  1. No offense (or pun) but I hope the Bills aren't basing free agency signings on game rankings.
  2. If I'm EM I want to go someplace else. With the QB problems here and the rebuilding that needs to be done he'll be lucky to see the playoffs again before he retires, much less entertain any thoughts of getting to a SB. If I were EM I would take a lot less money to play my last 2 to 3 years with a contender. As a fan, it was nice but we can't afford to keep EM on the team at any cost. It is time to cut the strings and eat the cap money now. By the time this team is ready for the playoffs EM will be too old to contribute as a starting WR. Bring in the rook or young FA to replace him now and who will be ready to contribute to that SB run in 2008 - 2010.
  3. Finally somebody at OBD states the obvious, put the athletic guys on the outside and the behemoths on the inside. Now let's hope they follow through. Teague should have been switched back to tackle 3 years ago and taken a shot wtih Jennings at center. I could never understand the thought that they had to have an athletic center when the DT's and NG's just keep getting bigger and bigger and the DE's keep getting faster and faster.
  4. I was hoping Marv wouldn't stoop so low as to agree to interviews with WGR. WGR is a classless act that its only saving grace is that it is the only sports radio in town. Marv has sold out to the Dope and the Poodle.
  5. The good thing about Clements is that he seems to have some value to other teams. I'd like to see the Bills tag him for the purpose of trading him. He has proven every year that he makes too many mistakes to be the "lock down" corner on the team. The sooner they pull the plug and move on to someone who might be, the better.
  6. If I'm Jauron and Levy I want to win now. They need to make the decision whether JP or Holcomb allows them to do that this year. If not, we'll see a parade of QBs go through in camp and preseason. If I was betting, JP holds a clip board for 2 more years while they find a serviceable (Kitna or Dilfer-esque) QB for 2 years. I'm guessing that Holcomb and Matthews ain't it.
  7. To quote my 8 year old son, "Man that really sounds bad."
  8. What other FA CB are available for that money? If someone is available who is close in talent and might cost less I wouldn't resign Nate. He is clearly not a level 1 corner but he probably would be considered as a second tier cornerback.
  9. What I would have liked to have seen is: 1.) experience as a DC, and 2.) any defensive scheme that could consistently stop the run, 3.) any defensive scheme that could consistently defend the pass. What diff does it make if it is 4-3, 3-4, 2-5, 5-2, 3-3, 2-1-2, man on man, 3-2, a spy, full court press, half court press, just as long as it isn't the prevent-you-from-winning defense.
  10. Looks like the DC was a whiff too. 3 years + until we make the playoffs. God I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet on it.
  11. I'm still not sold on Fairchild due to his lack of actual OC & play calling experience. But I just read the BNews article and I like the fact that he appears to want to be here. That can go a long way in someone performance of their duties.
  12. 2 hires and two whiffs. Fairchild? You've got to be kidding. And what in his background led you to believe he would be good OC? He was a figurehead for Martz in St. Louis and called plays for 9 games!!!! Please I beg you. Please hire a worthy DC. We might have a chance if the D can pitch shutouts all year and the offense protects the ball. Oh yeah....that was the plan this year.
  13. JP is at least two years of clip board duty away from being competitive. ML and DJ and RW don't have that kind of time to waste on grooming a QB who may not make it. I expect they will find a FA QB that can take of things the next 2-3 years while they build a better team. Hopefully do well enough to make the team playoff caliber and then insert JP if needed. I also think is at least 50-50, maybe higher, that he gets cut after next year. ML, DJ don't have to worry about the 1st round draft pick setting on the bench they didn't draft him. They can right him off to the TD era and find someone else to play QB. Wouldn't surprise me that the starting QB in 2007-08 and beyond is drafted or signed as a FA this year
  14. Haven't heard that one as of yet. I can't see Jauron/Levy going into next season with JP as the QB. Possibly Holcomb, but I hope that is unlikely as well. They didn't draft him and I wouldn't risk a bad season on him if I were them (fortunately for the Bills I'm not). It is clear that JP needs 1-2 years of clip board time before he is ready for action. His play last yearly with out a doubt showed that he wasn't ready. A decision needs to made on Holcomb. Can he get you to the playoffs or not? If not, better find the best FA QB available for the next two years. JP isn't ready and won't be for 2 seasons at least.
