  1. Dungy yes. Vick no. Vick isn't going to win a SB no matter who the coach is and would only delay the need to find a real QB. He would provide hope that would divert the real opportunity to find a QB for the long term. Dungy on the other hand. In a heart beat. Gruden won a SB in TB with the team Dungy helped put together. Dungy helped win a SB in IN. He has the experience. However, if the current FO personnel stay, he would be severally limited in enjoying the same results here.
  2. Two years after a football person is brought in, the FO is cleaned out, and the player personnel people are replaced. It will take 2 good drafts and 2 good FA periods to sign enough quality first string and depth players to make this team competitive on a weekly basis.
  3. it really doesn't matter who the coach is. Yes the team could do better if Jauron were a better coach, but not significantly better. The team is completely lacking talent above mediocre. There are a few pieces that might plug in well on a team that has some stars, but this team completely lacks any star power. The best players are mediocre at best when compared to the rest of the league. Until the player development side of the organization is purged, there is very little hope for improvement. We need to be able to find and develop better players.
  4. I believe Ralph thought/thinks Jauron and Brandon were the best men for the job at the time or he wouldn't have hired them. Finding the right coach is as much luck as it is about knowing who to hire. Bellichick was a failure in Cleveland and has turned out well in NE. Johnson won two SBs in Dallas and didn't do much of anything in Miami. Levy did nothing in KC but worked out well in Buffalo. Its pretty much a crap shoot. Williams, Mularkey were the coordinators at the time. I'm thinking Ralph thought all of those hires were a good idea. None of them have worked out since Levy. Ralph owes no one but himself. If I were him, I would be trying to right the ship as quickly as possible as I would like to see my team win a SB before I passed on in to the great stadium in the sky. Maybe he doesn't think that way. I am fairly certain that money isn't the problem that the media keeps saying it is. If Ralph thought Cowher, Shanahan, etc were the very best coach for the job I don't think the money would be a problem. The fact is there is no guarantee in whomever is hired to be the coach. In fact an unknown probably has a better chance than someone who has already had success.
  5. Leinert? How well does he run for his life?
  6. I vote for the brain cramp that occurs with the coaches and the Front office on a weekly basis.
  7. Please provide concrete examples of that talent. I'm failing to find it. Even with excellent coaching I don't think this team makes the playoffs based on the talent of the players that are on it. The talent on the OLine should get better, but the rest of the team is fairly entrenched at this point. What you see is what we'll get. The talent level is what if and a promise. They do just enough to show promise but not enough to beat mediocre teams. What if this guy had made this play and we promise to do better in the future. Granted the poor showing is a combination of the talent level and the coaching/FO staff though. I'm amazed that they can't figure out a way to get the ball to TO and Evans. Although Evans is highly overrated and easily taken out of a game at times. With the current FO, coaching staff I don't think this team can make the playoffs for the foreseeable future. I don't think they can put the players in place to raise the talent level to a playoff level nor can they coach a limited talent team into the playoffs.
  8. What exactly did the Bills do last night that makes anyone believe that they can win a game? Nothing would be the answer. They lost a game. They outplayed NE for 55 minutes and still lost. They made the same dumb mistakes that they've made for the last 9 years. Did they look better than anyone thought they would, absolutely. I was impressed with how well they played actually. Yet they were able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. On the other side of the field. Brady didn't play well the first half. The NE defense doesn't appear to be that good. I would like to see what happens against TB before upgrading them from 2-14 or 4-12 to a possible 8-8.
  9. And once again Buffalo snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. NE didn't beat us, we beat ourselves again. It is time to pull up stakes and rebuild this team from the top to bottom. An 11 point lead with 5 minutes and we give them the game. The status quo all over again.
  10. Yes great defensive play. They missed the field goal. Things are looking up!!!
  11. Yes it is only preseason but they should be showing improvement and I don't think they are. The GB game was horrible. This game hasn't been any better. When the announcer states that the punter is the highlite of the half it can't be good.
  12. Ralph, You should have left them all in Green Bay last week. They are stinking the place up again. Sincerely, A slightly less hopeful Bills fan.
  13. Actually the plan was for TE to play a half but he sucked so bad they pulled him trying to salvage the game.
  14. Time to throw? It looks like he has plenty of time. He checks down to the outlet receiver on almost every pass play. He sometimes even checks down on running plays!!!!!!
