Russ Brandon named President/CEO
FLFan replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, even if Mr. Wilson passed tomorrow, there will be a very lengthy process to probate his will and distribute his assets, including the Bills. Second, there will likely be a rather lengthy competition on the purchase. On top of that, the NFL has a process for approving ownership changes, etc. This all could take at least 1 year but more like two years. At that point, new ownership could take over and clean house with their own executive team I suppose. However, by that time, if the organization is performing well, there would be no need or rush to dump an experienced executive, especially if his record of success on the business side is matched by team performance over the next two to three years. Transferring an $800 million plus asset takes a great deal of time and planning which will be greatly complicated by the transfer being after his death., Brandon will be around for quite some time. -
New Stadium on the Horizon?

No one said it puts us ahead. It takes away one potential negative, which makes it more attactive. -

New Stadium on the Horizon?
FLFan replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course there is a chance. In reality, the latest renovation is just putting lipstick on a pig. Long term survival of the team in Buffalo will require a new stadium at some point. By the time the new lease expires, the Ralph will be almost 50 years old. New ownership will almost certainly demand a new stadium. Whether the money can be found, and whether the disfunctional political environment in WNY and NYS can be overcome, will determine the long term survival of the Bills in Buffalo, no matter who the owner is at that time. -

As I said in my post, clearly some disagree. Your analysis however ignores coaching all together, overstates in some areas, and relies on the perfection of 20/20 hindsight on past drafts. A matter of opinion at this point, not facts. We will see if a coaching change can bring more out out of these players. Of course. Those who agree with you are objective. Got it. -

There is certainly disagreement about how well Nix has done in his job of building the roster and rebuilding the personnel side of the business. The failure to have a developmental QB on the roster by now is the biggest failure in my opinion. However, I do not buy into the logic of some posters here that Nix has been a failure. The roster is much better today than 3 years ago. The importance of today's announcement in terms of attracting a top coach cannot be overstated in my opinion. I suspect that knowledgeable football people around the league have a much different opinion of the Nix and the job he has done than many posters here. There has been valid concern that I have seen expressed about the Bills in terms of commitment, continuity, and the role of Mr. wilson in the decision making of the organization. I think this has been addressed. By addressing these negatives the Bills will be a more attractive situation. Continuity along with more streamlined decision making is the point of today and an important one in my view. -

I do have my facts right. You called PTR "pathetic" which was the point of the bolded line. Still waiting for your suggestions or specific rationale for why today's announcement was not positive. I have read all your bitches in this thread. -

Actually, what is pathetic is your insistence on criticizing others who want to express a valid opinion. Of course the proof is in the pudding as you say. However, hard to see today's announcement as anything but a positive development. While the towns folk with pitchforks were certainly hoping Nix would be fired as well, this would make absolutely no sense at this point in terms of attracting a top flight coach. Having control of the decision making resting in Buffalo with a committed executive team rather than an absentee owner who is clearly not on top of his game is what many have been screaming for. I have yet to see on this board any rational alternatives suggested. If you have some suggest them, but spare us the "hard bitten realist" act while condemning those who might look for the positive aspects of today's news. -
Buffalo Bills fire Head Coach Chan Gailey

Absolutely agree. I really wanted this guy to succeed. Unfortunately, it had become apparent that change was needed. Chan is a class act all the way. -
Levitre intent on shopping around for best offer - Sully
FLFan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are right on with this post, except the Bills did make offers to both Whitner and Poz, and according to reports at the time, the offers were very comparable to what they eventually received. Both wanted to leave. -

The Bills only have one tag. They are going to lose either Levitre or Byrd. Both would be crazy not to test the market and they will get better offers. -
Will the board implode if both Nix and Gailey are retained?

Please go cheer for the jags. Thank you -
Exactly. Pretty hillarious actually. Even more hillarious is the thought that Washington would trade him.

Why do we have to endure yet another Tebow to Buffalo thread? The Tebow man love will just not end, no matter the evidence. Completely irrational.

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/12/11/bills-marcell-dareus-overcoming-latest-in-series-of-tragedies Have not seen this posted. Good article on the Toronto Sun today discussing the struggles Dareus has had this year and his turnaround the past few games. I think it puts a little perspective on his performance this year vs. last and why those who are calling him a "bust" may be a bit pre-mature in their judgement of this young man.

The Bills should address QB in the draft if at all prossible, but you are dreaming if you think that takes Fitz out of the equation. Barring another Luck or Griffin level talent in this draft, which there does not appear to be, I think the chance of Gailey playing a rookie over Fitz next year are about nil. Unless Fitz gets hurt, or a franchise capable QB becomes available via trade or free agency, or Gailey gets fired, Fitz will be the QB. People need to start dealing with this reality.

Alex Carrington - Profootballfocus Secret Superstar
FLFan replied to DukeyBomb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. I am pleased to see Carrington making plays, but Dareus is the better player despite his slump this year. The player we saw last year in Dareus was not an illusion. He is talented and capable and I am betting he will rebound next year, despite the fact that many fans seem to have given up on him and want to call him a bust. -
Orton has had more than one shot to be a starter, in both Chicago and Denver. Not sure why anyone believes he is an upgrade. Moore has career back up written all over him. You might say "so does Fitz" but hard to see either of these guys as a better choice.

Gailey- Fitz is the guy for us- full quote in first post
FLFan replied to theesir's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What do you expect him to say? Cut his QB off at the knees in the middle of the season? How does that help? I doubt any of us has any idea what he really thinks. He is playing with cards he is dealt. Fitz is the best and only option on the roster for now. -
Very good point.

When do heads start to roll? Namely Chan, Buddy, Wanny, Fitz?
FLFan replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is highly unlikley that either Nix or Gailey are fired. Wilson seems very near the end. I think it is unlikley he wants to or is even capable of going through the coaching/GM circus carousel again. This team does have talent. It needs a long term upgrade at QB. It needs to address a couple of weak spots on defense. While it may also need a change at Head Coach, and I am really starting to lose faith in Gailey, I just do not see them taking that track this year, with so much of the team's future up in the air. Just the way it is I am afraid. I would not be surpised to see Nix step down for Whaley after the draft, nor would I be surprised if Nix tried to force some change in approach of the Coaching staff, but wholesale change is not coming no matter how loud the fans scream. Once the future of the team is more clear, whether in Buffalo or not, they will be open for business. Status quo until then. -

McKelvin is a free agent, as are Byrd and Levitre. I seriously doubt that Mckelvin is a high prioity for the Bills. He is only on the field at DB because of injuries. I doubt he will stay for what will likely be a fairly low offer, suitable to a return specialist and backup cornerback. He has had 5 years to prove himself at DB and has not. Williams is young, under contract, and has more potential.
