  1. The games have to be played and the Bills have a chance to win. As we all know anything can happen. However, as far as this season goes it would be completely out of character for the Bills to beat the Pats. They have done absolutely nothing to lead anyone to believe that they have a chance of beating the Pats. Even though the Pats seem to have their own problems, they haven't fallen to the level of the Bills. I don't think they have a chance. That said. If the Bills are going to make anything of the season they must win this week. They are on national tv, they were beaten badly in their last game and haven't played well all year, the Pats might be ripe for the picking. If the Bills have it in them, they'll win this week. If they don't, they won't make the playoffs.
  2. The way the season has gone I hope they no longer make or even discuss changes at half time.
  3. I agree with you on this one. That has to be one of the dumbest calls of all time. A pass to an eligible OL would have been better. And obviously the best play would have been McGahee off tackle. If you can't get one yard when you have to, you have very little chance of winning.
  4. The defense hasn't been good, despite all the brovado, for two years. A complete retooling is needed there especially on the line. Clements? No way can the Bills afford to pay him top dollar nor has he proven he is worth it. There are two many holes on this team to tie up 9 million in one player. Need to find a DE, MLB (Fletcher has been too small for several years and can't stuff the run), OLB (Spikes probably won't return to form anytime soon). The safetys are old we need a younger one there as well. One offense fix the line and you fix the offense. Teague is too small to deal with the DTs and Gandy and Williams are too big to deal with speed rushers. Looks JP has plenty of time to learn the ropes as the rest of the team needs to be completely retooled before there is any chance of going far into the playoffs. I would just settle for beating the have-nots like Oakland though.
  5. I've listened to Schopp since he was in Rochester. I liked him in Rochester, to a lesser degree on WNSA and almost can't stand him now. "Doppe and the Poodle" have no clue about real football discussions. They pick up the obvious or mimic someone else's statements. And on the off chance they do have an original thought it is so bizarre you have to wonder about their mental stability. What they seem to have forgotten is that they are talk show HOSTS. It is not about their opinion, or whether they are right or wrong, or agree or disagree. It is about TALKING, the callers AND them not just the Doppe and the Poodle.
  6. If JP is so mentally fragile that he somehow is scarred and cannot "recover" from being replaced by Holcomb, JP doesn't have a snowball's chance in a very hot place of being a decent starting QB in the NFL. I see very little actual downside to starting Holcomb. Worst case, Holcomb does nothing and everyone knows that the Bills are doomed this year. Best case, Holcomb gets injured in the 3rd qtr with the game tied 14-14. JP comes in throws a TD and the Bills win 20-17. (Lindell missed the extra point when Peters muffed the hold.)
  7. Bills go 4-12. Beating the Jets, Miami and Cinicinnatti to knock them out of the playoff hunt. Joe Dufek comes out of retirement to play QB after Losman, Holcomb & Matthews go on IR. Last game of the year Peters is the emergency QB. Leads blocking on sweep. TD stays no matter what. Mularkey stays no matter what. Clements and Gray could be sacrificial lambs if we don't make the playoffs. Moulds is gone. Williams renogitiates. Clements is franchised and traded. Spikes comes back but is never the same. Fletcher is gone. Teague moves to tackle, Preston goes to center. Bills get #1 draft choice, trade down and get best DL or OL available in draft. Somebody please pinch me so I can wake up from this nightmare.
  8. Clements is either franchised and traded or out right let go to free agency. No way the Bills can spend that much money on a cornerback. Great (and I use the term very loosely in Clements case) are not a neccissity for a winning team. The money would be much better spent on other positions on the team. High paid cornerbacks are a luxery only those teams that have no chance of going to the Super Bowl can afford.
  9. The D is bad, just plain bad. It's reputation has been built on good games against mediocre or poor opponents. Other teams have figured out how to attack it and it is plain to see that they can't hold up. Some say that the D's problem is the poor play of the O. It is very simple. The D has to come up with 3 and outs. If they do that, they get off the field and get a rest. This D has not had to work with a short field. The O isn't turning the ball over at our own 20. Teams are getting the ball in their own end of the field and taking it the length of the field. In that situation the D controls its own fate. If the O was giving the ball to the other team in our end of the field then the O is too blame for some of the bad play by the D, but that is not happening. In this case so far this season, the D is almost completely responsible for its own poor play.
  10. After the debacle yesterday, I think we're looking at closer to 1-15 than to 8-8. I expected a spirited game yesterday from the defense and we got nothing. ST played well. And when you get stuffed twice and 3rd & 1 and 4th & 1 you're toast. Whose the best player coming out of college next year, as I think we are vying for the No. 1 overall pick. This team doesn't show anything. No emotion, no glimpse of good plays, the defense is horrible and just lost their best player, they seem to think that a run of 3 or 4 yards is a great play when they jump up and down and pump their fists. The "lock down" corner still takes penalties at in opportune times and seems to be only playing for himself. It's time to rebuild. The defense is not playoff caliber and never will be. The OLine isn't either and probably never will be. Get 'r done Tom.
