  1. What is up with this place? More and more i've been noticing that members of this board are just ridiculously mean to other members. Just because someone has an opinion you don't agree with or might be living in a "fantasy world" doesn't mean that you have to be a jerk to them. This board is far and away the worst Bills board i've seen when it comes to e-Bullying. That's unfortunate as it's one of the bigger Bills sites and fans of other teams often stop by here to see what we're or this team is like. I understand as fans we are bitter when it comes to this team and the product. But there's absolutely no reason for some of the attitudes of this board. I'm sure even this post will merit some jackass having to shoot off at the mouth at me. I'm not trying to sound like a hippy or anything, I just think some people need to chill a little. You can agree to disagree without having to fight. This board is supposed to be fun and sometimes it's just degrading. Let's all make an effort to be a little more understanding.
  2. With any luck Jauron will resign after this conference
  3. I'm worried that Jauron is going to come in here and think that because Chris Villarial was good under him in Chicago, that he has to stay. Or that Mike Gandy is a lock at LT for the same reason. I thought Gandy wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either. I'd like to see an upgrade at that position. And are we going to see a million passes to Daimon Shelton again? After all, he's another Jauron boy. It would make me sick if Dick Jauron thinks that he can make some of these guys work again! Then I started thinking about J.P. Losman. Dick Jauron has spent the past two seasons in Detroit. He's watched as Joey Harrington destroyed Steve Mariucci and the team. They stuck with him for what they realized was too long. Do you think that Jauron is worried about the same thing happening to him with J.P.? It was reported that one of the sticking points with Sherman and Marv was Losman. If it was a sticking point, you have to assume that Sherman wanted him to start with his well documented love affair with him. This leads me to believe that the other party (Marv) must've not been to keen on that. In the end, Sherman wasn't hired. I wish I knew which direction this team was headed
  4. I am pissed that it's not Mike Sherman. But there is a few different ways of looking at it: 1.) It's not Mike Mularkey! : We all wanted a new HC and anyone is better than having the Steelers connection around. 2.) We have the potential of having coordinators with HC experience : With Sherman, we probably would have gotten Bates and someone else he brought from Green Bay. But with Jauron, we may grab Capers or Hasslett on the D side. 3.) Dick Jauron has HC experience 4.) He won HC of the Year in 2001 5.) NO MORE GADGET PLAYS! : I was going to shoot someone if I saw Roscoe Parrish or Eric Moulds line up under center ever again. Jauron seems to be well respected around the league and brings a normal, old school approach to Buffalo. Marv is comfortable with him and I guess that helps (?). Again, I wish it was Sherman; but it could be a lot worse. Let's give the guy a shot and I look forward to knowing who our new coordinators are. No use crying over spilled milk.
  5. The 4th pick overall? It would take a whole helluva lot. McGahee, Clements, a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 1st next year might be enough. But it's just not worth it. While McGahee and Clements are quality players, you have to realize that not only would you have to convince them that the trade is worth it; but to pick up their contracts as well. And Priest? He's one injury away from a wheelchair. He should simply retire.
  6. I'm all for them switching back to throwbacks ala the New York Jets. But Ralph might be slow to do that. It would tick off a lot of casual fans who spent tons on the new jerseys in 2002-2005. Plus, they'd lose a lot of money on the one's that are in stores.
  7. The Senior Bowl is far and away the most anticipated college "All Star" game. All the NFL teams are represented by coaches and GM's. It include's sort of a mini-combine where teams can see them workout and you can pick their brains a little. Each college team is even coached by an NFL HC. Philip Rivers went from a projected mid-2nd rounder to the 4th overall pick based on his performance at the Senior Bowl. J.P. Losman probably wouldn't have been picked by Buffalo where he was without the Senior Bowl. It's as big as you can get.
  8. ..... and that's not neccessarily a bad thing. But it completely contradicts their act "swiftly" statement. Yesterday it looked like it was between Sherman and Jauron and that we'd probably have a coach today (after the Lofton interview). Then came the curveball, Dom Capers. While Dom has a horrible record, I don't think it's all his fault. There's not much one could do with that Texans team. I, like most other Bills fans; wanted Sherman. But the fact that they're bringing in Capers worries me. It makes me think that if they wanted Sherman, we wouldn't be looking at Capers. Now reports are coming out that we will be interviewing former Jets DC Donnie Henderson and Indy Asst. HC Jim Caldwell in the coming days. There has also been some more Haslett talk as well. I feel that we must have a HC announced by Thursday of next week so that we have a guy under our banner for the trip to Mobile and the Senior Bowl. It would have been nice to have a HC for the East/West Shrine Game and the Hula Bowl this weekend, but that's not near as important as the Senior Bowl trip. We can afford to take our time with only Oakland still searching. So bring in Henderson and Caldwell. And while Marv's at it, he should bring in Haslett, Fassell, Martz, Mike Singeltary, Art Shell, or anyone else that he can think of. In the end, I hope they come back and say that Sherman was the best. But I feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable with Marv making the decision then TD.
