  1. EJ and Dareus or EJ and Hughes should garner a high first round pick, maybe.
  2. You're asking Manuel to do something he is incapable of. Nothing in his college or pro career has shown that he can do what you are asking. Orton provides the best chance the Bills have of decent QB play this year, even if that chance is extremely small. Manuel has proven without a doubt that he has no future as an NFL QB. Sure you can play him and watch him confirm that he is the next subLosman QB or you can play Orton and have a chance, no matter how small, of competing. Hopefully neither one of them is the Bills QB next year.
  3. Pegulas mistake with the Sabres was waiting too long to removing Regier. The Sabres are right where they should be now. The mistake Pegula made was believing that Regier was capable of turning the team around without the blowup. Once Pegula realized there was no other way, he moved swiftly to remove Regier and bring in others. I just hope he doesn't make this same mistake with the Bills. Bring in a football person to either run the football side or act as a consultant to make the changes needed and then move forward. Even though watching the Sabres is painful at times the future is very bright and there was no other option. With the Bills I don't think it requires a blowup just some tweaks and a QB.
  4. Orton is bad, very bad. Given that, EJ has proven Orton, or almost anyone else, is better. The Bills need to find a QB or the smartest Off Coord ever before next season. EJ and Orton have both proven that they are not the answer and Hackett is standing right next to them. Orton might be adequate if we can get a better OC but the only way EJ plays again is if Orton gets hurt or the Bills give up on the season and don't want Orton back.
  5. Marrone's status is dependent on who the consultant is that Pegula brings in. Winning more games will increase Marrone's chances of staying but ultimately it depends on what the football department review comes back with.
  6. Orton's a nice fill in until the Bills find somebody else who can be the "franchise" QB. Manuel's done. He's proven beyond a doubt that he won't be the franchise QB. It would require a complete turn around in his play for Manuel to be the franchise QB. Orton can keep the seat warm until the Bills find a better option through the draft or FA. The inability of the front office to find a adequate QB could be the demise of Whaley and Marrone with the Bills.
  7. I'm really hoping Pegula brings in someone who can be considered an expert immediately to review the organization and Ron Wolf would be a good choice. I'm not so sure about Gruden. He's been there done that and may not have the burning desire to do it again. He may be too comfortable with his media job to want to put in the needed time to win another Super Bowl.
  8. If Manuel continues to be at best a "game manager" mixed with poor performances through the rest of this season, I think the Bills have to find someone, maybe Orton, who can at least be better. I think Manuel has the rest of this year maybe. It depends on how much Whaley and Marrone fear for their jobs if it looks like they will miss the playoffs.
  9. I'd give everyone the remainder of the season and then reassess. Make the playoffs and everyone is probably good. Miss the playoffs but show some improvement on the field and everyone is probably good. Go 6-10 or worse: Marrone is gone, bring in a football man to lead the football operation and Brandon runs the business side. Whaley staying would be up to whoever is running the football side. I think Brandon had a great deal to do with regionalizing the team and improving the business side. If Brandon was agreeable to staying under those changes, I would try to keep him no matter what the record.
  10. I don't think the timeline had much to do with when a home game was. It was all about the timing of the NFL finance committee, the owner's meeting and the need for Wilson's estate to close the sale out quickly for various reasons. I'll actually be surprised if there is any formal ceremony at this week's game that includes the Pegula's. What I'm hoping for is an official ceremony at the Patriots game with Mrs. Wilson and the Pegulas on the field. Hopefully the NFL approval would come on the 8th and that would be the first home game after the ownership change is official.
  11. Can't understand what Jackson was doing on punt catching duty.
  12. Signing was clearly a panic move. So what? Whaley realized Lewis and Tuel have shown nothing and Manuel not much more so far. The combined poor performance of Lewis and Tuel along with the poor performance of EJ, Whaley had to find someone that could be the backup and start if EJ doesn't turn it around during the first few weeks of the season. Orton was signed to be the backup and to be the starter if the Bills need to bail on EJ at some point during the season. They couldn't go into the season without doing something. Signing Orton to be backup/starter improved the team going forward.
