Hunter has 61 catches for 585 yards over the last two years. His problems are on the field, not off.

The narrative that praise for coach Addae is backhanded insult to Coach Butler is a false conclusion. Butler did a great job with our backs. He helped Christian Benford apparently(among others). Butler was a finalist for the top job and didn’t get it, so he went to make his fortune elsewhere with a great resume intact. He hit the ceiling and moved on. Addae is a new coach so naturally McDermott is going to give him some kudos when things go well. That’s what you do in a successful organization, share the credit. The main difference is probably not the coach, but the player. Elam wasn’t healthy last year, which hurt his development. And he found the gift of desperation this year because he is a special athlete who has succeeded his entire career up to now. He has read all the stuff calling him a bust. That stings your pride butch!

“PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills signed veteran Kareem Jackson to a one-year deal Tuesday, as they continue to tweak their safety room to replace seven-year starters Jordan Poyerand Micah Hyde and adjust to injuries at the position. Jackson, 36, participated in the team's second padded practice after receiving a call from the Bills on Sunday night and arriving Monday, but did not take part in team drills on his first day. His signing comes after veteran Mike Edwardssuffered a hamstring injury. "Got the call and just the opportunity for me to get into camp, which is something that I wanted to do, and try to get in and try to compete with the guys and try to earn a spot," Jackson said. Coach Sean McDermott described Edwards as "week-to-week." Edwards' injury left Damar Hamlin and rookie Cole Bishop to compete for a starter role alongside likely starter Taylor Rapp, however, Bishop left Tuesday's practice early with an injury. Edwards also missed time in the spring with a shoulder injury. Broncos' Jackson feels singled out by NFL for hits. Jackson had a tumultuous 2023 season that included two suspensions (totaling six games), multiple fines ($89,670) and lost wages ($838,889 in salary) for repeated violations of unnecessary roughness rules. The suspensions came after Jackson, then with the Denver Broncos, was ejected from two games for hits on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave and then-Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs. He received four-game suspensions for both hits, but the punishment for the hit on Musgrave was reduced to two games after an appeal. The Broncos waived Jackson after he completed the second suspension, and he was claimed by the Houston Texans in December. "What I learned from last year, I learned that it's my responsibility to protect the offensive player. I still haven't quite figured out how I'm gonna do that, protect myself and do my job," Jackson said. "So, at the end of the day, I'm out here playing ball, I don't think about that stuff. That stuff was last year. At the end of the day, it's all about me going out and competing at a high level. So, whatever it takes to do that, I'm gonna do it, and I'll try my best to keep my money and to stay on the field." The 2010 No. 20 draft pick by the Texans has started 193 games. He has 22 interceptions, 954 tackles and 7 forced fumbles over 15 seasons.” It doesn’t hurt to have a veteran voice in there. Just two years ago he was talked about as having a strong season with Denver. He only played a third of 2023, perhaps he has something to prove. Jackson could have value in a limited role. Maybe he makes a big play in a big time moment, or he’s cut in August .

Dark Horse Candidates and Surprise Cuts
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to Rocky Landing's topic in The Stadium Wall
Surprise cut is La’el Collins, a 30-year-old offensive tackle, signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills in April. He is not moving well in camp according reports and getting reps at guard. Richard Gouraige And Alec Anderson will round out the tackles just fine. Will Clapp plays guard and center. Darkhorse will be Keni H Lovely, defense back with some swagger. They won’t need a worn out vet from some other team with Daequan Hardy and this kid. -
Brandon Aiyuk officially requests a trade
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
This guy is not worth the contract he seeks. -
The people making the decisions clearly don’t value the home play by by play in any real way. I suppose the marginalization of the audio cast by television has a lot to do with it. The audio doesn’t matter so much with the telecast. Most games are available for viewing, so who is listening—-truly? The price is right surely for CB. Pegs is always looking for value. I found the audio tough to listen to last year. Murph stayed on a year too long for sure. But here we are. One would think the voice of a team would mean something from a marketing and recognition angle. CB is a great guy, no doubt, but he does not have a great set of pipes for this work. He lacks big market style. His voice gets too high and he screams too much. Much of that probably is beyond his control. I was fortunate to grow up with giants in broadcasting: Van Miller, Rick Jenerette, Rick Azar, Erv Weinstein. Broadcasting was a profession and your voice was your signature. Not just in Buffalo but across the country. There are still good voices out there but the bills have chosen easy over great. Maybe Kevin Adams did the search.

I see the running game staying strong and growing with the use of Ray Davis. That is not meant to slight Ty Johnson who had a nice campaign last year in limited use. Allen rushed for 240 (approx.)fewer yards than the previous two seasons last year. If there were a Cook back injury, I could see a vet coming in for insurance, and Allen’s use trending up. I believe the rushing yards will increase over 2023 but not due to failure of the passing game. The line will once again be an area of strength. Preservation of Allen’s health is pivotal to getting to the championship. I have faith in our receiver group. The will be very effective, and surprise those who consider the loss off Steff a huge problem. I do not. Joe Brady will become the newest shiny penny in BFLO.

