  1. Exactly. A trade guarantees a team gets the player, instead of having to compete with other teams. A trade is never out of question with Beane, especially when we have good depth.
  2. I’d prefer it to be more like last year honestly. Grabs like we saw against Diggs at Tampa for sure should be called, but I can’t stand the ticky tacky stuff. Let them play a bit. The main reason it annoys me is because there doesn’t seem to be a ton of consistency game to game (not just talking about Bills games only BTW). The obvious stuff is what should be called, like a Jersey being pulled away from the wr. Has anyone noticed that trend that some of the better wr’s have been getting good at “falling” after the db barely puts their hand on them? I believe Evans did this to us last year once or twice. I’m afraid we will see a ton of this s**t this season.
  3. It looked pretty natural in the video. These guys have enough going on, I doubt they are planning staged scuffles with a chance for a silly injury.
  4. How could you know if he did or didn’t do that to Kyler? That’s pure speculation. You’d have to follow Cards camp to even have a chance at knowing. The rest of your comment may hold some merit, either way it’s pretty much like nothing. It’s got to be hard to do their job when all of sudden the red no contact qb comes running at you.
  5. We lost Tre for the season last year. He is definitely a star player.
  6. I actually kind of like this. It adds more disparity and variety. I also like to see how teams navigate which qb’s to pay. I also things it’s cool to see the really good qbless teams pick up a good young guy and make runs (Seahawks). What else does having a high paid qb require? Good drafting. Staying on the top with top qb contracts requires help from many levels and most especially the qb himself. Hopefully Beane can keep it up on the drafting end, because we know Josh will (I believe in Beane btw).
  7. I think this is also a reflection of the, “culture” we hear so much about. The Bills get guys who want to win and understand if they truly want that, they have to be flexible with contracts, while still being paid their worth. It’s a fine balance for sure, as you said, Beane gets it don’t.
  8. Did you watch the video? It honestly sounds like you didn’t. There is a couple VERY specific examples of how him and Cook together can change how the defense defends our offense, you know, things that defenses did last season, that we know have two counters for. Also, Shakir opening things up for our offense doesn’t mean he is going to have a monster season, in fact, in the video Brett mentioned that a good year would be around 500 yards or so, but his value would be more so in relation to the rock/papers/scissors games that defenses and offenses play. Look how our offense evolved during the season last year. With Shakir we have someone who excellent at alot of different things, which means, it’s very possible our offense evolves during this up coming season in ways that incorporate Shakir, while keeping defenses on their heels. Lastly about late picks taking a long time to do anything, I’ll references Gabe’s rookie season. He contributed quite well, and right off the bat. If Shakir can provide something close to Gabe Davis year 1 production, while providing our offense with more versatility/counters, that’s good boost.
  9. Additionally, Austin came into the league right before offenses really embraced the pre snap movement/shuffle pass throws (think how we use McKenzie) that have become so popular, and that style suits his skill set. If Austin was just entering the league again, I think he’d see more success and be utilized more effectively. That doesn’t mean it will work out here though, but as you said, working with Josh Allen is about as good of a chance as he can get. Also, if you watch his interview, the guy has such a great mindset and perspective on football and his career. Great for the locker room.
  10. Shakir would be snagged off of the practice squad. That’s not an option if we want to keep him.
  11. Shakir is going to play an important part of the rock/paper/scissors game on offense, even as a rookie. Check out this analysis of Shakir. I didn’t realize he could do some work from the backfield. With him and Cook (plus the other weapons), our offense will be very hard to stop, because we will have counter moves all over, plus we have guys who can win 1v1 as it is.
  12. Dorsey would have to do some Urban Meyer type s**t to get fired that quick. If the offense struggles, he has to be given time. If the Bills management is going to have that short of a leash, you don’t make that hire in the first place.
  13. You’re also discounting Dion not being himself for the majority of the season. When healthy, he is the best player on our o-line and when he got better our o-line also did better last year. Sure he isn’t the sole the reason, but it’s also worth noting and not discounting as you did. It’s probably better to think of the additions we picked in regards to the end of the season o-line play. That was more in line with how our o-line should have played, and will play this year (+ the additions).
  14. Perhaps it comes down to something as simple as Knox vs Tremaine as far as resigning goes? Their costs should be pretty close. I’m sure Beane can find a way to keep both too, but at a minimum, it should be as simple as this.
  15. Just because you believe someone should say something a certain way, doesn’t mean they have to say it that specific way. There are so many subtleties in communication, everyone has their own style and flavor. You should never expect someone to communicate a certain way only. Here’s a question. Would it have been better for McCoy to say something much closer to the event? Does it look worse saying something closer to the event (and possibly more emotional messaging being so close to the event) or saying something a couple years later? For me personally, I see waiting to say something as the least sour grapes approach. McCoy didn’t come off as overly emotional about it all, and he was very coy about it all. I personally don’t see anything wrong with he how handled this.
  16. It’s pretty obvious McCoy is speculating why based off of personal experience. In addition, would it be unreasonable to suspect he may have heard some information either first, second, or third hand about reasons a team or two didn’t hire him? Bienemy has interviewed a lot and McCoy’s been around the league enough to have many league wide contacts. I don’t know why you are on such a crusade here. It’s not without reason to assume McCoy might know a little bit more than any of us. That being the case, his comment can’t simply be dismissed by a reasonable person.