  15. Ralph, It's time to clean house. Don't even let 'em back on the plane. Just fire the whole bunch of 'em and leave 'em in Green Bay. It's a long and well deserved walk from Green Bay to Buffalo after what we've seen so far tonight.
  16. I hope TO shakes things up some. The Bills haven't had real controversy in quite some time and they also haven't made the playoffs. I'm not neccessaritly saying one will lead to the other, but change might be good. I'm not a big TO fan, but he does want to win, believes that getting him the ball is the best way to do that and is vocal about it. Let's try it for a year and see what happens. The status quo for the last x number of years hasn't worked.
  17. London Fletcher has great stats I will agree. Most tackles 5 yards downfield. Made one great play per game so everyone remembers that play and sees all of those stats. The Bills would have been crazy to pay big money to continue with him. Whitner is average at best so far. Is not a game changer which you would hope a number 8 pick would be.
  18. Let's take speculation one step further. What if Jacob's is looking to sell the Bruins, purchase the Bills and the Sabres? The one article states two teams in the same city is possible. Golisano listens to offers, but insists the team has to stay. Jacobs is local and already in the NHL. Unfortunately something will be done with the Bills. Jacobs is local, owns the concessions, etc. Might be a good match. How about minor investors Golisano and Rich. Pure speculation, but the possibilities could be interesting go ensure the teams stay here. Hmmmm....
  19. It this Darwin guy is any good, fleeced 'em. It is better than 50/50 that Spikes is done. At best he will be a shadow of himself as I don't believe any player has come back any where near fully recovered from that injury. Holcombe, a dime a dozen for what we needed him for. Plus we get an all important draft pick. Unless Spikes is fully recovered, fleeced 'em.
  20. $80M for clements is way too much for his position. First I don't think any cornerback is worth that much, second Clements isn't that good to command that much money and third Bills management hopefully have a plan to replace him. Very few, if any, players are expendable as long as management has a plan to replace him with an adequate substitution. Clements was good but certainly wasn't great. He played to the level of the team around him. To command that much money be spent on one CB requires that that CB be able to play great no matter what. Fletcher, it was time to let him go especially at the money he signed for. 5 yards and a ton of tackles is 32 years and could hit the wall at any time and had a difficult time playing the run in the cover 2 defense. He isn't the answer let him go. Once agail we will have to see if the bills have a plan to replace him. The Redskins overpaid as they usually do. Better them than the Bills. It seems to work well for them.
  21. If he never wins another tournament, I will always be a Phil Mickelson fan. Not only because he gave the money but because he did it with no one asking him and without having to stand in front of every TV camera available telling everyone he did.
  22. Tieing that much money up in a CB is way too much. What it comes down to for me is at $10M+ I would feel pretty bad watching Nate play at a mediocre or poor level. I would feel less bad if someone else paid him that kind of money and he was an allpro. If it requires $10M+ per year to resign Nate, let him go. We've lost with him and at $10M+ per year we could maybe sign two players who would upgrade two positions and maybe we are better in the long run. One other thing of the 7 teams with a CB in the top 20 how many made the playoffs? 2. There just might be a connection between spending that much money on one player and poor play since you have to reduce what a team spends on other positions.
  23. You have the right idea, the franchise must build a stadium that regionalizes the franchise. However, it should be kept in the US. A new stadium should be built between Buffalo and Rochester. It's the only way to keep the franchise in WNY, I think.
  24. Fletcher should not be signed. Too old for a rebuilding team and not stout enough against the run to keep without a Ted Washington or Pat Williams type up front. If this were a super bowl team next year, I might keep him. It isn't. I'm not a big fan of Clements. If there is anything reasonable out there to replace him, let him go. However his play the last few weeks makes that decision somewhat more difficult. This team has too many holes to break the bank for him though. Spikes will most likely be gone as well. I just don't think he will recover from that injury. As to replacements....that is what free agency is for.
  25. What difference does it make if he has a career day and the Bills win. Great day. If he has a career day and his pick contributes to the loss, who cares if he had the career day? I'd rather seem him be 15 of 26 with no turnovers and win the game than be 35 of 40 with an interception for a touchdown and lose the game. Is the point that he has a career game or that we win games!
