So our starting CB opposite Benford will be a competition between basically a 5th Round Pick and Dane Jackson? I hope you're not coming for Beane's job...

Has Cook talked himself OFF the Bills for 2025
BillsFanForever19 replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know that it will even come to that. It represents the worst case scenario to me. He's going to have a hard time getting 15m from another team if it isn't us. And missing any significant time is going to make that even harder. As for it "won't fly" - that always cracks me up when I hear people say that. How do you know how they'd handle that? Just because you wouldn't want it to "fly" doesn't mean it wont. If the return isn't worth a trade (and it won't be) and the option then is to deal with it and/or sit him when he comes back - why would they do that and cut off their nose to spite their face? -
Douglas was horrendous last season. Like @BearNorth just said, he allowed a 123.7 passer rating last season. And now he's a year older at 31 to start the season. It's possible he even takes a step back from that. Your idea to load up on DL and neglect CB with Day 3 Pick(s) and/or Douglas is flawed logic. Lineman won't have the time to get to the QB because they'll just get the ball out quickly to whomever is opposite Benford, or beyond that with our average (or worse if Bishop can't take a step up) Safeties.

You want a monster run stuffing DT? I got you a monster DT
BillsFanForever19 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love when people see size and think that's going to make them great. Reminds me of when we brought Michael Jasper to camp. He's a UDFA level prospect. Maybe he'll get taken very late on Day 3. His size doesn't make him a great player. -
Bills had the best free agent class according to ESPN
BillsFanForever19 replied to BILLS55's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. I think it was a combination of misevaluating Elam and also entering the Draft with CB being the only real need. I guess if there's a silver lining to the situation we're in this year, it's that we have so many things that need to be addressed (especially after the suspensions to Hoecht and Ogunjobi) that it's unlikely we'll be in a scenario where need and value won't match up at any of the spots when we pick first. -
Has Cook talked himself OFF the Bills for 2025
BillsFanForever19 replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
No one is offering us a 2nd Round Pick, even with a 4th next year, for Cook. There's far too many things working against a Cook trade to get anything worth moving him. The RB position always get terrible returns on trades. Players in the last year of their contract always get less in return. Players who are publicly angling for top market dollar for their worth get less in return. And on top of all of that, it's a strong RB class in the Draft. In the end, whatever we'd get for him is worth less than having him playing for us in the Playoffs this year. Especially if he performs for us like he did this past season in the playoffs. I'm sure he'll hold out offseason workouts. Maybe Training Camp. But I don't see him missing any significant playing time. Even if he were to miss a couple games, the return won't be worth not having him when it matters. -
Combine that with RB's having a low trade value to begin with, guys in the last year of their deal having lower trade values, and his angling for top market dollar - yeah, Cook's trade value is much lower than most people who say "trade him" seem to understand. I agree. For what we'd get in return, we're not going to trade him. It's worth more for us to have him for this year. So we'll deal with whatever hold out he does. Probably OTA's maybe some of Training Camp. But I doubt he'll sit out any of the year. Even if he were to sit out a game or two, still more important to have him for the season than the peanuts we'd get moving him.

Yeah, I agree. I believe neither the Bills nor these players were looking for a reunion initially. But if there isn't much of a market interest for them as players and/or their price (and i'd assume that's the case right now) and if the board doesn't fall right at WR or CB - I could see it being revisited by both sides. That said, i'm more open to Cooper than I am Douglas. I think it's fair to assume that his wrist injury (that at least one doctor said needed surgery) compounded with trying to fit him in halfway through the year led to them using him sparingly. Perhaps with a full offseason and healthy, he could provide a little more. Douglas, however, was truly awful last season. At 31 years old (at the start of the season) - it's quite possible to me he hit the wall. If we did bring him back, i'd make him earn his spot back against Jackson and whomever we Drafted on Day 3 and not guarantee anything.
-
We lost two Outside WR's (Cooper and Hollins) and gained one (Palmer). It's fair to argue that we shouldn't bring back Cooper. But the idea that there is no need for him doesn't add up. We do need to replace an Outside WR and that's what Cooper is. I assume the replacement will come in the Draft rather than Cooper or another FA. But we do have a hole for Cooper's (or Hollins' depending on how they view Palmer) replacement on the roster.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
BillsFanForever19 replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
I understand the Chiefs are your team. But it's okay to admit someone on your favorite team did something wrong and that they're still going to be a member of your favorite team that you'll be cheering for. It seems like whether it's Rashee Rice or now Xavier Worthy, you jump to their defense and blame others. No charges pressed means no wrong doing is flawed logic. Von Miller didn't get charged either. But I wasn't hopping to his defense. Big pockets means victims don't press charges. It was the case with Von and more likely than not, the case with Worthy. Still on Sundays, if Von was on the field I was hoping for a Sack, while accepting he's probably not a great guy. Is it a denial thing? Like you can't root for your team in good conscience unless you think they did nothing wrong? It is okay to admit that they aren't all choir boys and still be a fan of the team. -
3 years, 69m for a WR who will turn 32 and is coming off an ACL tear is INSANE. I don't think he wanted to go there. So they had to make an offer that he couldn't refuse to make it happen. Still crazy.

