Wildcard Playoffs SATURDAY: Raiders at Bengals, 4:30 on NBC
Brand J replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Burrow was far more deserving of the pro bowl than his divisional counterpart Jackson. -
Bills PR Dept does it again. 🖤 Fight On.

What has been Allen’s biggest come from behind victory? I’m blanking here… -
There’s no downside to this. People just like to complain.

Trent Dilfer Brett Favre who most reminds him of himself
Brand J replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall
That Bucs play where he ran for the first by the goal line had me worried. Was a pretty violent collision, but Josh popped right up. I agree though, the law of averages says he’s got a troubling hit on the horizon because of his playing style *knock on wood* Don’t know how you change that. I do see he doesn’t throw his body around when blocking for runners anymore. -
I think Addison is a slightly above average DE who’s better against the pass than the run. The reason the Bills defense excels is not because any one player is a superstar (as evidenced by the lack of pro bowlers), but because all eleven are at least “solid.” Yes, even Edmunds. But imagine if we had someone in the front 7 who was feared? A Watt, or a Bosa, or Parsons. Oliver and Milano are the closest we’ve got, but a feared player would elevate this defense to an even higher level and I do believe you’d see less ho hum performances against the better offenses. With that said, the truth of the matter is there just aren’t any more dominating defenses in this passing game era. The Bills are #1, but would probably be middle of the pack if you were to transport this unit back to the 90s, or even early 2000s. Just have the expectation that it’s not on the defense for the Bills to win their first Super Bowl. It’s all on the Allen-led offense. If Allen climbs out of this rut he’s been in the past couple games and plays lights out in the postseason, I like our chances against any team.

Don’t let him get too many 😄 That’s how they get rolling. -

I posted in another thread, but these are the numbers for the Patriots RB Harris the three times the Bills defense has faced him: 11/01/20 16/102 TD 12/06/21 10/111 TD 12/26/21 18/103 3TD TOTALS: 44/316 (7.18 YPC) 5TD Time for redemption -
His two best games this season have been against the Texans and Jets. It’s predictable that when he makes a couple plays against these lower teams, people come out of the woodwork extolling his greatness. I’m not an Edmunds hater, but I do believe we could get better production in the middle. A good game against the Jets today doesn’t change that belief. I want to see Edmunds make an impact against higher tier competition and he’ll have his chance in the playoffs.

The Bills absolutely have to figure out a way to slow down Harris, the Pats RB. The defense has faced him three times, these are his numbers: 11/01/20 16/102 TD 12/06/21 10/111 TD 12/26/21 18/103 3TD TOTALS: 44/316 (7.18 YPC) 5TD It ain’t pretty, I’m sure he loves playing the Bills

Interesting way to describe Josh Allen - High floor - High Ceiling
Brand J replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Burrow is arguably the most accurate QB in the NFL right now and that’s huge praise, I know. -

It’s not only due to the line, or the weather. JA is not absolved of blame and he’d tell you himself there are a number of games this year where he could’ve played better. -

Allen’s highs are being *expected* now due to his talent and arm ability, while his lows - like the game against the Jaguars - leaves people scratching their heads. The inconsistencies (or rollercoaster as some have labeled it) is why he’s not always getting the respect he deserves. The failure to win close games this season is another. As great as he is, there’s still plenty of room for Josh to elevate his play and that mostly comes down to raising his floor level performances. -
Seattle tried to trade Russell Wilson and draft Josh Allen in 2018?
Brand J replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, I remember. But again, the question is why did they bid against themselves? No other team was giving up more than a single 1st and a 2nd. If I remember correctly the Cardinals second round pick was even after the Bills. Bills could’ve told the Bucs “you get our first and the first of our 2nd round picks, take it or leave it” and started talking to the Bears. Bucs option would then be to select Vita Vea, or take a much lesser offer from the Cardinals, which wouldn’t make sense. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter much because they hit on a QB who has HoF potential, but why give up more than you have to if no other team is willing to beat a more reasonable offer? -

Always wondered why we outbid ourselves and gave up TWO second round picks to move up 5 spots when Arizona was on record saying they wouldn’t give up more than one 2nd and was trying to trade their first and a 3rd. Maybe a third team was in the mix, not that much of it matters now. -
Yeah that 2000 Ravens D was being compared to the 85 Bears, the Steel Curtain, the Purple People Eaters. It was an extremely suffocating defense and a team I’d put among the best I’ve seen since I started watching football. I’m sure there were others that were better, but they were before my time.

1) 2007 Patriots* 2) 2000 Ravens 3) 1998 Broncos 4) 1998 Vikings* 5) 2006 Colts Started watching the NFL religiously in 1996 and two of the best teams I’ve seen didn’t win it all.

So basically root for the Chiefs and Bengals to win so we can lock up the 4 and play TN rather than KC - after we win the first playoff game.

Of these three teams, which one do you hope to play on WC weekend?
Brand J replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just came back from the Colts board. Their fans don’t want to play the Chiefs. Every other AFC team they feel they can beat and have absolutely no fear of the Bills - not that I blame them. In fact, they’re more worried about a Patriots rematch than Buffalo. -
“Commanders” wasn’t one of the many names trademarked by that Macauly guy? That’s surprising.

Has anyone dug in to see how the fans of those teams feel? Who do they want/not want to play? -
It’s fun to have a QB where this “debate” can exist. Too many years it’s been “is Brian Brohm the answer? Can Tyrod Taylor be our version of Tom Brady? Is Fitzy a journeyman who has finally figured out how to play at a high level?” Those were the days.
-
Cant believe some of you are debating which Allen has been better, last year’s version, or this year’s. No question last year he had the greatest season of any Bills QB ever and made the wow throws and clutch plays to back that up. This year he has the jaw dropping throws as well (of course), but it doesn’t feel like as many. He also hasn’t come through in the clutch in any of those one score games. Not entirely on him, but they’re still 0-5 in one score games and in every one the Allen led offense had the chance to take the lead. Last year was elite, this year is excellent - not the other way around.
-
Patriots beat that same team 25-0. In Atlanta. This was a win against a lesser team, nothing more.
-
Maybe Daboll told him “bombs away” so he’d look great for his head coaching opportunities. How else do you explain all the cutesy play calls when simple would’ve been more effective? Of course I’m only have kidding, but it didn’t seem like the Bills had respect for their opponent today, they just thought they’d throw all over them and call whatever they wanted. Should’ve learned after game 1 of the season, we’re not that team. Yet.