Vegas Odds on Bills landing Michael Thomas
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unless the Bills were to suffer catastrophic injuries to Shakier and Samuel, signing Thomas would make no sense. -
31- Ray Jackson- 1996 until 1998 that we saw Ray Jackson, the first Buffalo Bills to wear the number 31. Jackson was in the league for 6 years, 3 with the Bills and 3 with the Browns. Â Jackson played in 35 games for the Bills and came away with 3 interceptions and 9 total tackles. number 30

They don’t have Josh Allen and he, old stick, makes ALL the difference. Just ask Cole Beasley and John Brown. Now if we had Rodgers or Tua as our quarterback, I’d expect tons of sneering and semi stifled laughter. One is a shadow, the other is Mr. October. Concerning the quality of our receivers, you are as wrong as wrong can be.

Miami has better coaches, a better roster overall and a better offense by far. That said, they aren’t a better squad than last year. Robert Sala has showed he is not a miracle worker in NY. I see his defense taking a step back. The Packers are still laughing their asses off from the trade for AR. He will not lead the Jets to the promised land. He was mediocre during his last season with GB. Now he is older and more damaged. Buffalo will win the division—-end of story.

This nothing but good news. I recall many “camp body” reactions to his signing. Why would one see this as an indictment of our receiving squad ? As I have stated all along, our group will prove to be a surprise to naysayers everywhere. The top end of Samuel, Shakier, and Coleman will rip it up. Add MVS,Kincaid, Cook, Knox, Davis and a magnificent comeback year from Claypool and the pundits will wonder how they overrated Houston and underrated the Bills. Should Coleman have to take it slow, Isabella or Shorter provide options. Mark it Dudes.

I appreciate all you stay at home GM’s and the effort you have brought to today’s thread. I was onboard with the Bills’ draft strategy, and believe in this kid as a player until I see otherwise. We all know the draft is a crap shoot. Here is my guess: Keon will catch 10 tds and have at least 600 yards receiving in our offense. Not an all time rookie season but a very good one. Josh Allen will make him better than several drafted before and after him. I have no proof, but I do have the success of his predecessors to demonstrate the point. (Gabe D $13M). Tack on some rushing and return yards and the yellow jacket will outshine all the negativity.

What would you like to see added post June 1st?
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like the 90 we have currently. Help at corner will come post June 1 with a veteran signing. Hopefully someone younger than Booker Eggerson (love you Booker!) There seems to be a real discount of Casey Toohill had 5.5 sacks in limited last year. Even DeShawn Williams had 4.5 in 22 playing some end. I see the Bills as sneaky good in this area; assuming natural growth from AJ and Groot. Miller is pure bonus and who knows Solomon may be a surprise contributor. I am already 100% in with our receiver group. More and more I see Samuel going back outside where he was very successful OSU and early in his pro career. Psyched for the season. I was watching x-files the night before the schedule came out. The resulting smoking man fueled paranoia has me convinced the league is doing its best to get the Jets a division title. Our schedule is brutal. Luckily they have Rodgers and we—-the Josh. -
There will be a significant contribution from Isabella, Shorter, Hamler or Hollins. The first three have speed to stretch the field. Even if we found 80 catches of the 14 to 15 yd average in that group it would be hugely impactful . Hollins is the kind of insurance policy the Bills love in a veteran. Josh Allen could deliver Mack Hollins to the land of the living career-wise. These four receivers are the ones we are underestimating in our projections for this year. It just takes one to have a breakout year and make everybody forget about the second receiver “we should have drafted”. We don’t see these guys practice nor can we appreciate what the bills know and believe. I love surprises. We will see some in 24! Samuel, Shakier, Kincaid and Cook will catch a lot of balls. Davis and Knox will contribute significantly. The Bills’ offense will be top seven—-again. Happy Muthers Day!

Chiefs Bills Playoff Replay / Bass Kicking
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he doesn’t do his job, he will be out. Then suppose his effin cat charity will get about a billion dollars. -
Best wishes Murph. I have a good thought for your continuing recovery. The Bills need a big league voice again. When one thinks about the historical broadcast standards set by van miller, Ted Darling and Rick Jeannette in Buffalo sports, ownership needs to do a credible search. I think about someone like Jack Micheals who does Edmonton games. Tremendous on air presence and voice. Chris Brown is a fine studio guy but a play by play man, he is not. Hopefully the Bills were only waiting out of deference to Murph, but will take action now.