Russell Wilson to the Giants
BillsFanForever19 replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall
Aaron Rodgers preferred destination is the Vikings. They've yet to name JJ McCarthy their starting QB and have yet to close the door on Rodgers. If Rodgers ends up with the Vikings like he wishes, the Steelers are nowhere. Possible Rodgers ends up with the Steelers and the Vikings just roll with McCarthy. But with the team they have in place and what they were able to do last year with Darnold, they may not want to roll the dice on a Rookie who didn't play a down last season with nothing but Brett Rypein behind him. -

They signed Jameis Winston too. That's kind of surprising. I have to imagine they didn't let Jameis know as prevailing thought was he'd be the consolation prize for the team that didn't get Rodgers or Wilson. Atlanta must be thrilled. The situation definitely makes someone meeting their price for Cousins more likely. -
Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
BillsFanForever19 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
I sincerely hope the plan is not to roll into next season with our WR core being Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Tyrell Shavers. I remember watching Joe Marino's Mock Offseason before FA started and he had us signing Joshua Palmer before it went down and Drafting a WR with one of our 2nd Round Picks. I commented saying I'd hope for a little more than that. If we don't at least do that, it would be an injustice to Josh. It's one thing to *hope* for improvements in Year 2 and 3 of Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid, after publicly calling them out. And for Curtis Samuel to be more this year than last year. It's another to *rely* on it, with the only (perhaps) slight improvement to the core being replacing Mack Hollins with Joshua Palmer. This scenario feels like what we went into the season with last year before realizing it wasn't enough and making a move for Cooper. -
Maybe the yardage threshold of 660 yards, though he's only done it once in his four year career. But 7 TD's? He's only had 10 for his entire career and his career high is 4. It's possible he can become more with Josh. But his career to date hasn't shown that it's "easily attainable". And it's not like he comes from a bad Quarterback situation.

He was paralyzed in a Motorcycle Accident in 2007. Tough life. I was a kid getting Autographs in Fredonia when we Drafted him. He was a really nice guy. Sad. -

Yeah, I definitely own that. I can't tell serious from joking via text worth a f-ck lol Ah, gotcha. That's fair.

The Eagles went 18-3 last season. After starting the season 2-2, they went 16-1 over their last 17 games. And that 1 loss was by 3 points to the team they would go on to dismantle 55-23 in the NFC Championship game. They definitely played the game of their lives in the Super Bowl. But I don't think the Chiefs beat them 9 times out of 10. Not with the team that they built.

BillsFanForever19 replied to Vickveto's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't disagree. I've been saying in every post that Beane didn't do nearly enough in the market to replace the players we lost or needed to uprgrade from and that because of it, we're relying on the Draft way more than I expected or wanted to. That said, it doesn't change the fact that that's the exact position he has put the team in. -
This is like saying the Bills suck because we barely beat the Jets by 3 and lost badly to the Texans. Or that we're clearly better than the Chiefs because we can always beat them in the Regular season. When it mattered, there was nothing "suck" about the Eagles. They came together at the end of the season and especially in the Super Bowl were downright unstoppable. We face that team with the roster we have and we're gonna get smoked. Top to bottom that roster was probably the most stacked in the entire league.
-
Benford hasn't been extended yet. Probably bc he and his agent have looked at the market and have a price set that is top of the market. If you look at the kind of deals Beane does, they're often team friendly deals that are either in the moment a good price for us and especially after a year - looks like an underpay. The types of players who are willing to take that get done quick. The types of players that are looking for top market dollar either take time or don't get done. As for who it will be opposite Benford, you're right. It really isn't on the roster right now. And the options that are floating out there right now are a couple guys I don't see as fits and/or are more than we can afford. So you're likely looking at a scenario where we Draft a CB high and hope he can step in and play at a high level immediately, with Dane Jackson being a low level starter insurance policy if they can't. Chidobe Awuzie is the one guy I look at on the market right now that I would be looking into if I were Beane. I think he represents a higher floor than Jackson provides us and wouldn't break the bank like a Samuel would.

No offense to you, but i'm really tired of hearing this argument. If not for multiple self induced mistakes by the Ravens and completely relying on James Cook, we wouldn't have made it to the Chiefs. You say that we were 3 points away from the Super Bowl. I say that we didn't have enough offensive firepower to beat them. If not for James Cook playing like a psychopath in the 2nd half and Mack Hollins (who isn't here anymore) playing the best game of his life - we wouldn't have even been in the position to have Dalton Kincaid fail us when the game was on the line. And if we had pulled it off? We would have been DECIMATED by the Eagles, just like the healthier Chiefs who had a better built roster than we did. We had no business doing what we did last season with the roster we had. It's the #1 reason why Josh Allen won the MVP. It wasn't because he was so clearly better than Lamar. It's because he did what he did with a roster that was perceived as severely lacking compared to the kind of help Lamar had. The Eagles supremely built roster playing their best ball would have been no match for us. And we shouldn't rely on Josh Allen to play at that kind of MVP level to overcome the inadequacies of our roster every year. And as we've seen multiple times, even with that kind of superhero play from your QB, that only gets you to knocking on the door of a Super Bowl appearance. If you want to get in and win, you need to get him help. On both sides of the ball. We needed to greatly improve this roster to not only overcome the Chiefs, but to be able to stand toe to toe with the Eagles. Because the goal isn't overcoming the Chiefs. The goal is to hoist a Lombardi. And as things stand, we still have a ways to go to get back to even the kind of roster we had last season. Outside of Joey Bosa (who's a risky pickup given his injury history) replacing Von Miller and Joshua Palmer (who's a 570 yard average WR to date) replacing Mack Hollins - we have nothing to show in terms of improvement for Week 1. And we have spots like DT and CB that have even taken a step back, or more. Even WR, we're maybe *slightly* better than we were when we had to make a move midseason for Cooper (who's spot we also have yet to replace) bc it wasn't enough.
