Bills Steelers pre-season game either in 79 or 80. I believe it was 80 after they had won their fourth SB. While trying to find the preseason schedules for those years, I found a you-tube highlight film of Bills Steelers 1980 regular season game in November. Van Miller was great calling the game and as the Bills clinched the win, he states the Bills have arrived. It would take a couple more weeks and a win over a young Montana and the 49ers to clinch the AFC East. Also found that highlight film on you-tube.

Miami trading Shaq Lawson to Texans
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He could have signed Lawson and cut Murphy. Bills would have gotten similar production and spent less money in total. The downside would have been a longer commitment to Lawson then he made to Addison - of course Lawson being years younger though -
I'm a physician working on the west coast and have been rounding on weekends for over 20 years. Every turn in the rotation for me to work a Sunday I usually would have the score leaked to me by someone in the hospital. Most of the staff knew my passion for the Bills and without fail there was usually someone telling me they looked good or bad. Sometimes the games would be on the TV in the patient's room too. I gave up long ago trying to keep the outcome unknown. I don't recall the exact game, but I watched the entire 4th quarter with a patient in his room. Just sat with him chatting and watching the game. Bills won. I remember that part but not any of the details of the game.

Restructure a couple of deals, tender Wallace, sign Bojo, and make a play for Kyle Rudolph. Then sit back and wait for the draft.

Miami trading Shaq Lawson to Texans

McD messed up playing Murphy over Lawson. Beane spent more on Jefferson and Addison and got similar production. Lawson had 4 sacks last year which isn't great. Murphy was a healthy scratch for a decent chunk of the season and had 2 sacks all year. That is only 1 behind Addison and 0.5 behind Hughes. He would have been third highest of all Bills DL in sacks. All in all the Bills are probably better off in 2021 without Murphy or Lawson's contract. Beane needs to find another young edge to go along with Epenesa. -
Bills re-sign Feliciano
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills same O-line never played a single snap together all year. Ford will be back and be better. -
Easy answer is they can not. If you look at the OPs post a little different, you can get to one of the issues with the CBA and dead cap space. It makes trading players more difficult. It would be more interesting if the cap hit went with the player. It would allow a little more movement of players. Or if there was a way to trade picks for cap space.

Cam About To Re-Sign With New England
Ethan in Cleveland replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NE had the most number of COVID opt outs and has a ton of cap space. The only thing holding New England back is Belichick's brutal draft record. -
My off-season plan
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm doing ok so far. I had Williams signed and Morse taking a pay cut. Also had cutting Jefferson and keeping Butler. I would have restructured Brown and let Addison go but I can live with what Beane has done. The only big difference is I did not think Milano was coming back. I think this means no other significant free agents will be signed. On to the draft... -
Breaking: Daryl Williams signs 3 year extension
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My offseason prediction had Harris drafted at 30. So yes I can see that happen. But this regime likes their own and I suspect they want to give Singletary and Moss another year. They need to draft a true NT to replace Star in 2022, two edge players, and a LB in with four of the first five picks. -
Breaking: Daryl Williams signs 3 year extension

Wow. Great move. Let Feliciano walk or see if you can bring him back untraceable. Just draft 4 front 7 defenders, a TE, and a DB that can return kicks -
I guess I'm ok with this. Mid-season I posted it would be better to keep Milano than Edmunds so I won't back track too much. It's an ok move but does nothing to solve the pass rush issues. It eats up a little cap space but is one less hole to fill in the draft. I'd still want Williams back over Milano but the dollar figure for Milano is not too bad. Just difficult to get too excited knowing that they need to get better not stay status quo on defense. But I also know they have FA and the draft to get better so I am willing to take a wait and see approach. Beane at least did the right thing with Butler and Jefferson. Now I say cut Addison, sign Thuney and draft OT and 4 front 7 defenders.

Who's your pick for a breakout season?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BruceVilanch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. Most physically gifted TE Bills have ever had. I just don't know how much Daboll will use him. I'd almost prefer he gets 700 yards if the RBs are also getting a ton of receptions. Full disclosure my favorite Bills player is history is Thurman Thomas and I think RBs that catch out of the backfield are the ultimate weapon. -
The rest of the world you can work for 30 + years. These guys have a very limited window. And you can not fire people who were inured while working. There are workplace rules for that in almost every industry but NFL gets to play by different rules. I don’t want the MLB or NBA fully guaranteed model where you can't cut guys for poor play. But there should be more protection for guys that are cut while injured. Even something as simple as the team must still pay them but does not affect the cap until they can play, play for another team, or truly retire.

The NFL players union is an absolute joke. Both of these players injured while playing now are without a job. Say all you want about these guys earing millions for playing a game, it is still a business. That they can just cut a guy with a valid contract who was injured while playing for your franchise is terrible. People on this board routinely tear into players for holding out for new contracts and guaranteed money. This is why they do it. Both of these guys are model players in every respect for that organization and they are just let go.

Knox. He will reach 60 reception for 875 yards and 6 TDS. Ford is the other guy. If they let Williams walk don’t be surprised if they sign Thuney and move Ford back to RT. -
Trade or cut has the same effect on the cap
