  1. Cue Miami trading him to someone out of the division and Beane getting torched for not matching or beating the offer - while Miami was never going to trade him to us. In Division trades only happen for smaller players (like Codrington), when there's no other options, and/or the pick from a Division rival is perceived to be a top pick. None of that applies to this situation.
  2. I'd bet when it's all said and done, it will be something like a 3rd for Shaheed and a 6th. Bc of supply (not much) and demand (very high) for WR's - they can afford to ask for a Day 2 pick for a half year rental on Shaheed this year. I think when push comes to shove, them coming down would equate to the price staying the same, but they'd give a late Round pick in return.
  3. I think comparing Meyers v. Shavers to Charbonnet v. Davis is wildly inaccurate. Shavers is not an NFL WR. Period. He's a guy who looks pretty good against Practice Squad CB's and players who will end up on the street during the Pre-Season, yet completely useless as a pass catcher against actual competent NFL CB's. Meyers is a low to mid grade #1, high end #2 WR. With the stats and volume to show for it over the past 5 seasons. That's a *much* larger discrepancy than Charbonnet v. Davis.
  4. Would reading a 1% chance make you feel better? 0% may seem hyperbolic, but it's much closer to reality than what people dreaming wish it was. Even the initial report that got everyone clamoring simply said that teams have called the Jaguars, not that they were shopping him. And that it was "highly unlikely" they'd actually move him. After that report, the Jaguars GM flatly stated "BTJ will not be traded". Then Travis Hunter unfortunately got IR'ed yesterday. This new report from Diana Russini says really nothing new. Just that a lot of teams have called and that the thought from those teams is that it would require a 1st plus more for them to consider it. Even then, I'd doubt those "thoughts" were acquired to report on in the under 24 hours since Hunter was injured. Which surely changes things even more.
  5. I'm failing to see why you think it would have to be Shakir or Palmer that would have to be released. That's not even *remotely* the case. It would be one of Shavers or Moore. We have options to move money around with and why would we move on from one of our Top WR's instead of one of the bottom 3 guys? Meyers isn't mediocre compared to a Tyrell Shavers (who is one of 3 WR's to be active every game this season and has gone without a single catch in 5 of them), Elijah Moore (who's stat line for the year is 5 catches for 78 yards), and Curtis Samuel (who's been active for just 3 games and has a stat line of 3 catches for 35 yards and 1 TD). Meyers is coming off a 1000+ yard season and his lowest yardage output since 2021 is 804 yards. Meanwhile, the grand some total *combined* for HALF of our WR core over 7 games this season is 10 catches for 164 yards and 1 TD. And that's not even taking into account what we're getting out of Keon Coleman or Joshua Palmer's injury. How you can say that Meyers wouldn't be an upgrade over what we're getting there is mind bogglingly insane to me. I can understand wanting more than Meyers. But if the option is giving up a 4th Round Pick for him or staying the course, with what we have - it's again, absolutely insane to me to not make a move. You're greatly undervaluing Meyers and greatly overvaluing guys like Shavers and Moore.
  6. The thing the Raiders have to weigh is how likely they are to get that Comp Pick. They'd have to make a point to add less than they lose for them to actually get it. And with them having 114m in Cap Space and the roster being in the shape it is - that Comp Pick is far from a given. I feel like people being down on the idea of Meyers is rooted in wanting more than that. But every report reads the same way these days. Jakobi Meyers and Rashid Shaheed seem to be the only WR's that are known to be truly available. If the option is something like Meyers or nothing (and it's very likely that's the case) - would you prefer not adding anything at all and rolling with the same guys?
  7. This will be the second of three potential Phidarian Mathis call up's before the Playoffs. He was called up for the Patriots game before this. Not to say he hasn't shown anything in practice. I wouldn't know. But this is less about him earning it and more about him being the only real option. Jones isn't going to play. All we have on the active roster at DT is Deone Walker, Larry Ogunjobi, and Jordan Phillips. So we needed a body. We've exhausted all 3 of Zion Logue's call up's before the Playoffs, so he wasn't an option. It was either Mathis or a 7th Round Rookie we just signed on Tuesday and has only practiced 3 times with the team in Tommy Akingbesote.
