There was nothing in Beane’s comments that indicate to me that he has any intention of extending Poyer. I suspect the plan was to move on after this year anyway. Beane does not seem the type to be held hostage by a player and his agent. He may make some completely team friendly, face saving offer, but Poyer is not getting top of the market money from the Bills. Hopefully they can find a way to avoid this becoming a major distraction, but I have my doubts with Rosenhaus and Poyer’s wife involved. I would hold the line personally and make him play out the contract he whined for two years ago.

He could definitely have OJ’s spot as far as I am concerned.

Bills - “Hey Stephon. Would you be will to play here on a legitimate Super Bowl favorite for a $5m one year prove it deal? No? OK, see ya.”

Since leaving Buffalo in ‘87 we have lived in Ohio, Albany, and Maryland so it is very nice to finally be in area with plenty of Bills fans. Shout out to the North Port Bills Backers, a great group, one of several Bills Backers chapters in the local area, where every game during season up to 80 rabid Bills fans will be found supporting the team and the community in our own room at a local bar with great wings and even better staff. This whole coast from Venice to Naples is definitely Bills fan friendly.

It does not matter. He is done with the Bills after this year in all likelihood.

Well, uh, I guess I was wrong.

This certainly seems like the end for Ryan "Rick" Bates.

I certainly understand your point, but I think we should get used to the fact that economics around the new stadium (and all new stadiums) are designed to benefit the owners of the business, not the fans. From the owner's perspective, fewer seats than potential maximum demand, each more expensive, is a better economic model. It benefits the team to have higher demand which restricted supply helps create. They can make more money not selling an extra 5 or 8k tickets to the general public by restricting the supply and increasing prices. The team gets the extra revenue (or at least a bigger %), not the ticket brokers. The figure being thrown out there is 50,000 target for season tickets, each carrying a seat license. That leaves only 10k seats for casual fans and demand will be very high. The price of attending a Bills game is going way up. Buffalo has been spared this until now, but it has been the way of things elsewhere for quite some time. Of course the team could collapse and the models with it, but then again an extra few thousand seats are not going to help them either.

During last off-season the Bills indicated that Bates would be the primary backup at C rather than the jack of all trades role they had him in before. That’s why Bates was last off the bench in the guard rotation after Ford, Williams, Feliciano, and Boettger. He did perform well in very limited action. It is pretty clear to me, however, that Beane and the coaching staff do not see him as the long term answer at C, hence the extension of Morse, and does not see him as a starter at LG, hence the signing of Saffold. It would also appear they certainly do not have him penciled in RG as a starter, or they would have tendered him higher. So the Bills value him as a good role player and hence the $2.5 m offer. I guess we will see who the better talent evaluators and team builders are, Beane and company or message board fan “experts”.

The fact that you repeat this thought in thread after thread does not make it any more of a valid point. The Bill”s were one of the top defenses in the league, by any measure, despite your nitpicking. The point being made by the post you responded to is that as few times as the Bills actually punt, any incremental improvement in punting is immaterial to actual results and not worth a serious expenditure of assets. This is objectively true.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]

I remember this one. It was classic. He has not really upped his game with his new identity. -

Check out the massive thread on this topic here. You will find many fans who agree with Chad and believe the sky has now fallen on the Bills. -
Beane should kick the tires on Stephon Gilmore
FLFan replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is a very nice way to put it. He avoided contact like the plague. He skipped training camp I believe. He also rarely practiced, milking mysterious injuries all year long. In short, he refused to do anything that might risk his payday, team be damned. He began the same act last year with NE, whining about his contract publicly, then hurt, and Billy Boy pulled the plug and cut him rather than deal with it. I would not want him back at any price, but especially as he clearly believes he should continue to be paid as elite. -

They are clearly better than the Pats and Jets on paper at least. Depends on their new Doogie Howser Coach. They are not real competition for the Bills. -

Hill would have to run backwards in order for a Tua pass to catch up to him. -
NE put a second round tender on their slot receiver. He will not be going there.

Beane should kick the tires on Stephon Gilmore
FLFan replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
His NE contract was front loaded. The reason he was let go there is he was whining that he was being underpaid. He clearly believes he should be paid as an elite corner. I am not sure he will get it, but I am sure he will go wherever the most money is. That will not be Buffalo, even assuming they would want him back, which I doubt. -
I am quite sure Beane is well aware of what he does and does not have on the roster, more so than the OP. Despite the panic around these parts the sky is not actually falling and the season is still six months away.

Harrison Phillips to Vikings, 3 year 19.5 million
FLFan replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
How I feel isn’t that Phillips never quite played up to expectations. He had moments and small stretches of games where he looked very good, but he he should not have been a priority at that price. Jones is better. The combination of Jones, Settle, and Jordan Phillips is a major upgrade to our DT rotation in my opinion.
