How bad is it for Lesile Frazier?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Marvlevydraftdaygenius's topic in The Stadium Wall
Think one of the issues Frazier has to overcome is being in the shadows of McD. Since McD's background is from the defensive side of the ball he gets some of the credit for the D and takes away from Frazier. Likely part of the same issue Biemeny in KC is having as in the shadows of Reid. Also defensive coaches are considered much less sexy than OC's from a hiring standpoint these days. Likely Frazier isn't up on all the latest buzzwords as some 35 YO DC might be. Could argue that Daboll's success was due to having Allen, but seems the NFL world tends to more give the coach the credit for making the player. Likely helped Daboll too in that Allen was considered to be a huge risk and not likely to ever become great, so coaching is probably given more value to Allens success than say a Mahomes. -
Agree. Also feel CB (and RB) are the two positions rookies can come in an excel at right away. With limited money makes sense to bring in and start a rookie CB. Think Davis has done enough to establish himself as a legit #2 at a minimum "co-#2" so from a needs standpoint you're really looking at a slot guy unless Beasley does return and a burner, but more for the #4 or as I called Davis a "co-#2" so maybe the burner and Davis switch in and out on plays and situation. Slot position is s bit longer learning curve so don't think drafting a rookie for that spot makes sense either to step in year 1. Davis and even Diggs have shown you don't need to draft a WR in the 1st round or even on day #2. There are some needs too on defensive side, depending what happens with Phillips NT could be a high need and even if Phillips does resign, still may need backup help. We had 11 defensive lineman on this years 53, while we often sat decent players on game day, we also have many of them are FA this year: Hughes, Addison, Butler, Obada, and Zimmer. Plus a 6th guy Star, that's could be cut due to high salary. You also need to have what I call a "landing spot" in other words don't draft a guy where there's not a roster need. We have 3 OT's on the roster for 2022, not really a need for another. Do agree on drafting a punter though, maybe even in the 5th

2021 Bills ST coach Heath Farwell joins the Jags
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Likely the assumption was it's a pretty routine thing, everyone knows what to do, not like you need to take a look at what the other team is showing you. You have maybe two minutes after the extra point before you kickoff, more than enough time to discuss everything needed. But.... Something somewhere went wrong with all that, either Bass not properly told what to do, Bass had a mental breakdown and forgot what he was told to do, or adrenaline kicked in and he thought he let up on it or the wind took it, whatever, but it went much further than he planned for?? -
Here's my prediction Tenn @ Green Bay (unless Rodgers leaves) Think it will be featuring an NFC home team, my reason is this year the NFC gets the extra 9th home game so teams would have less to argue about losing a home game since they are gaining an extra one. Tenn @ Green Bay features two highly thought of teams, both playoff teams in 2021 and expected to be there in 2022 as long as Rodgers doesn't leave, but also not one of the highest anticipated games of the year like Bills V KC If not this game do think it will some game involving an NFC home game as they get the extra one. Pitt @ Philly, Balt @ Giants, Colts @ Vikings would be other possibilities IMO

The problem with the Rams, KC, and Tampa (with Brady gone their window likely closed regardless) is they have a number of upcoming FA. There was an article I read couple weeks back and listed the top 50 potential upcoming free agents. Those three teams had to easily have a dozen of them on the list between them. Also in the Rams case they traded picks for players who will become free agents this year; Von Miller, Sony Michel and OBJ and their LT may retire. Plus not much cap space. KC also has a number of starters and backups potentially leaving, at least they didn't also give up many draft picks too.

2022 Offseason Primer Position Group: Linebackers
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
How is there a $12.7 mil cap saving for Edmunds since his option is fully guaranteed? The only way they can save anything would be if the were to trade him. But then every player listed would have a saving if you traded him. -
Kyler Murray unfollows Cardinals on social media
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Why do you think that? Based on throwing an Int?? There are plenty of those thrown by everyone. Not saying I think he'll be great in football, think he's too small, but didn't recall any specific incidents involving him. -
Bills 2021 rookie class ranked 27th in league
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not surprising when you factor in the Bills top 2 picks were defensive lineman, a position with alot of depth, was hard for rookies to find much playing time. Also have to factor in this is a deep team with not many needs. So not surprising that rookies didn't play very much. Actually what was surprising was that as many even made the roster. You're right, they only made the playoffs 4 or past 5 years and finished final 4 and final 8 past two years. -
Is Brian Daboll Driving Coaches Away?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
So in other words Ralph was a genius! He deliberately didn't sign Cousineau so he could use that pick in the future to sign Kelly!! -
Is Brian Daboll Driving Coaches Away?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
OK somehow I was thinking Cousineau was in 83. Or was it we got the extra 1st round pick in 83 because we traded his rights away?? Is that why I was thinking 83? Fixed your post LOL -
Should there be an NFL Lottery?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Since you stated changing the draft format I'll throw out another thought. Should the NFL copy the NBA and have the draft prior to free agency? Realistically would be hard to do schedule wise, but would it be better? For the past year I've often wondered, would the Bills have redone Addison's contract if they had known they were going to draft two DE with their first two picks. -

