Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.
FLFan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good. That is all. -
Well it certainly would seem Star might not want to take the spring off if he wants to be on the team this year. Very interesting comment by the Coach.

I think you make a good point, but I also think it is more than that. Baker has always had a sense of self entitlement. I think generally there is an over abundance of that in our current social structure. Not sure of exactly how we got there, and I certainly would not assert that it is necessary representative of a particular generation, but I would assert that it is all too prevalent in today's society. Taking responsibility for one's own success and failure and actions seems to be a quaint anachronistic concept anymore. That is Baker in my opinion. Why not just recognize your part in the situation (he has played poorly after all) , keep your feelings to yourself, take the high road and work toward getting what you want. I really do not care how he "feels" about anything, but I do now think he a bigger jerk than I thought before, despite the fact that Browns behaved rather badly here as well. I am really happy he is not our problem as he will never be an adequate leader IMO.

He is not a great football player. He largely underperformed his first three years, had a big year in McD's rotation system in year 4, cashed in and proceeded to revert to form. He could be a useful rotational piece for the Bills in their system if he is motivated to play. That is his ceiling. Not great.

As usual, Belicheat the genius is playing 4D chess. We can’t possibly understand the depths of strategy.

Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million

Who cares? -
AZ cuts Jordan Phillips - now signed by Bills

Sure I do. Just not convinced that is what he represents. -

Why? -
This is a very low commitment for a guy with tremendous potential. If he can turn it around with the Bills he would be due a very big payday. Very good prove it deal for the Bills. Definite upgrade to what they have behind Knox.

You mean you might be wrong for once? -
Good for him, but I would rather have seen him on the Steelers.

Chandler Jones signing with Raiders - 3 years, $52.5 mill
FLFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Biggest money, close to where he has been playing, and Vegas is a bigger, much more happening city than Buffalo for a rich young athlete. By the way, the weather is also better. This was never going to happen. Pretty funny to watch the hysterics. My guess is they resign Hughes and go with the youngsters. -
Levi Wallace gone to the Steelers on 2-year deal
FLFan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
All people had to say about him year after year is they needed an upgrade at that position. It was time to move on, even at that price. That position will get fleshed out in the coming weeks and months. Another point here is that the Bills cannot, nor can any team, 1afford to pay significant dollars to every position. We are already paying two top safeties and a top CB, as well as the nickel CB. Gonna have to find a cost effective CB 2. I actually think Dane Jackson will be fine but they could definitely use a depth upgrade. Top three rounds priority in this draft, if not number 1. -
Harrison Phillips to Vikings, 3 year 19.5 million
FLFan replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. I don’t see that with Harry. Wish him well though. -
Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
FLFan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a cost effective replacement for Phillips. -
Sadly, it probably won’t.

Breaking: Tom Brady will play this year with Tampa
FLFan replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the least surprising news of the year so far. Drama queen. -
Interesting that OBJ was very productive when moving to a team with a real QB. Not sure Cooper qualifies as better. The lack of WR talent excuse continues to work for Lamar but it should be about dead with Baker. He is just mediocre.

In other words, they were confident a sucker could be found. I agree - never bet against that. Step right up Browns.

Khalil Mack traded to Chargers for 2nd and 6th round picks
FLFan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mack carries a cap hit of $17m plus this year, and $23m the next two years. For those people claiming Beane is asleep, what is your proposal to fit Mack on the Bills given those cap numbers? He played 7 games last year. He had 16 games the year before and produced 9 sacks. I would also be interested to know what about these incremental few sacks added to what is already a top defense screams enough difference to make the necessary cuts to somehow fit Mack under the Bills cap. The Chargers are a non playoff team that currently has room. Perhaps they see this as a move that will propel them to the next level. I would be surprised if that were the case. The next two years of his deal are ridiculously over priced as well. -
Not giving credence to the sourcing here, but I certainly expect that the Bills offer will be below market, and I expect he will get better offers. He is a decent role player but not worth overpaying. I think Zimmer, assuming he recovers fully, is actually a better fit.
-
I don’t think they are going to get him for a 7th or 6th as some have suggested here. Several other teams are being mentioned already including Browns, Jets, and Saints. That said, the possibility is still intriguing. Could simply be a matter of poor fit and bad coaching from frat boy Kliff’s staff that is the problem. Someone mentioned Murrays size as an issue as a joke but I would not discount that as an issue either. Superior coaching and a much better QB could possibly fix him. Just conjecture as I have not followed his career in AZ.
-
This is not a surprise. Beasley showed definite signs of regression last year. This is a position they should be looking to upgrade. If he will not accept a lesser deal to compete for a spot, adios.

Bills interested in signing Rob Gronkowski, per Tim Graham
FLFan replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently you did not see Tampa play late in the year and in the playoffs. A team without weapons. That is why they lost. You need to get past the easy stats and see how the team actually performed. They had a better receiving core with Godwin and AB but not even close without. Again, Gronk would be the fourth best option on the Bills. I am ok with it if they want to pay him appropriately, but he is no savior, nor do the Bills need one. Their offense is already one of the best in the league.