  9. I think people are being a little harsh on Buffalo's secondary. They got picked on a LOT. Mostly because we had ZERO pass rush most of the time. With no rush, a QB has all day to pick his spots. And with the way we couldn't stop the run, we had to send Lawyer and/or other DB's to rush the QB and stop the RB constantly. I don't think all these "get rid of these bum's" comments are fair. I can think of a lot of plays where Troy Vincent was all over the place. I think (keyword THINK) he may have even led the team in picks this year as well. Lawyer Milloy was a dominant force in 2003 and 2004 (save when he broke his wrist). The loss of Takeo Spikes and Pat Williams devestated this defense. It brought us from first to worst figuratively speaking. Combine all these factors with TERRIBLE coaching and you're going to have problems. Not to mention the fact that our D was almost always on the field because our offense couldn't get it going most of the time. You'd be surprised how good a "D" can be when the offense is rolling. I'm confident going into next season with Lawyer Milloy and Troy Vincent at the Safety positions. I feel that once we put Takeo back into the mix, pick up 1-2 big DT's via FA and the Draft, and get some solid coaches in here; things will pick up again and our DB's will have the chance to be dominant again.
  10. The problem with that is why would Dick Jauron leave Detroit as their DC to come to Buffalo for the same position? And why would Detroit just let him go?
  11. I wanted him anyway. But if your "smart friend" say's he's good then by gawd "Git r' done Marv!".
  12. I'm not saying "the hell with J.P., let's get Omar!". I think we should cover our ass is all i'm saying. As a 2nd, he doesn't have the stigma of being a 1st; therfore needs to be started. J.P. has shown that he can be good or very bad. No one knows for sure what we have in him. After this season if J.P. isn't the answer, we're back to square one. Why not get a head-start and train someone who could be a great backup or trade bait at the very least? I addressed both lines on my "Day 1" mock. More OL/DL would be taken on Day 2 and we'd take some vets in FA.
  13. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...8p-323974c.html I don't see why it's SO outlandish to believe that the Giants would give up the 25th pick overall for Nate Clements. It's not like we're asking for the 8th pick overall like some rumors were suggesting last year (the Clements draft day to Washington rumor). And for the love of god, please don't bring up the whole "Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James couldn't get a 2nd" argument! If arguably the top corner available won't warrant a low-1st, what will? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2277901 Defensive tackle Grady Jackson, one of several Packers veterans who will become free agents, expressed support for Sherman. "Mike was a great guy and I know he'll be coaching somewhere else," Jackson said. "Wherever he goes, I won't mind playing for Mike Sherman. He's just that great of a guy." I love know-it-all's. You're right about that. I forgot all about that rule. Well, you've all given me things to think about. I'll be back in a little bit with an edited post. I look forward to TSW's most infamous of dickish comments along the way.
  14. Well, they still have to interview a minority candidate per the NFL's "Rooney Rule". So expect an interview with Ted Cotrell (whom I would interview regardless). Interestingly enough, the D&C reports that they may also interview Art Shell.
  15. Round 1: Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon Round 1 (from New York Giants): Max-Jean Gilles, OG Georgia Round 2: Omar Jacobs, QB Bowling Green Round 3 (from Tennessee): Dominique Byrd, TE USC Round 3: Devin Hester, CB/WR/KR Miami OR Round 1: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT Virginia Round 1 (from New York Giants): Gabe Watson, DT Michigan Round 2: Omar Jacobs, QB Bowling Green Round 3 (from Tennessee): Dominique Byrd, TE USC Round 3: Devin Hester, CB/WR/KR Miami With the Giants publicly acknowledging their love for Nate Clements, it makes PERFECT sense that we trade him to them. They have a late-1st (25) and there's no one they want more. For the most part, I think it all depends on which way the Jets go. If they don't want to draft DeAngelo Williams (or a RB at 4), then they'll take the Brick. Otherwise, he may fall. I made it appearant (sp?) in the past that I did not want Ngata. But given some time, i've reconsidered. If Ferguson and Mario Williams are off the board like most suspect they will be, he does make the most sense. Omar Jacobs is a pick that I think would be huge. Most mocks i've seen have him going at mid-2nd. With the uncertainty surrounding J.P. Losman, Omar would be a great insurance policy. The Bills won't take a QB in Round 1. But a project in Round 2 won't jeopardize Losman. People won't scream for Omar Jacobs if J.P. is having problems. If it's decided that J.P. isn't the guy after all, we'll have had a jump on his replacement. And if he is? Well, then you have a solid career backup or viable trade bait. EDIT: I originally had a piece on Anthony Fassano to Buffalo in Round 3. I figured it would be a little bit of a reach. So I moved to Dominique Byrd instead. Devin Hester is a project that I REALLY believe in. Most people flame me for him being on my mocks, but he's someone who could really be something. I feel that the Bills will sign a veteran FA to go with McGee, so Hester could develop and MAYBE push Eric King at the nickel position as a rookie. But he's one of those explosive playmakers that don't come around too often. He regressed a little this year and came out too early. That's why he'll be there in the 3rd. PLUS he can play both sides of the ball. Given time, he'll be special. Mike Sherman SHOULD coach this