  1. The team while transitioning is still “going for it”; Bean said that too when Diggs was traded. It’s no less true that the Chiefs were going for it when they brought in rookie starters on defense two years ago. The nature of a transition : Change from one form, state, style, or place to another. This is not a reconstruction or rebuild. I feel no need to lose my mind. The team has a great line, qb, many weapons, excellent defensive coaches and lots of talent. I’m excited to see Keon Coleman, and Bishop jump in. Many of us are quick to give the other teams too much credit. It’s easier to win the draft day press conference than to field excellent players two years later. I like our draft a lot. We replenished all key positions. A veteran receiver by July is likely. It’s spring, time for tearing out the weeds and sick plants; raking out the beds. We plant anew, fertilize and watch the plants grow.
  2. I started following the the Rams in 69 after watching “ The NFL Game of the Week” with Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshire one Saturday afternoon. The Rams were 9-0 at that point and my poor hometown Bills were likely 1-8. Summerall talked about how tough it was to take down “big Gabe”. He was big for QB’s at the time; 6-4 , 225 and could move in the pocket (think Big Ben). He had a very good career but didn’t win a championship. Rams lost to the eventual champion Packers in 67 and Joe Kapp led Vikings in 69. He even made a movie with John Wayne, Rock Hudson and fellow Ram Merlin Olsen. …the Undefeated. RIP big fella.
  3. Here’s what will happen : Bean will disappoint us and we will envy Kansas City’s draft. Then two years from now we will have solid starters who we love, and kc’s injury riddled trade up pick will be a non factor.
  4. Mike Williams, receiver from usc. Detroit drafted him 10th overall in 2005 Charles Rodgers , Mich. State.- 2003, 2nd pick of the first round by ….. Detroit
  5. McBean, Let the draft come to you. Trade down to the top of the 2nd if the board suits. We need three to four immediate contributors. We already have Josh Allen. We don’t need the one of the top three receivers in the draft…
  6. During the Bills’ 6-1 stretch Diggs caught 37 for 349 for one td; Davis 12 for 256 and two tds. That production is hardly irreplaceable. I firmly believe Curtis Samuel, a un-named veteran and an explosive rookie will have no problem re-creating the 2000 yards of production Diggs and Davis had in 23. Joe Brady will continue the diversification and growth of this offense. It will be to the bills advantage to be underestimated——and their opponents peril. Go Bills!
  7. Moving up always gives one the chance to “win the draft” in the eyes of some expert. History has shown the cost is too high, and it fails to be the difference maker (see the falcons with no trophy and see the chiefs hoisting the trophy using a bunch of what-sis). I’d be satisfied with a staying at 28 or even moving down a tad. Moving down and dealing Minnesota’s 2025 number 2 could potentially get us a starting receiver, DT and safety in rounds 2 and 3. We could then grab another receiver in round 4 or 5, in addition to staying open to veterans on the market this summer. We need edge, cb and rb help as well. McConkey, Worthy should still be in play in late round 1, the others in later rounds. This list is from cbs sports. Ladd McConkey, UGA, 6-0 / 185 Worthy, TEXAS, 6-1 / 172 Coleman, FSU, 6-4 / 215 Baker, UCF, 6-1 / 208 Franklin, OREG, 6-3 / 187 McMillan, WASH, 6-1 / 192 Corley, WKY, 5-11 / 210 Polk WASH, 6-2 / 204 Legette, SC, 6-3 / 227 Smith, TXAM, 5-10 / 200 Wilson, MICH, 6-0 / 192 Cowing, ARIZ, 5-11 / 175
  8. Burks needs to go through waivers. Dude has not lived up to the beast mode receiver hype nor his salary. He is shaping up to be Kelvin Benjamin instead. Someone to take a flyer on?
  9. Unfortunately Knox is a chronic ball dropper with the worst contract on the team: Mar 11 2021- “Knox and the Bills have agreed to a restructured contract that lowers his scheduled $14.4 million cap hit for 2024, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. The tight end is entering the second season of a four-year, $52 million extension that guarantees most of his money through 2024 but none thereafter. It's possible this agreement changes that, but if not, Knox's future with the team could come into question next offseason. His fantasy value has taken a big hit since the Bills drafted fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.” This is one for which Bean deserves distain. Terrible contract for a middling player. Talk about being in love with a draft pick. Dawson has had some amazing moments but for every great catch there is a drop at the worst time. The 12 man personnel should be back with two tight ends. After getting only 22 for 186 yards in 15 games, it is hard to see him catching a ton of balls. In 2025 he will be likely gone, playing for much much less elsewhere.