  13. I think EJ has this year and next to show he is capable. Before year 4 of EJ the terrible, Whaley saves his job and some or all of the coaching staff is gone. In year five if no competent QB has been found, Whaley is gone. Of course when a new owner buys the team they may all be gone anyways.
  14. Even watching my own kids play it was boring. I don't understand the wild cheering that occurs when the ball moves the length of the field and then is launched out of bounds nearly missing the goal by what appears to be 20 yards or more. I just can't get into watching it. I will say though that it was a totally different experience playing it. I got to play a handful of games when the local town team was short players and looking for any decent athlete to play. I made two good plays, had what I would call an assist, made so many plays that would be described as "Why in the world did he do that?" and had a great time playing the game. I can understand why people play, but I just can't understand why anyone watches.
  15. As I live near Rochester I like the Batavia site. From a getting people to the game standpoint it makes the most sense. The needed infrastructure would be far more easy to create there than in either the city of Buffalo or Niagara Falls. However, putting the stadium there adds to no existing destination except itself. Outside of the rural charm of Batavia and Yancy's Fancy nearby there isn't a whole lot there to attract people except for the stadium were it to be built there. Buffalo close to the FN arena, Harbor center and the waterfront the stadium would contribute to the destination that those things are becoming. Niagara Falls is somewhat the same idea, the stadium would help to add to the destination that is already attracting people. I think Buffalo wins out over NF, but neither is going to be easy due to the infrastructure that needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Simple terms do you create a third destination for people near Batavia or do you add to the downtown Buffalo destination or to NF.
  16. If there was another option that talked mostly Buffalo sports at their time I would definitely listen. Unfortunately, there isn't. If it was just Schopp and the bulldog i wouldn't tune in. Some of their guests are worth listening to. I'm guessing that their ratings are decent or good, but I wonder if that is due to having no competition.
  17. I think they have to get a tackle out of this draft. Glenn becomes a free agent in 2016 and whoever they draft this year would be insurance against Glenn not resigning and can play RT until then.
  18. I wouldn't trade up for any player unless it is a franchise QB. With all of the holes the Bills have they need all of the draft picks they have and more not less. I wouldn't mind seeing them trade down again this year to garner another pick or two.
  19. Oh please. he's a special teams player. /sarcasm on: I'm sure since we didn't sign him we miss the playoffs again. /sarcasm off.
  20. The Bills really need to draft a QB in rounds 1-3 or get someone in free agency that could have a chance to start. And to improve the chances that whoever is the QB succeeds in the next two years they need to get a #1 wide receiver and an addition to the OL. Manuel hasn't proven that he is the answer, but he also hasn't proven he isn't. Given that QB is by far the most important position on the field the Bills have to hedge their bet on Manuel. If Manuel plays 16 games next year they'll know one way or another whether to continue with him for the 3rd year or to try whoever they get this year. If they don't, Marrone's chances of staying around for his 4th year aren't good.
  21. And that is the reason so little ever gets done compared to what could be if government would just get out of the way
  22. With all of the holes the Bills need to fill they really shouldn't be trading up in the draft. If anything they should be looking to trade down and get more picks just like last year.
  23. Get the Ohio State band and one of their moving field shows. It's pretty amazing what they can do. Bruno Mars was pretty good. The Chili Peppers not so much. My biggest gripe is not the half time show as I'm usually only casually watching it as I'm doing other things. But please, please find someone who will actually sing the national anthem as it was meant to be. It's not an opera, it doesn't have america the beautiful in the middle of it, it doesn't have a lot of warbling on the long hold notes, if the singer can't hit the high notes then don't sign up to sing it! It's not about who is singing it, it's about how well they sing it.
  24. Good to see Reich possibly moving up. Hope he gets the job. OC now. Bills head coach candidate when Marrone is let go.