Is Brian Daboll Driving Coaches Away?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good chance you're right just because more that half of the coordinators who become head coaches do fail, but you never know when and where the exceptions come from. When the Bills hired McD many thought the same here. While some here who hate the guy will likely respond that he's not a good HC, his record doesn't agree with that. He and Beane have turned the team around. There's been many good teams and coaches over the years who didn't win it all. Having said all that do think the fact that Daboll took this long in his career to get where he is doesn't bode well for him. One of the few coaches who only succeeded well into his career was Marv Levy, but he had a very stacked team. -
Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
What you say may be all true, but my main point that I was responding too was the poster who stated he was: "waiting for McD to fire Frazier" Frazier and McD are kind of a package deal so even if that happened, likely he'd replace him with someone else running the same defense. And if he hasn't fired him two weeks after the last game, doubt it's happening now either. I'd like to understand what a "weak and scared defense scheme" is? Yes agree they gave up yards and allowed KC to sustain drives. But to me it comes back to not being able to sack Mahommes and other QB's throughout the year. They get to them some, but not enough. Yes against lower level QB's it works because our secondary particularly Hyde and Poyer confuse the offense enough to not be able to convert enough 3rd downs. Certainly helped the Bengals too that Mahommes (and Reid) made some real bone headed plays too on top of everything. -
Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's been two weeks since the last game. If he hasn't been fired by now, highly doubt it's going to happen. Really don't think the problem on defense is coaching (excluding the final 13 seconds) but the problem is they don't have that 10 to 12 sack guy on the defensive line. Frazier is coaching the scheme McD wants so even he was fired, likely McD would want someone else to coach the same style. Barring a total collapse where they only win 4 or 5 games, good chance McD makes playoffs again and not getting fired -
Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
So you think if we give a team our 3rd round pick they will take Edmunds?? But don't give them our second?? LOL (Don't worry I understand what you really meant.) But do find it rather funny that most people here think he's terrible, but yet some team is going to trade for him. I get it there's always players that don't work out very well or as expected but yet some team will trade for him, usually at about 50 cents on the dollar. But how many players get traded who aren't nearly as good as expected but yet have the 5th year option picked up on them so it will cost the new team alot of money to take him. I tried to Google players traded after having 5th year option picked up, but didn't find anything, but maybe there have been some. From that standpoint my comment said jokingly about having to give up picks to get rid of him isn't so far off. Recall Cleveland was it took on some large contract a few years back, but also received draft picked for taking on the contract. You're at least more realistic than many here who think we could get a 1st rounder for him. If the Bills are able to trade him and get a decent return on him tells me the entire NFL values him much more than many of the posters here. And then posters will be ripping the Bills for giving away a good player. -
Thursday night games to cost Amazon Prime customers more
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to notwoz's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a little different though in that they are showing something live. How much Amazon programming or Netflix, Hulu, etc, is shown live. You're normally watching something filmed a couple weeks/months ago. ESPN doesn't but that's more a TV station than a streaming service. -
Athletic article forecasting our cap casualties
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Read the article, it talked about coaches and Schoen leaving for Giants and then also stated: "one staff member soon following". Any idea who that might be?? Agree would be good to resign McKenzie, but don't think he wants to come back. Likely the only was would be no one else wants to pay him much, but even then not sure he'd take more here. Seems he has a gripe with McD, from what is known is legit, but who knows what happened behind the scenes? -
FA Target Wishlist - Cordarrelle Patterson
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
What about the guy from the Jets, Berrios? Not likely put him in the backfield, but understand he plays the slot and can return kicks. Patterson may be better choice, but would Berrios be another option? -
Agree, lived in Rochester my favorite was Carbones for both pizza and wings. Always thought that was a local Rochester place, then someone here told me they started in Buffalo. Was devastated upon learning that! If I remember right Pontillos used sausage coins rather than chunks. That alone was reason to boycott.

Aaron Rodgers to the Titans ?? [Titans say "No"]
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
At this point in his career, could be more of a retirement home. Really doubt he'd be building a house in a location where he has no idea yet if that's where he ends up. He could easily wait till he's traded, then start to build True, but Rodgers has to agree to it and as many have pointed out, does he really want to go the QB rich AFC? -
If you say so, wasn't very clear if that was what he was asking IMO 👍

Expiring contracts don't count against the cap as basially those players are all due zero in 2022. The only way the team saves money against next years cap is to either cut a player under contract assuming the dead cap hit isn't larger than the actual cap hit. This past season Star fit into that situation, would have basically cost as much to cut him as keep him. The other way to save money is to re-do, extend, reduce existing contracts with the players approval. But to answer your question, ignore expiring contracts WRT the 2022 cap.

Webb is not our QB coach. Speculation was wrong
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
OK wondered about that if player had option to sign it or not. So also possible he told the Bills he wasn't going to sign one, or just not a priority with him as he's not going anywhere. Did read someplace teams can pay more that league required amounts to PS players, so if wanted Bills could pay him more for "coaching help"