  8. I love all the In Division trade ideas. Why would Miami trade him to us? In Division trades pretty much only occur for small time players, if they have limited options, and/or the rival they're trading with has the highest perceived pick. None of these things apply to us and big time players on the Dolphins or Jets like Garrett Wilson, Jaylen Waddle, or in this case Minkah Fitzpatrick. They'd have no shortage of options if they were available, that would both be outside the division they play in and perceived to have a better pick that they'd acquire. If we were to trade for a big time Safety, it wouldn't be Minkah Fitzpatrick. It would be Budda Baker.
  9. Really nothing new here. Olave and BTJ are unlikely to be traded. The team and Olave are working on an extension. BTJ even more so after Travis Hunter being IR'ed. I have to imagine the "feeling" that it would take a 1st plus to pry him loose has probably changed since yesterday's news on Hunter. If the Jags were in worse shape, I could see them maybe packing things up and selling. But not at 4-3. I guess it's good to have a reputable source saying what others have said, that we've been doing our diligence on someone like Olave. But I don't think this article changes anything. But it will surely reignite all the fans who ignore everything else but the name mentioned in the same breath in an article about trades. Still looking to me that our best shot that could actually be had is Rashid Shaheed. Though it seems my previous concern of supply and demand driving up his price was legitimate. A Day 2 pick for a half year rental is a steep price for him. But if they can get at least a short term extension, I'd do it if he's the best option available to us. Especially when the WR FA market is so poor next off-season.
  10. Welp. There goes Gabe Davis playing this Sunday.
  11. It doesn't matter. The Dolphins, if they weren't flat out telling teams no, would have no shortage of options that would be both not in the same division as them and perceived to have a higher pick than us. There's a 0% chance they'd trade him to us. But I'm surprised you glossed over the Titans blurb. Your Draft crush from last season might be on the table! https://www.si.com/nfl/titans/onsi/news/teams-making-trade-calls-tennessee-titans-tvondre-sweat
  12. The description of his channel straight out says it: "Here to examine and challenge pieces of sports and life... fun stories and a lot of bad data" Videos like the QB position is the most overrated in sports. The most important person to a football team is not the coach or QB, but the GM. And now a video that has you thinking we're a very good passing offense and ready to go to war as the contrarian. Moving on from all of this, I hope you're right. But the results in the field when we needed something besides the running game says otherwise.
  13. Uh... yeah. Was I supposed to post someone else's video when referencing that he posts strawman videos for clickbait? We'll have to agree to disagree on this. If you believe we have a very successful passing offense and watched the video of him calling Mahomes and the QB position as a whole overrated and think "this guy's cooking" - there's really nothing to talk about anymore.
  14. What on earth are you talking about? I *literally* posted a video example in the post you last replied to...
  15. Look at the posts above I was replying to. They were in reference to getting Jermaine Burton.
  16. Because you're using an infamous creator who is known for taking straw man stances as clickbait. And arguing specific aspects in team sports to either magnify or diminish others. Like in the video I sent, it's not that Mahomes is great, but Andy Reid. Or the Offensive Line. No - Mahomes is great and they are also great. This is no different. I don't have to watch it. The idea that bc Cook is the 2nd leading rusher in the league doesn't denote we have a great passing game "or Elite offense". This is a classic McKelvie idea for a "wtf is this?! I'll click on it" video. The YPA and Attempt metrics don't mean we're not doing well just bc we don't have to. We have the on field results based evidence that that's not the case. We couldn't even beat the friggin' Falcons when we needed to pass to win. We couldn't keep up with the Patriots when we needed to pass. This isn't "crying" about the passing game. This is looking at someone saying "our Offense is Elite" and "our passing game is actually pretty good" and disagreeing.