  10. Poyer handled it with tact, credit to him for that. Of course he was part of the defensive collapse out there so he had to tread carefully. Tragically McDermott and his coaches were so afraid of giving up one big play, they simply allowed it in small pieces. Protecting the sidelines and leaving the middle open when kc had TO’s was as bad a blunder as not squibbing the kick. Tho I am not convinced that they thought the squib was the best course. Somewhere in his risk adverse mind McD worried the kick wouldn’t go deep enough. 13 was the worst Billsey loss ever. It’s on McDermott. What makes even worse to this day is Coach McD didn’t take responsibility, and he should have. “This loss is on me. I didn't properly guide the team during the last 13 seconds. “ Instead he talked gibberish like some corporate weasel. I threw out a bunch of bills gear after that night. What a bunch of screw up coaches .
  11. They will need him when Rodgers gets hurt in the second game. He is a thousand years old for f$$k sake.
  12. I would like to see experimentation with Diggs in the slot at different points in the game. Use he and Kinkaid as funky chess pieces in the middle of the field. Pressure defenses further with our new speed on the outside Adonai Mitchell and Van Jefferson (my cheap FA pick).
  13. “Two of the likeliest candidates to be gone are the two star defenders, Khalil Mack, and Joey Bosa. Not only are Mack and Bosa the two of the highest-profile players on the team, but they are also the highest-paid. Mack has a cap hit of $38.5 million for 2024 while Bosa costs the Chargers $36.6 million.” These are cuts. No one will pick up these contracts.
  14. Let’s try on Van Jefferson.
  15. Let’s have a look at Van Jefferson. He is fast, decent route runner. His career has stalled. A great QB could make him what the Rams thought he could be.
  16. Really? The median worldwide income is $2,800 per year according to Giving What We Can. That means half the households in America makes more than 25 times the median worldwide income. Are we going to cry about our first world problems in this stupid football column? If you don’t like your job get a new one. These modern Roman gladiators enter this profession eyes open. Sex, fame, glory and riches. Oh my boo hoo.
  17. This is not the right question. Which franchise has had a better head coach, offensive game plan and a big game defensive coordinator during the last seven years ? Kansas City—we all know. The plan and the pieces Andy Reid put around Mahomes has made ALL the difference offensively. Spagnuolo has stopped the patriot machine, the niners, the bills. We don’t have a defense that can beat The chiefs in the playoffs. The winner of the trade is Pat Mahomes. His career would be distinctly different anywhere else, even in BFO.
  18. This kid will get his trophy. He is just too good. I’m doubtful that it will be with McD. Dude still wants to win 20 to 17 in a league that is more interested in 31 to 28.
  19. We do a BIG reload and come back for another go at the champs. It’s time to get younger. Teams like the Chiefs and Rams have shown it’s possible to get younger and maintain quality. Are McBean willing to trust younger players? Are they brave enough to move on from Miller, Diggs, Hyde and White so that three years from now we can have cap room again? Is it crazy to think Josh passed up Diggs on the crossing against KC because he dropped a sure touchdown shortly before? Point is, that kid is not worth 31 million. We aren’t going to nickel and dime our way out of this. Slavish devotion the old thinking has not got us past the divisional round. We have Josh Allen , he makes every receiver a potential all pro. KC has been bold and they have three trophies. We traded the chance to have the best quarterback in football for the chance to have a cornerback.
  20. The idea of having King Henry in your backfield is great, the financial reality is not. We don’t need a running back version of Von Miller. He will patch together some terrific games but he will disappear. Cook should be on the field more, not less. Unfortunately Coach feels the need to punish the team by taking Cook off the field for making mistakes. I agree with other posts about Ty Johnson if we can afford him, bring him back. Overall we must get younger and faster on offense. There is no room for one dimensional guys like Tyler Matakevich or Latavious Murray taking up roster spots. Keep that rookie “speed merchant” on your active roster as another weapon for your all pro QB. All the resources McD poured into his poor special teams could have made his offense what—-10 or 15% better. That wins games instead of losing them to Guy Smiley. Not that I care. I don’t even like the Bills. Stupid divisional round bumblers.
  21. Lest we forget, the bills traded up for the “privilege “of drafting Zay Jones instead of selecting Cooper Kupp. Zay’s dad was a coach on the bills, which probably blinded our talent scout. Kupp has an insane rookie year while Jones has a regular insane year.
  22. This is an instructive stat, it indicates a need for deep speed to me. Though as the KC playoff game showed, unless there is a catch at the end, deep incompletions can leave you wanting completion of a nice 7 yard crossing route on 2nd down.
  23. This is a good move. The offense produced WELL after having serious problems. It reflects well on Brady that a mid season change went. We saw Kincaid go downfield, Shakier become more important and cook become a more complete player. Besides the Steelers interviewed Arthur Smith, would you like a block head like that? Go Joe!
