  1. I glad McDermott is challenging him by bringing in completion. They are looking for a response from Bass. Buffalo needs a kicker who can line up fearlessly with the likes of Butker, Fairbairn Tucker. Fairbairn has six FG over 50 yards already. (While that is good kicking, it’s also indicative of an anemic offense) Great move by McBean to address the problem early in the year. It would gut the team if Bass fails us in another big situation. Then it’s back to the kitty shelter full time.
  2. We beat him again. His season is swirling around in the bowl. I don’t get the hate. He’s an interesting guy who lives in a metropolis and dresses the part. I enjoy the fact that he is decidedly not like most football coaches—-ensconced in bro- manism. Lighten up Francis (es).
  3. August 3 SI- “The length of Hill's contract with the Dolphins remains the same — it expires after the 2026 season — — but what's changed are the guarantees. Before the restructure, Hill had no guaranteed money left on his deal after the 2024 season. Hill still will make $90 million over the next three years, but what's changed is the guaranteed money, per the ESPN report. The restructured contract will give him a four-year total, including 2023, of $106.5 million guaranteed, the most ever for any wide receiver.” If Miami had any issues with this guy, they would not have done this deal. Additionally, a trade would scream that they are giving up in 2024. Only a football trade, for a qb and some lineman would make any kind of sense for the phins. Few teams have those kind assets. Parting with them to add a guy mid season is a giant risk for a trade partner. Hill’s picture is shown under the word “mercurial” in the dictionary. Miami will grind their way out of this or fail in the attempt. To do otherwise is to show no belief in your organization and coaches. Miami has created a financial meteor storm for themselves in the coming years, a blessing for us.
  4. McDermott and Babich will clean up the defense against the fins. The Bills will grind, and Josh Allen 🤔 will fillet the fish. Bills by 8.
  5. This just in: My friend, who knows a front office guy on the Bills super well, told me the real reason they didn’t draft Xavier Worthy is that he is an accomplished holder. They were afraid of upsetting team chemistry.
  6. According to Spotrac, punters earn an average of $1,520,940 per year. This figure represents the average salaries for the special teams unit in the NFL for the 2023 season. The Bills are paying Martin $2M for three years. This puts him in the middle of the pack for punters in the NFL. The decision to hurry into a deal was a poor one considering how much they punt the ball. A rookie would have served them as well for under a million. The team has bungled the position in recent years. Bojo was a much better punter than any of the yo’s they’ve brought in since. One article cited holding as a possible issue for the decline in Tyler Bass’ effectiveness because that was the only difference they could see from the outside. Hardly scientific. If the ball wasn’t being placed properly for Bass, don’t you think that would be fixed by lunchtime? Other players could hold if the punter wasn’t capable. They have a salary problem with a player who has the yips. Maybe they could hire that shrink from the “Natural”. “ missing kicks is like a disease as bad as bubonic plague.…”
  7. An awful lot will depend upon the Bills overall situation should Josh Allen be injured; what their record is, how many games are left. If the season were seven games old or less and If Mitch Trubisky played badly, Beane wouldn’t sit on his hands. There are other quarterbacks who could be obtained. CJ Beathard is on the street, and there are others. But Beane is not going to go out and make a deal now, he has money invested in Trubisky. Do I wish Mitch looked better, for sure. I’m not going to wring my hands over the wreckage of the future——not while Josh Allen is healthy.
  8. Why is Shorter even on the Practice Squad? Two bites at the apple and he is no farther along. This year was his golden opportunity; only 1 out of 5 receivers was around last year. Pfff. Time to move on. He can’t even stay on the field in games that don’t matter. Hey McBeane snag a PS prospect from the rams, or the 49ers, teams that consistently draft receivers who actually play in the nfl.
  9. This is a weird trade. This kid doesn’t know your defense, he’s another one trick special teamer. McDermott just can’t get out of the past. He always short changes the main units of the team for these limited use guys. Hamler or Isabella bring speed to your offense and perform return duties. Is the net return yardage going to win games? I think fast receivers help you more, even if they are merely decoys 60% of the time. Or keep TeCory Couch, he played some good ball. It’s difficult to believe nobody in the building can return kicks. This is not the roster thread but I find their decision making quite puzzling at times. For all the talk about Shavers he doesn’t appear on the 53, but Baylon (forever injured ) Spector is on there. Morris over Davidson, though the latter is a better receiver. Well, coming back around to this trade, I’m sure the jets traded Codrington because he was too good. Beane’s genius will shine through and I’ll eat my hat when he scores against NYJ.
  10. The fatal flaw in your argument is that you think like a fan, and assume these owners think the same. Number one, they are business people who receive a guaranteed $250 million a year and all the cashe that goes with being rich, powerful and exclusive owners of the most popular sport in America. They get richer every year, and their team is worth more WHETHER THEY WIN THE SB OR NOT. What if they didn’t truly care who won? I know it casts a real pallor on us fans. I wish I had a better news, but we are the ants at the nfl picnic. We make sacrifices for our jobs right? What if their sacrifices are unspoken acceptance of certain realities about the true competitive nature of their game?