  17. You're right. I didn't. Bc I've seen videos from this guy before. He uses debatebro tactics and backwards logic to argue insane points like "Quarterback is the most overrated position in sports" and that Mahomes isn't that great too seem like the smartest man in the room: Which I assume you're falling for with comments like: You point to YPA's and Pass Attempts v. Run and ignore what is clear on the field and in other metrics. If our passing game was successful, then in games where we needed it and weren't as successful in running the ball as we've been in most games - we wouldn't have lost. All season, save for Week 1 when teams didn't know our formula and weren't aware of how woeful our WR's were at getting open, we've either ran wild with Cook or lost. Last week it was the same formula. And it worked against Carolina. But we will need to pass at a Championship level to beat Championship teams. And we haven't shown the ability to beat teams when the Running game isn't all we need or need the pass to stay in the game.
  18. More importantly: https://sports.yahoo.com/jermaine-burton-accused-assault-last-143929941.html There were other incidents that were said to have not gotten out. His overall attitude and loose cannon reputation is why he fell to Round 3.
  19. He wasn't going to be traded before this. The initial report was that teams were calling them about potential trades but that it was "highly unlikely" he'd be traded. How people got "omg he's available!" from that is beyond me. It's like this time of the year a name plus the word trade pops up in a blurb and that's all people see. There's a MAJOR difference between immature bonehead and physically violent bonehead...
  20. I can't help but laugh at the juxtaposition of the top two posts on this board being this one and "Are Beane and McDermott building a secretly elite offense?"
  21. You make it sound like we've just been running the ball and scoring at will on the ground against anyone and everyone. And that the passing game is what it is bc we simply don't have to do it and aren't doing anything but running. There's been multiple times we've had to do it. We had two straight weeks of losses, one against the lowly Falcons where we needed to pass to win and couldn't get the job done. This past week we ran into a .500 Panthers squad with Andy Dalton (with a broken thumb) at QB. We ran all over them and that's great. We didn't need to pass again. We were playing a poor team. It goes back to the same overall point. Our passing woes are not a result of simply not needing to pass. If that were the case, New England and Atlanta wouldn't have gone down the way it did. And we aren't going to play Carolina every week. The good teams (and even a bad team like Atlanta) are going to contain it and we need to be able to do more than that. I just don't see how you can look at the talent on the field from the pass catching room, the metrics of guys (not) getting open, and the metrics of (poor) separation, the results when our running game isn't unstoppable, and the simply point to some YPA metrics and think this is a "secretly elite offense". Very good Running offense, sure. But that alone doesn't make an "Elite" offense. Our passing game, more specifically our WR'a, keep it from that.
  22. The Chiefs are playing a tougher schedule though. The worst team they've lost to is the 4-3 Jaguars. Their other losses are to the 6-2 Eagles and the 5-3 Chargers in the 1st 2 Weeks. And they defeated the Lions. The only team we've played with a winning record is the Patriots.
  23. This is true. But if the teams we're playing are "dogwater", if we're a true contender, we shouldn't have lost 2 games. The teams we've beaten have a combined record of 10-29 and the teams we've lost to have a combined record of 9-6. We got taken to the woodshed by a 3-4 team that was down 2 of their top 3 WR's. Beating up on a .500 team that couldn't stop the run and were rolling out Andy Dalton at QB with a broken thumb hasn't instilled confidence in me. The problem for me is we've been to an AFC Championship and gone deep into the Playoffs. That's no longer good enough. It's Super Bowl or bust and this doesn't look like a Super Bowl team to me. I'd love to be wrong, but I just can't see it happening this year with the roster we have now.
  24. There are things we can do to move money around. But I agree that Shaheed fits what we need much better, both in terms of financials and what he brings and it's possible effects on the Offense. More and more everyday, it feels like Rashid Shaheed is the guy for us to me. Beane really f'ed us this off-season (and in years prior) when it comes to the Position. But we still have to make the best out of what's available to us now. Khalil Shakir, Rashid Shaheed, Josh Palmer, Gabe Davis, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel is likely the best that we can do. And i'd take it over what we have now.
  25. Corroborates what we've already known. Chris Olave is not available as they're banging out an extension - but Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks are. And the only other name that's likely to be had if the price is reached is Jakobi Meyers.
