You are delusional if you believe this. The Allen contract, for example, is a completely different situation. It was an extension for starters, and yes they moved money down the road. In the case of Watson, there could not have been a more flagrant overt attempt to mitigate the risk of suspension. This was Watson minimizing his downside plain and simple, foregoing salary and bonus in year one for guarantees in later years. There was nothing usual about that contract. Everyone else in the world sees this for what it is.

I think this is precisely the normal approach of law enforcement. The courts operate under an innocent until proven guilty presumption, at least theoretically. Law Enforcement does not. I think what that officer is saying is normal procedure, despite the attempt of the defense lawyer to twist it.

I think this is exactly where Beane’s head is and rightly so. They need to get younger and cheaper at the safety position. Perhaps Beane has some sort of magic trick up his sleeve that we do not see, but I doubt it. Poyer has put him in a tough spot, but he should hold firm to the plan.

The Dolphins cheerleading in this thread is sickening and without merit in my opinion. Tua has proved nothing and is highly unlikely to take some magical big leap. He is far more likely to be at or near his ceiling. His accuracy is overrated given the limited route tree he has run successfully. He is not impressive at all as a leader, and has not shown the ability to think the game successfully at all. He has shown himself to be fragile and relatively easy to defend given his limitations. Tyreek Hill is not going to fix Tua's shortcomings. McDaniels may cover them up for a while. Speaking of McDaniels, I fail to see the merit of the hype. He is young and obviously unproven as a HC. His system is Shanahan's, and the WCO at its base is hardly ground breaking in its innovation in this day and age. He will have his hands full trying to shape that bunch into an effective, consistent, winning team. Nothing in his background suggests he is up to that task. Maybe he is. We will see. All that said, if the stars align and the Dolphins are suddenly twice as good this year, they are still not on the Bills level and would be lucky to win a game against them. I do not expect that. They are mediocre to me unless and until they prove otherwise. They have proven nothing yet obviously. I do think they are the second best team in the AFCE though, borderline wild card team even if Doogie Howser, Head Coach actually proves to be somewhat competent. So the Dolfans in Bills clothing gushing over the scary fish can flame away but I am going on record as being in total disbelief that the Dolphins are a legitimate threat.

I think Poyer is clearly last on that last in priority. Edmunds is still a young player, just entering his prime years. I do not see the Bills handing him top of the market money, but I do believe they want to keep him and will offer him a pretty fair deal. He is a five year starter, defensive captain, and defensive signal caller and despite Bills fan disappointments for various reasons, he is one of the better LBs in the league. He would not be easily replaced at all. Poyer on the other hand is closer to the end of his career than the beginning. This is a position they should be targeting to be younger and cheaper. If he sticks his feet in the ground on top of the market money and term, he will need to find it elsewhere. Whether he has been or is underpaid still is totally beside the point.

I will believe that Baltimore is a legitimate threat when they can demonstrate the ability to execute a modern NFL passing game against top opponents. They have not done so yet, and are down to scraps at WR. Until then, it is a defense first, run first team with a gimmicky QB who lacks downfield vision and ability to win consistently with his arm. I like the Chargers more than the Chiefs on paper but I am not sold on their Coach. Still, I think they take the West this year.

Your scenario is certainly possible. I, like the Bills I am sure, are hoping Hodgins or Stevenson can step up on the outside to make Kumerow totally expendable. I never want to see him playing receiver, and while he was good on special teams, they do not need both he and Jones. Teach someone else for crying out loud. Crowder and Shakir absolutely make the 53. I agree with MacKenzie in Blue but I think he sticks as returner and gadget guy. Stevenson needs to play WR to make the team, on the outside, in my opinion.

No, you really can’t. It is much too early to evaluate these players and the implication that they are busts this early in the process is misguided at best. The fact is you would be hard pressed to find a DE drafted in a similar time frame in a similar position who has out performed them. All three of these players by definition are projects at that position. The points seemingly being made in that article are BS at best.
