  1. There's 3 teams needing QB's and 2 QB's worth taking high after the first 3 QB picks are gone. So there's heavy competition that will be paying substantially and driving up prices to get into the area we'd need to take Harrison. And then there's the issue of convincing Arizona (or LA for that matter) to hand us an all time talent level prospect at a position of need for them. As well as the fact that Arizona knows that we've consistently been picking late in Round 1, so they have to assume that next year's first will be a late one. There's also a big difference between Cleveland moving from 6 to 21 (15 picks) in the Julio Trade or us moving from 10 to 27 in the Mahomes trade (17 picks) and Arizona moving from 4 to 28 (24 picks). Simply meeting the Trade Chart Value isn't going to cut it. Discounts aren't going to happen. It would have to be an overpay and probably a substantial overpay to get them to consider it.
  2. 28, 60, our 1st and 2nd next year is not near enough.
  3. I mean, is he a Superstar? No. Bottom of the roster though? He started all 17 games for the Chargers last season, all 17 games for the Giants in 2021, and started every single game he's played over the past 3 seasons. Starters are the very opposite of "bottom of the roster guys".
  4. Classic Spikes post. "Love the signing! .... wait, that covers a spot that would be designated for someone I'm drooling over? We'll why can't we just have them BOTH?!"
  5. My mama said That your life is a gift And my mama said There's much weight you will lift And my mama said Leave those bad boys alone And my mama said Be home before the dawn And my mama said You can be rich or poor But my mama said You can be big or small But I'm always on the run (always on the run) But I'm always on the run
  6. You'd suspect wrong. At 317, he's a 3T like Curtis Samuel is an Outside WR. You can put him there from time to time, but 1T is his natural spot. Watch any discussion of him and his fit here by places like Cover 1 and he's always discussed as primarily rotation for Daquan. Does he have some versatility? Yes. But he's not going to be primarily a 3T behind Oliver.
  7. Yeah and I'd expect us to take one later as insurance. But when you have a number of positions where you need players that will start, compete to start, or be used often in rotation and you pick 28 and 60 and then don't pick again until 128 - you can't afford to use a premium pick on a BPA that's simply FA insurance for next year and depth. Like I said, unless you're pretty sure you're moving on from Brown, you're using a premium pick on someone who's ceiling is Swing Tackle if Dawkins and Brown are locked up long term. You use the first two Rounds for "gaping holes". Insurance, depth, and development is for the mid Rounds. Beane's done a good job filling holes but we're not at a point where we can just go BPA and ignore the holes left in Round 1 and Round 2, especially since we don't have another pick until the end of Round 4.
  8. Us going WR in Round 1 and 3T in Round 2 is my hope. But the idea that something like Murphy or Newton is out because we signed Johnson simply isn't true.
  9. I've seen people like Jeremy White celebrating the signing of Austin Johnson as meaning it makes WR in Round 1 more likely and DT less likely. While I'd like that to be true, it really doesn't do anything to change the situation. If anything Johnson removes the potential of something like Sweat in Round 2. Jones and Johnson are 1T's. Sweat is a 1T. With the signing of Johnson behind Jones, I don't see us taking a 3rd 1T in the first 2 Rounds when we still only have one 3T (and other holes). Byron Murphy and Johnny Newton are the two DT's that would be in consideration for us in Round 1. And their position? 3T - which is still a big hole for us. Maybe even bigger now as money is getting tighter and the options in FA are getting thin. I still have my fingers crossed WR is our first pick. But the idea that Johnson does anything to the potential of DT in Round 1 is incorrect.
  10. Johnson is a 1T. Sweat is a 1T. I don't see us going with a 3rd 1T as high as 60 when we have nothing behind Oliver at 3T.
  11. Agreed. I have no problem with a Trade Down or T'Vondre Sweat. It's practically everything else.
  12. I don't see that happening, unfortunately. It would have happened by now. They "corrected" Cincinnati fairly quickly and there's been nothing since. And you best believe Beane was on the phone immediately just like Cincinnati was. It seems that Edmunds being hurt for a couple games hurt us. Wild that even on another team, Edmunds still found a way to disappoint us.
  13. Yeah, it seems to me that we should either stay put at 28 or trade down 2-3 spots. Because Round 2 seems the best time for us to move up. As you said, 60 is kind of no man's land for our needs. If you can get up 10-15 picks in Round 2, you can probably still land a top ranked player at WR, DL, or S. 60 is dicey. 60, 128 (1 of our 2 4th's) and 144 (1 of our 3 5th's) can get you up to 48. And in this Draft scenario, that would land us Kris Jenkins or T'Vondre Sweat. Where we are at DT with just Oliver and Jones and nothing else, the landscape of what's left in FA at DT, and the heavy rotation we use at the position - we simply cannot afford to wait until the end of Round 4 to address that position.
