rams! Not only did they give away draft picks to acquire their QB, but he doesn't have many years left either. So agree the Rams are a team heading for a fall. His record is 6 games better than McD, but he walked into a decent team where the Bills were a mess to start with. Last three seasons McD's record has been better as is Andy Reid. -
Just looked at the list of upcoming FA for the Bills, there are 8 offensive, 8 defensive , and T Jones on ST However of the 8 on offensive, only really one to two that were counted on much: Trubisky, Breida, Kumarow, Hart, Bates/Boettger (lumped them together as kind of took eachothers spot) and even McKenzie, and Sanders contributions were more limited. The only one you really need to worry about replacing on that list is Bates/Boettger. Where on the defensive side, of the 8, the only one who didn't contribute much and wouldn't be missed at all was Butler and to a lesser degree Neal. The other 6 will all need to be replaced to some fairly high level. So would tend to agree with many of the comments doubt it will be a substantially higher number of draft picks on the offensive side unless they concentrate a high majority of FA signings on one side of the ball.