  11. Maybe, but so far they are doing an excellent job of hiding that talent.
  12. Becoming a coach for the Bills would be the biggest mistake Kelly ever made. There is only one way he could come out ahead if he did that and that would be to win the SB. Anything else and his persona takes a hit in Buffalo. He is famous here already. Where does he go from that. If he wants to get into coaching it would be better for him to sign on with another team. Yes his name would be known to that team's fans as well, but not like it is in Buffalo.
  13. The OP has a point. I'm not trying to diminish the loss of Spikes. Anytime you lose a Pro Bowler it hurts. However, many times it forces a team to rethink strategy and players to rethink commitment to the team. I wouldn't be surprised to see the D completely shutdown the next 2 or 3 opponents. Then again.... This defense is vastly overrated and could completely collapse for the rest of the season.
  14. Everyone knew going into the season that JP was a rookie QB and had a high potential for being very bad. Winning this season was based solely on special teams and the "all world" defense. JP has lived up to expectations so far. He has been very bad. What's killing the Bills so far is the defense is playing so terrible. Run completely over two weeks in a row. Basically didn't eve put up a fight!!! Was Pat Williams that good? It is clear that this probably isn't a Super Bowl year. I also don't believe this defense has any chance of ever being great. It is time to retool. Rbuild the defense and the OL then take a shot at the playoffs.
  15. Once again the all world, all star defense fails to hold 'em. Looks like the offense is going to have to out score them. In other words we're in trouble.
  16. Ah yes another writer who blames the poor play of the defense against a decent offense on the Bills offense. I didn't see anybody on the offense missing tackles, or getting blown off the ball, or playing out of position. But you know your probably right it was Bledsoe's fault. Every time the defense opens their mouth and touts how good they are it only emphasizes the poor performances they have had against any decent offensive team.
  17. If it were just one game, you could attribute it to the heat. But it hasn't been just one game. Several times when this defense plays a decent offense it comes up short. TB didn't just squeak by the defense. TB steam rolled it. Right up the middle. TB said here we come try to stop us and the all time defense said "Ole!" See ya. Statistically, the defense appears to be all world. When it counts the most they seem to come up short.
  18. For 4ft of snow? Are you kidding? That's just getting started. It would have to snow 4 or 5 times that in a very short period of time to cause significant problems like NO has now. It takes a lot of snow to bring down houses and buildings and cause people to need to evacuate. A more likely scenario is to have Toledo fall into Lake Erie generating a tsunami that inundates the city of Buffalo with 100 foot waves. That could cause some problems. But a little snow doesn't cause that big of a problem.
  19. Somebody rattle Regeir's cage to wake him up.
  20. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Say it isn't soooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! The dumbest guy ever on radio coming back. Sports talk radio will reach an all time high in lows with Dickerson back.
  21. The only way the Sabres organization gets better is when Regier, Quinn and Ruff are gone. Until then not much is going to change I'm afraid. Quinn ran the organization into the ground once before and he'll do it again. Regeir has no clue about how to build a team. He makes a trade or two that work for a time, but he doesn't appear to know much about chemistry or team. And Ruff is a good coach, but if the NHL is truly going to open up the game he is going to have to do an almost 180 in his coaching philosophy. Add on top of this the perceived notion that Buffalo isn't a good hockey organization and forget about it.
  22. I listened to some of their whining on the drive home last night. They act as if they have some right to the information which I don't get. They don't. Actually no one does. Just because someone buys a ticket doesn't give them the right to expect anything other than a game from the team. anything other than admission to the game is absolutely not required from the team. Just more of WGR's extremely poor programming. The dope and the poodle have to be two of the lamest talk show hosts ever.
  23. According to the official LL rules (or at least the site I found them on's version of the official LL rules) Stealing is not allowed in TBall, Minors and Majors. A balk cannot be called in these age groups either. Stealing is allowed in Juniors, Seniors and Big League. A balk can be called in these age groups. If the LL rules are strictly enforced a 9-12 year old should never play in a league where stealing is allowed. The confusing thing is that the leagues overlap age groups. Age 5-8 is Tball. Age 7-12 is Minors. Age 9-12 is Majors. Age 13-14 is Juniors Age 14-16 is Seniors Age 16-18 is Big League. Add on top of this whatever your local little league wants to change. You know, the coaches kid who just has to skip tee ball altogether and move up Juniors because he is so good.
  24. If Clements thinks he is the best and expects to be paid the best for a cornerback.... Good bye Nate, Good bye Nate, We're sorry to see you go. But at that price for a cornerback no way. That kind of money for a corner back could tie the teams salary cap hands for years. We would be much better off getting good corner who is not so costly and spending savings to improve another position. If as someone suggested we could sign him for top 5 money, that might work. But even that is alot of money tied up in one cornerback.
  25. The only thing new about these stories is that the media finally found out about them. It is a tragic story so it gets ratings. Therefore the news conglomerates give it coverage 7x24. The fact is millions upon millions of kids have never done this and won't. Unfortunately, news isn't driven by what the majority does, it is based on what a small but very vocal minority(ies) does. The best comment "Need to refocus children on sports and athletic activity..." That is one sure way to know where your kid is and what he/she is doing.