  17. You know it is possible for him to be both bitter and telling the truth. As another poster said, we have all run into those people who are intelligent, but can’t read a room to save their life. People like this project different personas like quiet and passive, or aggressive and loud (like a bull in a china shop), really awkward, etc. We’ve all seen it from time to time. it’s very clear Bieniemy isn’t getting a job for more reasons than simply not being considered the architect of KC’s offense. Think about the info about Bieniemy from the Chiefs world (the one that was redacted). Even though it was redacted, where there’s smoke there is fire, and Shady’s comment just adds more smoke (not proof, but info that it may be true). If he really is the type that has some sort of communication issue, I’m sure it’s obvious to the interviewers during the coach hiring process, and more often than not, those traits are going to hurt being in a head coach position. In the end, we don’t know. But Shady worked with him, interacted with him, so he is going to know better than any of us, and he alluded to Bieniemy having some sort of communication issue. We also know he hasn’t been able to land a head coaching job. At this point, it’s hard to discount that there might be to this than him simply working with Andy Reid as an O coordinator.
  18. The OP and others like him need to read up on the Dunning-Kruger effect. Essentially, when someone doesn’t know a subject well, they think they know it all in regards to that subject. Then the more one learns, the less they believe they know about that subject, until they truly are experts in that subject and understand that they are. https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-dunning-kruger-effect-4160740
  19. Best season statistically? If so, what makes you say that? the Chiefs will continue to see 2 high looks, limiting the big plays, and now no Tyreek who was good for big time plays and thus big time stats. Of course Mahomes will play very well this season, but I believe it’s a stretch to think he will have his best season yet (statistically speaking). Perhaps best season as far as taking what’s available, moving the ball, and overall offensive success (as in points scored, not so much stats success). If that’s the case, I certainly can’t discount that. The AFC is loaded and the Chiefs have a hard schedule to go with their very hard division. Like many say, the Chiefs can’t be discounted, however, that doesn’t mean Mahomes is going to have his best year. I don’t think Mahomes has best statistical season this year, too much going against that.
  20. Consider this. With Levi our defense had to play to cover for him some. Now that we picked up Elam we will have two athletic outside corners (when Tre’s healthy). Perhaps if Bernard has some pass coverage limitations (Cover1 mentioned more about his deeper pass coverage abilities, like how Tremaine can cover the deep middle) but the two more athletic outside corners can allow the defense to cover a potential limitation from Bernard on some of the deeper stuff. Ultimately, like you mentioned about Bernard’s ability to be a mlb (green dot), perhaps this move was made to replace Tremaine after this season? Bernard is definitely the guy I’m most excited to see in training camp and pre season. Just to see how he is used and how he performs. He sounds like someone who will have a role year 1, even if that’s lb #3 and special teams.
  21. To add, it was a 2024 7th round pick. That’s like less than nothing. Chiefs can easily recoup that pick next draft too. One thing about the Bills not making a deal for this guy. Even though the Bills have done a great job at cb’s brought into the team, perhaps part of that reason is by being selective in who they choose?
  22. I like your point, and there is a good merit to it. However, Taron Johnson is no slouch (he’s becoming one of the best slot corners) and we would be taking him off of the field for a rookie. Also (I only heard the Cover1 guys talk about this), but it sounds like Bernard doesn’t have good hip movement which will hurt his ability to play pass coverage, and then combine that with this lack of top end speed, and it’s not even guaranteed he can vary a defender down the field. Bernards films shows him being at his best in either close to mid range, and shooting gaps with quickness and agility (good at avoiding blocks and not engaging). To me, this feels like a Klein replacement with some potential to give us more options in the 4-3 defense. We needed depth at lber and we got it. I’m curious how Bernard compares to Taron in a slot/big safety role, but Taron is damn good, and it would be alot to expect Bernard to take his starting spot during the season, and especially early in the season.
  23. We signed Saffold, matched Boettgers offer, and drafted two RT’s last year and there has only been 1 round of the draft. Chill! Our team is in good shape and let’s see how the draft shakes out.
  24. Allen in year 3 against the Raiders was injured while out of the pocket (but looking to pass, not run). Granted he finished the game and didn’t miss any games from the injury, but he was certainly hurt.
  25. Good point about possibly waiting until after the draft. It certainly seems Beane has made his price point clear and it’s a matter who takes it. Playing for a super bowl contender, even if making less than one wanted, has be a perk for some. About the rookie signing contributing to a Super Bowl win, I was being facetious. Basically, as long we win the Super Bowl this year, I’m good ☺️ But your right, our draft picks need to be made more with the future in mind. It seems like cb, rb, iol, and wr are the positions that have a chance of more immediate contribution to one degree or another. Question, assuming we don’t sign a vet cb (or atleast starter quality level) before the draft, does that make you want cb in the first over the wr’s you listed? Would you be willing to wait for a cb in the second/third or later? Personally, I don’t know. I’d be happy with a number of directions, we really are in a nice place going into this draft. I trust the wizard to make the right call.
