  1. Another good addition to the competition. Maybe one more FA and a draftee would top it off. One of the latest mock drafts I saw had the Bills taking Hundley in the 2nd. That would be a very good addition. It would give us a chance to find a starter and a competent back and a development guy even though the QB possibilities are slim to none.
  2. A big receiver is certainly a need. The receiver corps is relatively small. Only one receiver over 6-2. It would be nice to have a big receiver 6-4 or 6-5 to run with Watkins and Woods.
  3. Yes. 6 of those 7 are irrelevant as they are ancient history in the NFL.
  4. Not worth it. Move to the second tier and sign someone there. Use difference in amount to help in signing someone at another position.
  5. Sign Hughes. A 2nd tier guard not Iupati. Too expensive not good enough to tie up that much money in a guard. Locker TE.
  6. I hope not. Iupati is a very good run blocker, but can struggle in pass blocking. Go find the next best guard and sign him. Take the savings between the two and help to sign hughes, another QB or a TE. We'd be far better off.
  7. I'm hoping the Bills bring in a FA and a draftee at QB. I don't think it would be a good idea to go into next season with Cassel and EJ competing for the starting job. The rook can go on the practice squad if he can't stay on the roster. Cassel, EJ and the FA can decide which one of them is the backup or gets released. EJ gets a chance but I think it is nearly a foregone conclusion that he is not the starter. Especially with the Bills spending a pick on Cassel.
  8. Can he? Maybe, but I highly doubt it. Will he? I highly doubt it. The Bills just traded for a QB. I'm thinking that indicates two things, The Bills brain trust don't think he can and if somehow Manuel and Cassell are equal the Bills braintrust will lean towards Cassell. If the Bills just wanted competition, they could have signed FAs. They actually took the time and resources to trade for the "competition".
  9. The Bills have surprised me two days in a row. The McCoy trade was a shocker. Couldn't believe what I was reading last night. Wasn't sure it was possible to trade a LB on IR for one of the best backs in the NFL. Then today I see the trade for Cassell as I sit down to lunch. Not as big of a trade but unexpected none the less. I don't know if either of these trades will work out for sure. At least the FO is trying and they aren't afraid to take some risk to do it. It appears to be a new way of doing business at OBD.
  10. Not a bad deal. Cassel is as good or maybe better than any FAs or Manuel. I'd still like to see them sign another FA (Locker) and/or draft a QB, but that's probably not going to happen. Cassel should easily win the QB competition but at least there will be one and may the best QB win it.
  11. Big two days for Buffalo! Sabres trade 4 attempting ensure the tank, Bills trade the legend of kiko for a top 3 RB McCoy and Joe B leaves GR for Ch 7!
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills bring in a veteran like Hill and young guy like Locker and have them compete for the starting job. The vet maybe starts the next year or two until the young guy is able to beat him out. Throw EJ in if you want although I don't think he has any chance of beating out either Hill or Locker unless there is an injury.
  13. I don't think McCown is any better than EJ and McCown has no upside. He is what he is. At least with Locker he's young, reports are that he has shown some above average play at times (yes he has injury issues) and has some potential to get much better. McCown will play one or two years and then the Bills are right back where they are now at QB. No viable candidates on the roster only those that "may" have some potential.
  14. While Buffalo has to find 2 QBs to bring in, let's hope Cleveland wins this.
  15. I'm hoping the starting QB is not on the roster. My fear is that it will be EJ not because he is the best available but because Whaley is trying to save face. I'm hoping they sign two FAs and draft a QB and let EJ compete with them. Unfortunately I don't think they can sign two meaningful FAs though. As soon as the first FA signs all others will stay away as they figure the Bills have their guy and no reason to sign here. Best case is probably sign Locker, draft Grayson (more likely Bridge) and EJ.
  16. In the mean time a very good, maybe great, defense is wasted. Who knows what the defense will look like in 2-3 years down the road. The Bills need to create competition and not treat EJ as the default #1.
  17. Since EJ is on the roster I'm sure he will get another chance. I don't expect much improvement from EJ. In 14 games he has shown the same problems that he showed coming out of college and with no improvement. It appears that he is what he is. While it's too soon to give up on EJ, I'm just hoping the Bills can get someone who has the chance to be much better than EJ. If EJs play doesn't improve and he is the starter, the Bills probably don't make the playoffs unless the defense and run game are absolutely dominating. I'd try to sign Locker as he and EJ can run a similar offense. Assuming that the relationship between Sanchez and Ryan is still good, I'd also try to sign Sanchez. Between EJ, Locker and Sanchez hopefully one separates himself and can become average at least. It is the key to the playoffs.
  18. The Bills might be better off to replace Goodwin with a receiver who can play special teams and run the twice a game fly pattern for 6 or 7 games a season. When the offense is this bad, one trick ponies like Goodwin may not make sense.
  19. Of the current personalities they have I'm holding out hope that they put Simon and Sal together for the afternoon show. I think they would be able to keep the talk interesting and interact with the callers civilly instead of the harassment that Schopp and White dish out on a daily basis.
  20. Any pre-emption of Rome is good. The clown's claim to fame is calling Jim Everett "Chrissy" long enough that Everett knocked Rome off his chair and went after him. Rome did nothing except assume the fetal position. It's too bad Everett didn't do more.
  21. If he can be had without giving up next year's first or a significant player (Dareus, Watkins, etc.), I would seriously think about it. It's all about what the Rams want back. He is probably the best option available for giving the Bills a chance to get to the playoffs.
  22. I think you have made EJs inadequacies a little too simple. No one play ever made or broke a players career.
  23. If any wide receiver comes cheap, maybe. The Bills have too many spots to fill on offense to spend more on WR. A team only needs to have adequate wide receivers to compete. An upgrade at TE would be far more important and obviously QB.
  24. Sal and Bulldog are at least somewhat listenable. I think if they found a decent partner for Sal the show would be much better. WGR much be happy with Schoop since he's still there. Besides look at all of the postings in this thread. As some say, there is no bad publicity.
  25. NO! Not Eichel! Worst QB in the college ranks. Can't play unless it's 32 degrees out or less, wants to go to the sidelines every 30-45 seconds or so, every so often will throw the ball into the kickers net. There has to be a better option.
