Week 11 Colts Week — predict the score

Bills 31 Colts 17 -
I don't think there was and it was one of those plays where it looked worse than it was. Also it was a play where the defender had already determined where he was going to make the hit and Knox had to reach backwards for the ball. Hard to say there was real intent there. I'm surprised it generated a fine. I understand the need to protect players and I am not one of those guys that thinks the golden era of football was when you could decapitate someone. However I really think they need to review these plays more closely. It's pretty common where the offensive player changes the strike zone at the last second. Yes it ends up a bad hit but it's not the defender's fault. It's fairly easy to see by replay if the defender's angle of attack would have been fine except for the WR or RB has now changed position.

NFL will be better off without dirtbag Kroenke

I hope St. Louis sees this through to the end. Communities need more power over these franchises. -

Same here. Generational pass rusher and we trade up for a WR in the most loaded WR draft ever -

All-22 Grades for Bills/Jets (The Athletic)

Yeah the coaches will never admit it but if Zimmer was healthy its unlikely Phillips would have dressed many more games this season. Maybe Tenn, Pats, and Indy who are run heavy but even then it would have been less likely -

Draft OL C/G in the first round. Safety in the second. 1 tech DT in the third. Bring back Edmunds but don't sign an extension Sign Juju Smith-Schuster in FA. -
Did the Jets game really prove anything????
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will take the click bait. The only thing it proved was McD can keep the distractions from affecting the players and he can get the team to regroup. Kudos to him. Really nice job. The real proof will be this weekend. Home AFC game against a good but not great opponent. Its a must win if they want to still get the #1 seed. A win keeps them on track. A loss and there is nothing to refute the narrative that the Bills can't beat the good teams. #1 defense needs a better showing than they had at Tennessee. -
I agree he is top 3 talent behind Reed and Moulds. But just as you discounted Lofton, Diggs has 5 years with Minnesota and 1 and a half with Buffalo. Reed was never best WR in the game becuase of Jerry Rice. He was in the conversation for second best frequently with guys like Tim Brown, Michael Irvin, and others. Hopkins, Adams, and Hill are great but still not in the class of Rice. Diggs will need 2 or 3 more seasons to surpass Moulds and 5+ to move past Reed. Knox is already the best physical talent to play the position in Bills franchise history. Agree 2 more healthy seasons and he will be the best ever, even if he will live in the shadows of Kelce and Kittle.

Recency bias.... While the safeties probably merit being in the conversation as will Allen and Diggs in a year or two, the rest have a lot of historical competition. There have been some very good LT's that played in Buffalo. I'm not convinced Dawkins is in the top 7 let alone top 2 or 3. Right now he is below John Fina and maybe on par with Cordy Glenn. As for Edmunds my opinion on him is well documented. Can he develop into a top 5 all time MLB for Buffalo. Maybe. But he has a long way to go. I don't even like Talley that much and I'd still take him over Milano. Bass is kicking lights out. And he doesn't have much competition. Christe was probably the best kicker Bills have had and Bass is more accurate and even a stronger leg. Let's hope he keeps it up.

I'm over Moss (didn't like the draft pick much in the first place). Moss breaks tackles but he is too slow to the hole. He is an effort guy that doesn't have the NFL skills needed to be consistently good. Give Singletary five more carries a game and give the rest to Brieda. Moss should not touch the ball until the fourth quarter when the defense is tired and we need to grind out some first downs to burn clock.

Jets sign Rachad Wildgoose off the PS
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can't recall for sure and I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think I had Wildgoose making the final 53. I had him over Taiwan Jones or maybe Gilliam. I would still choose that today. I would much rather have a developmental CB or safety playing special teams than a 4th or 5th RB. Consider the blowout this past week. He could have gotten some low pressure real game reps at CB or safety. Wish him well. -
Do you think a 4-3 formation could be a good one ?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Situation specific, yes. Taron is great in coverage and Edmunds is at his best dropping deep middle. In the 4-3 they are best if they play Klein at MLB and Edmunds outside. They did this a little last year down the stretch when Klein was playing so well. They also played Klein outside and Edmunds at middle too. I think Klein is a liability at OLB but holds his own quite nicely in the middle. -
I dont see the route running ability from McKenzie but to be fair, he hasn't really been given the chance to play WR. He is used as a gadget guy moslty so its hard to judge his WR skills. After a massive game last year against Miami, he disappeared in the playoffs when most of our WR group was hurt. That was really odd.
-
I hope they bring him back on a reasonable deal. Sanders us fast but Beasley is quick. He is an incredible asset and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. I don't see McKenzie filling that role. He doesn't have the hands or the route running ability Beasley has.

Never seen Josh under center so much
Ethan in Cleveland replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like Josh under center more too but didn't they set about every franchise offense record last year with Josh in shotgun a lot? Defenses adjust and maybe being under center more is a good countermeasure. I like the play action and it opens up a lot of options. But I also think the heavy sets with Bates and Sweeney lined up with Knox may have had more to do with run success than being under center. Being under center does have one draw back. It limits but not eliminates Josh running the ball. Like it or not the QB running the ball is the modern NFL offense. Can Josh be a pure drop back QB? I think so but he is most dangerous mixing in some well timed runs. Think of the first few drives against Tenn when Josh running hand throwing was executed flawlessly. -
Poor roster decisions still an issue with this regime
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FilthyBeast's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brown and Williams are engaged with blockers. And Breida is running an angle route. There is really only two possibilities here. Breida is either supposed to pick up the blitz and that is why Josh never looked to his right thinking he had adequate pass protection. Or Josh failed to recognize the free rusher pre-snap and should have hit hit his hot receiver. If Josh looks right and recognizes the blitz he dumps it off to Breida for a few yard gain. Sanders played really well yesterday too. Difficult choices. But a little more Davis on the filed makes sense. Kumerow should not be dressing for any games moving forward. Davis should get all his snaps. -
Poor roster decisions still an issue with this regime
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FilthyBeast's topic in The Stadium Wall
Klein should play MLB in the base 4-3 and when he does they should kick Edmunds outside. They should predominantly be in the 4-3 against Indy, the Pats, and maybe even New Orleans. The base offense should be 3 WR, Knox, and a RB. They should be in that set 80% of he time. 15% of the time they should go heavy with Bates at TE #3 and Sweeney at TE #2. 5% of the time it should be 4 or 5 WR sets. It's time to sit Kumerow for good. He isn't adding anything. Davis can block well and hell even Sanders blocked well this week. They should rotate Sanders, Davis, and Beasley an equal number of snaps. They all can line up anywhere. The punter is weak. Poor signing but at this point it's too late to make a change. Unlikely he is on the team next year. Pass rush - still not getting a consistent rush. Frazier sent 5 guys a fair amount against the Jets. Rousseau has not done much in several weeks. I don't think any one guy will make a difference. Best option is to keep up with a heavy rotation so guys are fresh and lean on Hughes and Addison in the playoffs. DT - Oliver is playing really solid football. DT takes a long time to develop and at this point Oliver looks to be at worst a high end starter for years to come. With Zimmer out, H. Phillips is getting a third chance at sticking with the team. I thought when he was a healthy scratch mid-season he would be gone next year. That still might happen but he will have several more games to prove he is worthy of a roster spot. -
A Few Thought about the Jets Game, in no particular order
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was in the club when AJ got that penalty. Even the Jets radio guys didn't think it was a penalty.