  15. No matter how much I try to I fail to find any bright side to the hiring of Jauron. I see nothing in his background that leads me to believe that he will be a good head coach. 13-3 and coach of the year? That was followed by 2 poor seasons. Jacksonville DC. Yes they made the playoffs but I would exactly call that successful. Detroit? His record their only supports the downside. He's never worked in what is called a successful organization or for a successful head coach. Where is the opportunity to learn to be a good head coach? It is missing. As a Bills fan I hope this works out. I would be ecstatic if he leads us to a Super Bowl win. Being a realist, I think we will have a top 5 pick the next 2-3 years and will be rebuilding again. Worst case: Low attendance the next two years, Ralph rides off in to the sunset and the new owners point to the poor attendance and prepare to move the team to a new locale. This hire is critical, very critical to the future of the Bills and I'm afraid Ralph and Marv blew it.
  16. Time will tell, but right now I don't see anything in Jauron's background that leads me to believe he will be a good head coach. He's had one winning season followed by two woeful seasons. He's never been to the super bowl. As a head coach he's only been to one playoff game which he lost. I just don't get it. His background isn't so great yet he gets another chance to be a head coach. I hope it works out, but I see the Bills being closer to the first choice in the draft than the playoffs. When you hire someone to lead your team it helps if their "actions speak so loudly no one can hear what you are saying." I think the Bills blew this one. Maybe Malarkey wasn't so dumb after all.
  17. I watched some of the press conf clips when he was announced. He looked like the dog who chased the car, caught it and had absolutely no idea what to do next. Maybe he'll be a good coach but he sure didn't look to confident in that press conf.
  18. Outside of baseball there isn't much of a link between how much you spend and how well the team does. Investing wisely is far more important than the ability to throw money around. I think what you will see with the Sabres is an excellently run organization that will spend money the more it makes money. I don't believe golisano cares if the Sabres make money, he just doesn't want them to lose money. If the team made 5 bucks I believe he'd be happy. He isn't going to lose millions just so Buffalo can have a hockey team.
  19. I fail to see any connection between marv picking a head coach and his picking of asst coaches who became head coaches. Marv was trying to pick good asst coaches, which he did, not pick asst coaches that would go on to become good head coaches someplace. any chance they had as head coaches is after the fact.
  20. Sapp blind sided a Packers lineman as the play was ending. The pay was nearly over, the hit occurred at least 20 yards from the play and Sapp came from behind and to the side to make the hit. It was a legal hit, but there was no need for it other than if Sapp were intentionally trying to hurt someone. Interestingly it seems Sapp has pretty much become non existent as a player since. Guys like that have no place in sports but sometimes everyone has to suffer them.
  21. I really hope whoever the coach of the Bills is never, ever reads or even hears of this board. When the headcoach starts caring what the fans think of the job he is doing he's done. And as to the buffalo media?? If both of them can influence the head coach, he shouldn't be the headcoach.
  22. I'd like to see Saunders, Fassel and Haslett. If one of those three won't agree then take a look at those without HC experience but that is a crap shoot at best.
  23. Well maybe MM had the last laugh. The owner and the new GM give him a vote of confidence and a week later he resigns, completely catching the org off guard, telling everyone that the he didn't like the direction the organization was going. He basically told the world that the Bills are so screwed up internally that he feels there is no possiblity of winning there. Now the last guy who had the the job your interested in, whom the owner liked, has decided it was time to abandon ship due to the stench. If you are a sane individual you immediately think twice, three times, four times and maybe eve decide it could be career suicide to work for that org. I think MM had the last laugh and scr3w3d the Bills over so bad it could take years for it to recover. We'll know shortly when and if they hire a new head coach.
  24. Ah yes another prime example in support of Donahoe's statement. Anything said about Malarkey's performance to third pary sources is fair game. Anything said about Malarkey's performance to his family is just plain wrong. If that teacher had commented to my kid about my job performance, I'd be in the school requesting an apology from that teacher or I just might take retribution myself. No sane person would think otherwise.
  25. I think bringing back Levy was an excellent move and his age doesn't concern me whatsoever. However, the thought of Polian, Butler, Smith and Levy working intimately does. :
