  1. Josh seems like a great guy. But be careful of hero worship for people we really don't know. This is the same guy that tweeted at a young age "If it ain't white, it ain't right." To his credit he owned up to the offensive tweets. He has done nothing in Buffalo but be a model citizen and near perfect face of the franchise.
  2. I think Donald has already earned that distinction. If your all NFL team is a 4-3 defense then your starting DL would be Reggie White, Aaron Donald, Joe Greene, and Bruce Smith. Second team for me would be Deacon Jones, Randy White, Warren Sapp, and probably JJ Watt or Leroy Selmon.
  3. It's like comparing Superman to Batman. Donald is all world and Oliver is still great but he can't match the physical gifts Donald has.
  4. Hoping for the best. As long as it is not a bicep tear, even with surgery he probably is back before mid-season. Dislocated elbows or even a broken bone heal faster than torn muscle/tendon.
  5. Bills were the better team week 1 last year too, but still came out flat. It's a road non-conference game so it is a little less important than others to follow. Still it is national spotlight and a win on the road against SB Champs would be a huge boost to start a brutal first 6 weeks.
  6. I don't think nor hope they just use him exaclty as they did Hughes. He is too good rushing out of a 2 pt stance. However, for the most part he will be just like Hughes as the fourth DL in the nickel package, rushing the passer. That is why he is here and what he needs to do better than Hughes did. I would like to see them run some more 4-3 with Von as a stand up OLB with a combination of Rousseau, Lawson, and Basham rotating as the DEs. As for dropping back in coverage, yes he will do that from time to time. Every defense in the NFL has DL guys drop in coverage from time to time. McD and Frazier are no different. They drop DEs and DTs rarely so they can blitz other guys off the edge like Johnson and Poyer. What will be interesting to see is they lined up Edmunds as a 2 point outside rusher 1-3 plays a game last season, and let Klein or Milano play MLB. Will they still do that? Will they sit Milano and or Edmunds a few snaps a game to let Miller pass rush with a DE in front of him ( effectively forcing the opponent to block him with a TE or RB)? While McD and Frazier are conservative I dont think they are unimaginative. Most opponents and commentators talk about how the defense is difficult to read. My guess is they will experiment with several things and at the same time keep him fresh for the playoffs. They have solid depth on the DL, there is no reason to overuse him early. Let the young kids bang away on the run situations and bring in Miller on 3rd and long.
  7. Excellent pass blocker and tough. I have him making the final 53 over Duke Johnson though Johnson does have a career 4.3 YPC (4.6 last season). I hate keeping special teams only guys but if you keep one, then I would keep Jones over Kumerow. That means you keep one less RB and one more WR.
  8. Hope so. Lawson was so much better than PED Murphy but has not done much since. AJ has a few weeks to impress, but my hunch is he gets traded for a conditional draft pick in a few weeks. He is terrible and if Ford plays better with Kromer, AJ goes down as worst Beane pick. Still looking like Ford is a complete bust so far though.
  9. Agreed. Winning four games in that manner is an accomplishment. The fact they had so many games with a negative turnover margin is concerning. The pass rush should be better and that generally leads to more turnovers. And Josh needs to clean up the INTs.
  10. 11-6 with this years schedule is not unreasonable. The #1 defense was a farce last year and it showed against KC. It was a product of the QBs they played. But to Beane's credit he at least on paper upgraded the DL and added a top rookie corner. I'd be happier if they signed Haden as well. 12-5 or 13-4 seems like a more likely outcome than 11-6 but I would not be shocked if they lost 6 games. A lot will be determined how they handle the pressure of the first six games.
  11. No but in the court of public opinion it is. The personal conduct policy does not require any legal action. He committed these acts. There is no doubt that he did. First the grand jury let all these women down, and now he gets away with what almost $200M guaranteed??? Like others gave said I'm outraged and disgusted. I'm thankful he is not on the Bills. However, this situation will not changing my viewing habits of the Bills and the NFL, so I'm just as complicit in this as most fans.

  13. But yes he can. Not sure what you have been reading but he still gets final say
  14. They are no longer alleged. He settled with every one of these women. You are correct the legal system let everyone down but there is no question of him committing these disgusting acts.
  15. Goodell can certainly suspend him indefinitely. We don't know what he will do yet.
  16. 15 min of playing time missed for every assault. Unbelievably low. Nice message sent. You can assault four women and only lose one game check and none of your signing bonus. Unreal. Josh Gordon lost multiple seasons for alcohol. At this point they would be better off having no personal conduct policy. They can't seem to ever get it right. Goodell should at least double it to force the union to defend this scum of a person.
  17. Ridiculous take. Coaching is primarily what prevented a SB win last season. Its a team sport. Coaching, special teams, and defense let all let Allen down.
  18. Unless he goes over 1000 rush yards and 400 receiving yards I just can't see them keeping him. Priorities are Knox and Oliver this offseason and Davis next offseason. Me personally I let Singletary walk. I would then tag Edmunds to get one more year of decent but not spectacular MLB play without a long term commitment. I think Milano will be the prime target for salary cap cut this next off-season, regardless of what they do with Edmunds contract.
  19. No way they carry 4 TEs. If I'm McD I go with Knox, Howard, and Doyle or some other backup OT. Cut Gilliam. I have no idea why he is on the roster. He does nothing well. He doesn't block well, he doesn't catch well out of the backfield, and he doesn't pass protect well. Their should be no roster spot for a FB unless they are a special talent, which he is clearly not. As others have said they need to reserve a few roster spots for special teams and backup OL.
  20. If Doyle has to play they should just start Barkley to protect Josh from permanent harm
  21. I didn't say tougher. Reed wins that contest hands down. He took shots and kept coming. Also agree he changed how WRs were used..But he didn't muscle away defenders like Irvin did.
  22. Irvin was bigger stronger and faster than Reed. Reed played longer and had more receptions. Irvonus scored more TDs. Both are HOF worthy but slight edge to Irvin. I think Emmitt Smith is both overrated and underrated at the same time. I think backs like Thurman, Tomlinson, and Faulk are so much more dangerous than a more straight ahead guy. But as pure runners go, the guy put up a ton of yards going against NFC defenses. Yes Dickerson was faster and Brown more powerful, but Smith had great vision, very good lower leg power, set up blocks well, and and just enough speed that he rarely if ever was he caught from behind. That said if Sanders doesn't retire Smith's legacy drops a notch.