  11. There are 9 billion reasons. In 1989, Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys from H.R. “Bum” Bright for an undisclosed amount. At the time, the team was valued at approximately $140 million. Adjusted for inflation, that would be equivalent to around $270 million in today’s dollars. However, it’s essential to note that the Cowboys’ value has significantly increased over the years due to their success on the field, lucrative television contracts, and the NFL’s overall growth. Today, the Cowboys are estimated to be worth around $9 billion, according to Forbes. Last year, As the owner of the Cowboys, Jones receives a significant portion of the team’s revenue, which includes: Ticket sales: ~$150 million (avg. annual revenue) Sponsorships: ~$50 million (avg. annual revenue) Merchandise: ~$20 million (avg. annual revenue) TV contracts: ~$100 million (avg. annual revenue) Total: ~$320 million (avg. annual revenue) Around $300 Million estimated. Here’s the convo WEO…”So Jerry welcome to our club, it’s one of the most exclusive in the world. We even have anti trust protection from the US congress. We want a competitive, great brand of football, but sometimes decisions have to be made for the good of our product —NFL football. Go along Jerry and you will be a billionaire in a sea of stars and starlets…..whaddda ya say?” Billionaires don’t think and act like you and me. Their plans revolve around MORE. His team not winning the SB hasn’t hurt a bit.
  12. Yes. Human Dollar signs
  13. I can’t wait to watch the Jets circle the drain by week 11. These magnificent pundits will get the sports equivalent of Alzheimer’s and forget they picked jets to go to the super bowl. And we, my friends, will ride the buffalo wing !
  14. Just as hulk hogan inexplicably bested Andre the Giant (despite his physical superiority)in their championship match, the NFL picks winners and storylines they like. The refs and the ever complex rule system are tools to create outcomes. I’m not saying it’s fixed but it sure is STRANGE !
  15. It’s my fervent hope the Bills acquire Bailey Zappe as their number two. Anthony Brown may end up on the practice squad if he shows well, or DiNucci. I see an injury settlement with Mitch. Or I’m tossing’ turds and old Mitch hangs around in spite of his below average performance because the money hit is too grave.
  16. Oh contraire. Josh Allen is our best player, and he must be paid. As long as we have him, CeeCee or Brandin can go get overpaid by someone else. You 808, you have a great day!
  17. Allen signed a six-year, $258 million contract with the Bills in 2021. With that $43 million annual average value, Allen is 13th among quarterbacks, per contract website Spotrac. So we are good.
  18. Roster cuts offer opportunities for Buffalo. WR’s David Bell -Cleveland, Simi Fehoko -LA, Allen Lazard- NY and Robert Woods in Houston may be on the outside looking in on their respective clubs. Woods and Lazard would have to pass through waivers as they are both price prohibitive. Bailey Zappe is a better QB than Mitch, if my eyes tell me anything. He’s a likely cut up north. Let’s go shopping!
  19. Justin Jefferson ( Vikings) - $35M A.J. Brown (Eagles)-$32M Amon-Ra St. Brown (Lions) - $30.002 Tyreek Hill (Miami Dolphins) - $30M Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - $28.25M Davante Adams (Raiders) - $28 M Cooper Kupp (Rams) - $26.7M DeVonta Smith ( Eagles) - $25M Nico Collins (Texans) - $24.25M D.K. Metcalf (Seahawks) - $24M This is yearly average annual income. Here are the highest paid receivers this year based on average annual income. Of those listed, Kupp was paid after the Rams won the SB in 2022; Hill was traded after the Chiefs won in 2020, year two of his three year $54M contract. Nobody else on the list has a ring. St. Brown, Collins and Kupp have the best chance to get to a SB this year. (The fish will flounder as always)” Lamb may get paid but the Boys will be no closer to winning a Super Bowl than last year when the bottom seed Packers drilled their backsides at home. This trend is likely to go the way of highly paid RB if nobody wins super bowls with expensive receivers. So far the Chiefs, a dynasty, are the only ones. They knew Hill was greedy and the model was unsustainable. He left and they kept winning. I have no issue with the Bills moving out Diggs and not jumping back into this crazy receiver market. They haven’t beaten the Chiefs but lately nobody has.
  20. Come on, those guys are making plays against dudes who will be on the PS or a couch in a few weeks. Trust the process. Shavers sees action, Coleman sees action, MVS will be healthy be game one. We have Josh Allen, he makes his receivers all pros. Somebody going to get cut and if Buffalo truly needs more talent in the receiver room, they can go get it. Or McBean will make a deal. He has picks…..
  21. Kudos for generating all this discussion based on a silly hypothetical. Many immediately heard second round pick but the original question said 2nd day which is rounds two and three. Trading away our most accomplished tailback since Fred Jackson for a third round pick or even a second round pick, with no one of proven skill on the roster to replace him is irresponsible. Dumb mistakes like that get GMs fired. We need the player, we have plenty of picks. So cue Austin Powers nemesis…..How about no.
  22. Anyone have stats on how the bills rank in games list to injury compared to other teams? I have wondered about the effectiveness of their training philosophies and regiments in light of these injuries. Of course “everything’s a situation” (NYPD Blue).
  23. The Bills prepared for the possibility that Milano wouldn’t be ready. Jones, Spector, Bernard, Williams——we will be fine.
