Just get a punter and trade the rest of the picks away -

Agree! Now let's get them in camp and on the field. Draft status means nothing now -
Do the Bills have the best offense in the league?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dude I'm positive all the time. I just dont see everything the team or Beane does as great. Every GM has misses and he is no different. He signed a player that quit during the game!! He wasted second round picks on Ford and Epenesa. Those are huge misses. But he got Knox, Davis, Bass too!. I'm consistent or at least I try to be consistent too. Lastly I admit when I'm wrong, which happens rarely around here. I was on the Allen bandwagon before he was drafted. Half this board wanted to draft another QB after year two. I love Knox more so than many on here who complain about his drops. He's the best TE Bills have had since the merger. I've really praised Beane's last two off seasons. I think his free agent moves have been great. I thought getting Milano nad Williams back were great moves. Williams didn't work out but I'm not going to go back and say it was a bad move when I thought it was a good move. I criticized him for not making moves during the season to get the defense more help. Maybe he tried to get Miller. Maybe he didn't. We won't know the whole story. I've agreed with his 5th year option decisions even with Edmunds. I've also been consistent in my doubts McD can get us a trophy. I posted that before the 2021 season as an answer to a thread about the biggest worry going into the season. Those doubts sadly came true in KC. I hate the emphasis on special teams for roster and game day decisions. That said McD has gotten better at being aggressive especially before the half, his players love him, and even his challenges got a little better last year. Beane basically implied that in his press conference -

I think you grossly overestimate the importance of WRs. QBs make the WRs better not the other way around. Yes if Diggs or Davis got hurt it would change the offense but it would not cripple it. They will already be a more balanced offense this year with more two TE sets and more play action. Knox is going to be an absolute beast this year. The only issue player wise is the OL. Beane has taken some nice steps here but there are still quite a few variables. -

Which one of those guys can call the defense when it matters? -
P, OG, S, trade all the rest away for picks next year.

Slept on it and I hate this pick even more -

The OL has multiple question marks. Brown wasn't that great at RT. Saffold is old. Morse had a nice bounce back year but has mostly been average. No depth at OT. Ford is a bust. Boettger wasn't good before the injury. They should have drafted OL before RB and certainly before undersized LB. -

Not true. No one had an issue with him going in the first round -

Tre was a consensus 1st rounder. This guy is an undersized LB that will be lucky to replace Matakevich. -

It's an awful special team pick. He will be lucky to get snaps on special teams. Waste of a third round pick. Should have been OL. -

So to recap we got a CB, a RB, and an undersized LB, two 6 round picks and gave up a 4th. Wow. Pretty underwhelmed. Elam will start. Cook makes up for Moss mistake. And this Bernard looks like he is destined to play special teams. -

If true snag him now and stash him on IR so they can let Edmunds walk next year -

Just got off the plane in Newark heading to Manhattan What did I miss? -
Not an easy task indeed....Especially when you keep the same coaches that cost us a SuperBowl...sorry I could not resist Beane has had a great off-season. Love almost every move. If they do not get a WR in next two rounds, I would bring back Sanders. I would bring back Hughes too. Hopefully add OL, new punter, and another DB in the next two days.
-
Assuming they stick with Edmunds in 2022, I am hoping OL and WR with the next two picks. I'd be fine with adding another DB but I'd choose a safety over a corner. If you assume Tre is back then you have two first round corners, a very good nickel and depth with Dane. Siran Neal is a special teams guy that should not have even been re-signed but whatever. Adding a safety for possible replacement of one of our aging safeties makes sense.

Interesting and good post. Beane has had an up and down track record with middle of the draft picks. Epenesa and Ford are 2nd round massive busts. Moss may be as well. H. Phillips was at best serviceable. Knox and Davis however are stars. Singletary is fine. Bass looks great. And Basham and Brown look ok but are mostly too soon to tell. Probably no better or no worse than any other GM.
-
Agree. Get any OL next. You can make an argument for C, G, or OT as immediate needs. As it stands now Bates is your starting G and the backup C. Swing OT is an issue. I prefer they draft OT than can play some guard if needed. But any OL fills a need.
-
I think many myself included are making a bit too much about giving up a fourth round pick to move up 2 spots. The issue will be finding decent cheap depth players in the next few years. A fourth as many have said is not make or break. But he sure would be a lot less expensive than Siran Neal or an AJ Klein type player in the next few years. I have no issues with the player and had Beane waited and gotten him at 25 some would be calling him a genius for letting the draft come to him. In the end for the immediate future Elam fills a massive need. On to day 2 and hopefully some help for Allen
-
Epenesa and Ford were probably loved too and they are busts. I'm moving on. I've been on record they need to be all in this year. They got a desperately needed CB. Hell if Beane drafted another DB tomorrow I'd be fine with that too.
-
Or you could say he gave away a fourth round pick for a player that is no more likely to be star as the next 5 CBs to be drafted. At the end of the day, he filled a huge need.