  14. Yeah, but where are we if Brown re-signs? You've spent our 2nd in a year where we need help elsewhere on an Offensive Tackle that, long term, isn't going to see the field unless there's an injury because Dawkins and Brown are under contract. Unless you plan on moving on from Brown, you don't take an OT in Round 1 or Round 2. I don't agree with spending high picks on Free Agent Insurance a year ahead of time. If we lose Brown next year - you sign a Free Agent or Draft a player high to replace them next year. If you want to take an OT in Round 3 or later that you like as development and insurance, that's fine. But this season we need players that we know are going to see the field in the first 2 Rounds. Especially since we don't have another pick until the end of Round 4.
  15. A 3rd next year for a 27 year old top CB? 'the hell? Chiefs got fleeced. Pretty glad too. When I saw it, I assumed it would be for the Titans 2nd Rounder at 38. A package of 32 and 38 could have sent them soaring past us for Brian Thomas Jr.
  16. I've come around on Worthy. I'd be happy with that. Though I'd prefer a more Outside WR, his all time speed and the addition of Samuel has made me more open to it. The OT pick? That's a rough one. I get the value. I just don't think the brass is willing to give up on Spencer Brown after last year. Which to me, this pick would be. It's either that or you're Drafting a Swing Tackle in Round 2. There's too many needs right now to take a Swing Tackle that high. I understand you're playing the Draft as it falls game without moving and that the value for DT didn't fall right. But in reality, if we had stood pat in Round 1 and taken a WR - I don't see a way Beane doesn't make a move up to somewhere between 46 and 55 to make sure he lands one of Tyler Nubin, T'Vondre Sweat, Kris Jenkins, or Javon Bullard.
  17. Really don't like it tbh. I'm really down on Franklin after the Combine and watching stuff besides highlight reels. Sick or not, a lot of the problems that were highlighted at the Combine show up on film. While down field fast, it takes him a while to get there and doesn't come off the line fast. He's a long gainer that has trouble at the line. He also has a lot of tape of himself struggling against non-NFL level CB's. Johnny Wilson is basically a Tight End at the NFL level. Really tall but not very athletic. As Steve Smith put it, "the kid can't chew gum and tie his shoes at the same time". He's like a less athletic Kelvin Benjamin. I'd be very disappointed if we walked out of the Draft with not 1, but 2 WR's I'm down on with the massive amount of WR's available that I like. CB that high too, yick. I'm also not as high on Kinchens as I am on Tyler Nubin or Javon Bullard. I wouldn't hate it if we took him, as I would taking Franklin and Wilson and a CB that high. But I'd prefer Bullard at that point. Just, yeah, not a fan of that Draft.
  18. Outside of Murphy falling to us at 28 and Tez Walker lasting to 128 - in what scenario are you getting a 2nd and a 3rd from GB while maintaining our 1st and 2nd?
  19. Keon Coleman? Are you confusing him with someone else? Contested catch is his whole game. Pretty much needs to be as he doesn't create good separation.
  20. From a trade value standpoint, both our 4th's and one of our 5th's ABSOLUTELY could get us into the 3rd and well into it. It's just a matter of whether you can find someone willing to trade out of Round 3 for extra picks in 4 and possibly 5. 128 & 133 alone are enough for 99. 128, 133, and 144 can get you as high as 86. The Rams could be interested to move 99 for 128 & 133. 99 is their 2nd pick in the 3rd Round. After that pick, they don't pick again until Pick 154 in Round 5. The question is - would we rather have no 3rd's and 2 4th's or 1 3rd and no 4th's? And will we have 2 4th's by Round 3? Good chance we'll have already used one to move up some in Round 1 or Round 2. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp
  21. Even if you are correct in that assessment - I'm not sure how that equates to needing a Center when both the front office and McGovern himself feel he's better fit for Center. As I've said, as good as McGovern is at not letting blocks through and holding his ground - he's not good at pushing his man back in running situations. That's perfectly fine for Center, but not great for a Guard. If you think Edwards isn't enough, then you should be pushing for Guard help. Not Center. But Kromer is a big fan of Edwards. He started 24 games at Guard for him in LA when they were together in 2019 and 2020. He started 45 of the 53 games he played before coming here after being injured the year before - including also starting every game at Guard for the Rams and in the Super Bowl the year they won it. He's no inexperienced slouch.
  22. You may be right. But we'll worry about it then. For this year with Groot (who I'm pretty sure the regime sees as less than a concern than you), Von, Epenesa, and Toohill and with money coming in June to address it further if Beane sees it necessary - it'll have been properly addressed for this year. Save for something unlikely happening like Laiatu Latu falling into our laps, there isn't a DE worth taking at 28.
  23. Newton is just as good and some even have him as better than Murphy. Neither one of them should be available at 28. If one is, we'll have to consider it.
  24. Nah, that's not your car. You were the only passenger on a train that didn't and was never going to leave the station.