Would you deal? Treylon Burks for Kaiir Elam
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to Kaenon's topic in The Stadium Wall
We cannot afford to lose a cornerback, let alone one who can still contribute. Burks will be a cut this year or next, or a trade for a 6th round pick to a team who ISN’T loaded at slot. We need some little guys yo. We are currently the land of the giants. -
“What does this mean for Treylon Burks? Short answer: It's not a great sign. Burks' first two pro seasons have been derailed by injuries, and he hasn't been particularly productive when he has been on the field. New Titans coach Brian Callahan raved during a radio interview after the NFL draft about how impressed he has been with Burks. But adding Boyd certainly puts a dent in Burks' share of reps. Burks has two more years plus a fifth-year option on his rookie contract. With Boyd and Hopkins on short-term deals, there's value in keeping Burks around and trying to develop him. Maybe taking the pressure of having to be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver off Burks allows him to flash his first-round potential. Maybe some improved injury luck allows him to emerge organically. But the realistic conclusion is the Titans signed Boyd because they believed they needed immediate, proven consistency from their No. 3 receiver. Burks isn't that. He'll have an uphill climb to earn reps in base, three-receiver sets and factor into the Titans' offensive plans in any meaningful way.” https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2024/05/07/tyler-boyd-titans-will-levis-deandre-hopkins-treylon-burks-wide-receivers/73601013007/ Looks like the one in danger here is Berks, which doesn’t help us. Titans threw around a lot of money to Ridley, Pollard, Sneed, Cushenberry and others. They look like a team that is all in, not one who will sell off assets in November. I like the possibilities our young wideouts offer versus Dhop who is getting to the end of the line. He is like some wedding dress posters wished we had bought three marriages ago. It’s over dudes, your boobs will not look good in that low cut design.

I have to disagree Mr. Walnuts. The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl with a bunch of hockey pucks playing receiver. Kelce even had a bit of a down year. They beat the 49ers, who are loaded at receiver. They also defeated the Ravens who have two very good receivers and a solid TE. The Ravens lost because they tried to out pass the Chiefs instead of just being the best rushing team in the AFC. The Bills, seeing KC’s success are emulating the approach. What team with a twenty five million dollar receiver has won it all? The answer is none. A variety of targets schemed in the right way, with a good running attack is enough when JA17 is Quarterback. Hell I can’t wait to see our younger jumped up defense fly around. These are some exciting times mates!

Claypool is another inexpensive option for the Bills’ short and intermediate passing game development. He is a guy with a ton of wasted potential so far, if he pulls his head out of his dupah, then you’ve got a real contributor. He has an A+ QB so that will change things. Should he fail, we’ve lost nothing. Shorter and Shavers get to see what desperation looks like up close. Considering how our long passing game was so well defended last year, I like how things are shaping up with a mix of size and speed. Shakier will have a very good year, as will Samuel. We may see a revitalized Dawson Knox along with an even better Dalton Kincaid. I do not understand the handwringing about the Offense. We will run, we will pass. We still have Josh in the saddle. Joe Brady will put Corduroy back in style at OBD.

There were too many guys on that desk last season. Simms and Esiason, even Cower rarely had a chance to talk. I always thought Simms had good honest insight. I recall last year the 13 seconds game came up, and one guy after another talked about the bills not getting the ball back in OT. Simms correctly pointed out that the Bills poor defense concepts allowed KC to tie. In general, these shows could have smaller teams. Nobody gets to talk for more than 20 or 30 seconds on the networks. ESPN and NFL channel have more time and flexibility for larger teams but even they over do it.

Fact vs Fiction: "Keon Coleman is not a separator"
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
He looks explosive and athletic. Not dissimilar to Andre Reed. Used in combination with the Bills other options; a solid run game , Kincaid, Samuel and Shakier—-very useful. He will give us a fabulous goal line alternative to Josh running. When I look back at how the long game faltered during our 6-6 stretch last year, this is the Bills’ reaction. A mixture of twitchy and physical pass catchers will provide a powerful short and intermediate passing attack. At same time this group can be schemed long to keep the defense honest. Thanks for posting the vid. -
Beane: "This team is in transition"
Jimmy Harris 69 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
The team while transitioning is still “going for it”; Bean said that too when Diggs was traded. It’s no less true that the Chiefs were going for it when they brought in rookie starters on defense two years ago. The nature of a transition : Change from one form, state, style, or place to another. This is not a reconstruction or rebuild. I feel no need to lose my mind. The team has a great line, qb, many weapons, excellent defensive coaches and lots of talent. I’m excited to see Keon Coleman, and Bishop jump in. Many of us are quick to give the other teams too much credit. It’s easier to win the draft day press conference than to field excellent players two years later. I like our draft a lot. We replenished all key positions. A veteran receiver by July is likely. It’s spring, time for tearing out the weeds and sick plants; raking out the beds. We plant anew, fertilize and watch the plants grow.
