  1. Yeah I'd probably sub Winters out of the line for Dane Jackson at CB
  2. I'd thought about that too, but not for those two specifically. Not that I'm saying it should and doesn't get done, but I wonder how illegal that is within the NFL laws, these "side deals"??
  3. Basically because they've only kept 2 RB's active every week. They can bring in whomever you like, but doubt that''s going to change so instead AP or Dare will be inactive every week. Not sure that Yeldon isn't an upgrade over them two anyway, but we truly have no actual idea at least over AP at this point in his career.
  4. True and for all we know he was just here in Buffalo because he feels that's the best place to have his nails done in the country. Or maybe the Bills are talking with him. Considering they brought 4 DT in the past week, with Star out, they must not be too happy with the play there and feel he may be an upgrade. If he plays at the level he can play at, it may be and upgrade.
  5. I'm not saying we should mimic NE. My point is with the right overall culture in place you can sign take some chances. And I didn't say all of the NE choices worked either. What I said was if he doesn't work out, you can dump him just as easily. And maybe NE will.
  6. Look at all the "Wild Child's" the Pats welcomed over the years with open arms. At a certain point and I feel the Bills roster is there, there is a culture created that could handle Dareus and keep him properly focused or there will soon be another pic of him getting his nailed done on the way out of town.
  7. Here's the other problem with your idea, teams typically don't want to take on bigger contracts unless the guy they are getting is a true all star pro bowl type of player, like the trade that was just made in Jax with the DE, not going to try and spell his name. A guy like Beasley or even Brown are in the middle, certainly much better than Foster, Duke, or Isaiah but not in the superstar grouping to warrant paying a large contract. Foster or Duke, you can get them cheap, maybe you have to give up a 6th or 7th rounder, but if they don't work out, that new team that signed them didn't lose much money wise either. And likely the draft pick may not have amounted to much either
  8. Just read a very telling comment in a column about why Williams and Foster are likely toast. Basically the point was: If the Bills thought guys like Williams and Foster were in their future plans, they wouldn't have used 3 draft picks on WRs (counting trading a 1st for Diggs)
  9. Well look at last year at this time how many concussions Morse had career wise and missed all of training camp. Posters here were speculating he was going to announce his retirement. Week 1 rolled around, he never missed a game. I take many of these training camp "injuries" to vets with a grain of salt. On the other hand for young guys like Sweeney and Foster, they are big deal missing playing time.
  10. I would have agreed with you up until about 3 days ago till McD basically stated Gilliam isn't ready yet. He could make the roster over T Jones assuming Jones is still not healthy stictly for ST play. Unless DeMarco isn't healthy but he could be like Morse last year, missed all training camp but was ready to go week one. We shall see how healthy all these guys are come Saturday.
  11. I'd argue the opposite is true, the praise for Duke is way over the top for what he's actually accomplished and makes no sense. The only reason you're even seeing over the top criticism is because there's so much ridiculous amount of praise for him and constantly seeing new threads praising a guy who's done next to nothing in four seasons in the league.
  12. So besides all the obvious comments already being made, you also need to a trading partner. That becomes harder too when all the other teams know you're dumping these guys in a couple of days anyway. The only advantage a team has in making a trade for one of them is they then get exclusive rights to him. So is that really worth a trade? You specifically mention SF and Green Bay, well I'd think if I'm the GM of either of those teams, also throw in Saints, Cowboys, Tampa, Minn, Atlanta, Seattle, plus AFC teams like KC, and Pitt I'd assume I'd have a leg up on the competition to start with as most WR would like to go to a team with a good to great QB, so again why bother making the trade. A more likely trading partner might be a bad team as they'd have a harder chance signing him as a FA, but is it worth the trade. I'm sure Beane is already advertising that he's listening to all offers for Duke, Foster, and McKenzie. Even if he wanted to keep one of them, likely would take an offer instead.
  13. Looks like I'll be getting the Carolina game locally, not chance at Bills game here. But I may just have sports urge to watch the game somehow.
  14. Before training camp started I was of the opinion that if Sweeney improved his blocking a little bit, they may dump Smith and keep Sweeney, but this injury has stopped that so think Smith is now a lock and Sweeney stays on PUP. As for Gilliam I thought the Bills liked him to and was thinking the same of keeping Gilliam and cutting DeMarco, but then hearing Mcd's comments yesterday about Gilliam not being ready yet makes me think otherwise. It's also possible that DeMarco would be fine if there was a regular season game in 3 days or so, but for training camp he's just resting. Remember last year, people here were losing their minds about Morse being out all of camp, he'll never make it through the whole season, posters were speculating he was going to announce his retirement. Game 1 rolls around, he was healed and don't recall him ever missing a snap.
  15. Pretty accurate assessment IMO Plus of all the teams in the league he only ranked 6 others with a lesser weakness. Considering the value a QB plays, to be only ranked 6th biggest question mark would imply he's not overly concerned. So what would you consider to be their biggest weakness since you appear to not agree with the article. He gave the weakness of 20 contenders, needs to include something on the Bills, so what is it then if not QB?
  16. LOL OK are we talking about DeMarco or Sweeney? As far as I know Sweeney is on PUP, but DeMarco is just out hurt.
  17. Why would you cut a guy who is able to give you a free pass to move to the PUP list? He's cheap so $$ saved isn't an issue. The reason for cuts, particularly the surprises are due to a numbers glut. Sweeney gives you a free move so what are you accomplishing by cutting him?.
  18. Thought it said he's still on rookie contract?? If so then likely wasn't there yet when McD and Beane were there?
  19. I fixed it for you! Collecting these ST players does tend to make guys like Jones and DeMarco more expendable, maybe that's the plan.
  20. Yes I tend to also agree about the motivational issues with Foster. Assuming the keep an extra WR, I'd rank McKenzie as most likely they'd keep followed by Foster only because of the speed he brings and Duke last as the team now has two big WR's so Duke doesn't bring anything special to the table that the team doesn't already have. Wouldn't shock me if Beane puts all three out there as trade bait. Assuming McKenzie is the one he'd like to keep, but if he also is the one he could get something for in return, he'd be gone. All three have relatively cheap contacts too.
  21. Agree if they add a 7th, it likely will be McKenzie. The only other thought would be if they want pure speed, they instead pick Foster. He again does give something unique whereas Duke brings nothing the team already doesn't have......well Excluding Duke's cult following here Starting to think they may cut Fromm which could open a spot either for a 7th WR or 9th DL
  22. Or maybe the Prince was making Peterman look bad. Chuckie didn't want ot be proven wrong!
  23. I won't be shocked to see Gilliam make the roster instead of DeMarco but can't see them keeping him AND paying him just for the meeting part. I think they just cut him. You can only bring DeMarco or anyone back from IR IF they are on the active 53 on Saturday. Could then move him to IR Sunday, but that means leaving someone else unprotected on Saturday. There's a pretty good chance DeMarco doesn't even get picked up by anyone else so could always re-sign him off the street. Though since he's hurt does that require them moving him to IR then giving him an IR injury settlement which then does not allow the Bills to re-sign him?