team. With Payton and Mangini off the board and Hasslett reportedly as well, there is no better candidate. Sherman was the man who was in love with Losman. So much so that he had him hang out with Brett Favre and look into property in Green Bay. It was no secret. People were shocked when we jumped in front of them and took him. Sherman will make sure that Losman is coached well and will start him. I think he had a good coaching plan set for him all along. Mularkey on the other hand dropped the ball. Sherman is a proven winning head coach that has connections in the league. With him here, we could win again. He'd also help bring Grady Jackson in. Which brings me too: FA Signings: LeCharles Bentley, C New Orleans Antonio Bryant, WR Cleveland Will Allen, CB New York Giants Grady Jackson, DT Green Bay Bentley will break the bank and be well worth it. Antonio Bryant won't cost so much. Grady Jackson has gone on record saying that he wants to be like Sam Adams and Pat Williams. He's the exact DT we need in here. With Adams most likely leaving, we would need another DT alongside Ngata or Watson. Jackson and Ngata would be a SCARY combo. Gone: Sam Adams Eric Moulds Trey Teague Nate Clements Chris Villarial Bennie Anderson Mark Campbell Josh Reed Jeff Posey And that's how we'll sign those 4 guys above. We reportedly have a massive amount of money available already. Releasing those guys will free up a lot more. Mike Williams should stay though. The Bills will have to release him and then resign him for SUBSTANTIALLY less. But he seems game. He was injury prone last season, yes. But I think he can be made into a great OG if he is given the offseason and training camp to work on it. I don't think Marv gives up on him. By the way, here's what our OL would look like after my revamps: Mike Gandy Mike Williams LeCharles Bentley Max-Jean Gilles Jason Peters OR D'Brickashaw Ferguson Mike Gandy (He was an OG before Buffalo switched him back to OT) LeCharles Bentley Mike Williams Jason Peters So there!
  16. http://www.wgrztv2.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=34569 I'm sure the guy below me will want some "You were right" backups.
  17. I was just watching "Cold Pizza" and in the "Cover Two" segment they had a piece on the Bills. They said that Ralph was furious at Marv for not denying that he was a candidate for the HC job. They went on to say that the leading candidates are Jim Hasslett and Sean Payton. What would you guys think of Payton? I think he would be a good selection. He's spent the last couple seasons under the tutilege (sp?) of Parcells and usually gets praised for being an awesome assistant and QB guru.
  18. By "after next season", I meant after 2007. Sorry, as far as i'm concerned; this season is 2006. Last season ended when we lost to the Jets. Confusion is my middle name.
  19. He doesn't have character issues like Marcus Vick or anything. He just doesn't have any real passion for the game. He is a great talent, but he doesn't really care. All one has to do is listen to him talk to figure that out. It doesn't matter what's going on to him. If we're winning or losing, as long as he gets his carries; he doesn't care. He said it himself. And that's exactly the type of thing Marv is talking about when he came in. We don't have any criminals or murderers. We have a lot of people who are just in it for the money. And it's not like i'm the only one who's saying this. Look, i'm a Willis McGahee fan. Hell, i'm wearing his jersey as we speak. I don't want to see the guy go and when I talk about getting another RB, i'm not looking for his replacement. Quite frankly, we're pretty slim at RB. And you can't say that he was dominant this season. Do you really want to go into next year with Shuad Williams running all the time again? The fact is, his contract is up after next season and I seriously question whether or not he wants to be here.
  20. I have a sinking feeling that Gabe will be there in the 3rd. He's expected to go after Ngata, Bunkley, Wroten, Wright, and mabe even Mahelona. He regressed a little this year, but you're right; he's the type of DT we need. With the exception of Ngata (whom I think is overrated), he's the only DT I see fitting the mold. On a side note, I think Marv will keep Sam and hunt Grady Jackson. It may not be a complete neccessity to pick a DT in the 1st (or 2nd for that matter) like everyone thinks. But we will take one on the first day. Omar Jacobs will be taken in the 2nd, maybe even the 1st if his combine is good enough. If he's available in the 3rd, he won't be by our first 3rd (from Tennessee). I think if he's there, we should take him. As for Hester, maybe you're right. He did regress. But I just think he's a playmaker ala Terrence McGee that could really develop into something nicely.
  21. There's various ideas as to when he'll go floating around. I've read a couple of them that have him going in the 2nd (one had him in the 1st). But for the most part, he's projected as a 3rd-4th round pick. Especially with the flood gates opening up when it comes to Junior CB's. He's the top returner in the country and he's just starting to pick up steam everywhere else. Most people (including myself) think it was a mistake for him to come out. He doesn't have any character concerns by the way. Not everybody from Miami is a Sean Taylor. And yes, he declared his eligibility weeks ago.
  22. This is a REAL deep RB class. We may be able to get him in the 2nd. I list it like this: Reggie Bush DeAngelo Williams Lendale White Laurence Maroney Michael Bush (if he comes out, decision later today) Brian Callhoun Joseph Addai (sp?) Maurice Drew
  23. I don't know if i'd package the 3rd's, but I wouldn't have a problem with a 3rd and a 4th (or a 5th) to take Callhoun. He's a GOOD back and would compliment McGahee well. Given some time to develop, he could be a stellar replacement.
