I have no idea what he would get paid, or if we can afford it with our tight cap room. But hell yes, I'd love to have him on this team next season. What Bills fan wouldn't? He is EXACTLY the sort of thing we desperately need: an elite No. 2 receiver so Diggs doesn't have to do it all and Josh has more bodies to find out in the field.

Sometimes. Way too inconsistent to be regarded as a valuable player IMO.

Bills sign S Zayne Anderson to a 2 year deal
Nextmanup replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know McDermott said we need to copy KC but this is a bit ridiculous. -
Wrong take. I would say there is no way in hell he was going to go anywhere THIS season, but he could be in very hot water as early as next season. It all depends on what happens and how things look. I think we are definitely in for a regression next year from this year, which in itself is another regression from a few years ago. We are going backward. It depends on how that looks, how much that accelerates, and what are the circumstances surrounding our season next year. Ultimately, this sort of thing hinges purely on what Terry Pegula thinks, and he's an idiot. So who knows what will happen. I'm a super huge Sabres fan and have followed his actions very closely for a long time with THAT organization. He's the worst owner in the NHL, most likely. He seems to have gotten lucky at the moment with GM Adams, and Adams has hired a really solid HC...drafting has been great...but Pegula remains the lowest information sports fan you've ever heard of. How long will it take for Pegula to realize "Maybe McDermott isn't the guy?" Who the hell knows, but McDermott could and SHOULD be in very hot water, as soon as next season, if the season looks a certain way. Then again, we COULD win the SB next YEAR! But to suggest McDermott is hired for life, is, I think, ridiculous.

I know what you mean, but the answer is kind of simple. Some time, probably just after the KC game, we kind of went into a funk of sorts and were not playing close to our best football--yet still won a ton of games. Expectations were for a Super Bowl appearance or victory, but we deteriorated as the season went on. We emerged in the playoffs against a depleted Miami team with a 3rd string QB, at home, and barely won the game. We then played the Bengals, at home, and got humiliated. Season over. That's why there's a bad taste in your mouth. Ultimately, we underperformed and the season has to be considered a letdown or failure. Luckily we should get a bunch more swings at bat, until Josh gets old.

Rex Ryan emerging as favorite for DC in Denver?
Nextmanup replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is intended as a joke, obviously. What if that duo had prepped for the Bengals game and called plays during the game. Would the outcome have been any worse? The one thing I didn't like about our D under Rex was his system was TOO complex and it seems to confuse players on the field, and it required, at times, big DL-men to drop back in pass coverage, which seemed idiotic to me. Overall, I bet their performance would be about the same. -
Random Interesting Charts/Pictures of various things
Nextmanup replied to Big Turk's topic in Off the Wall
Seeing as this thread is about "pictures of various things," meaning effectively, "anything," I thought I'd post this as I find it interesting. This shows German soldiers some time after June 1941, somewhere in Russia most likely. The sign reads: "Here begins the (swear word for buttocks) of the world." -
It could go the other way around. The older folks from the "old" system are TRUE stars, with huge names. And then when they die it's news. 40 years from now most of the big names you are referencing will have been long forgotten, because they aren't stars.

Yeah, it's probably not going to happen. But it's still fun to watch games on the assumption that it will. It definitely CAN, and after this many years of total garbage, this situation is a breath of fresh air! At least we are a lot of fun to watch, and on good nights look like the 1985 Edmonton Oilers, at least in terms of wild, fun, defense-be-damned playing style....which ain't gonna win a Cup, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Team needs to learn how to play much tighter, more responsible, structured defense. But that will come in time. They are all still babies.

Michael Irvin Removed from NFL Network Superbowl LVll Coverage
Nextmanup replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your friend sounds like a real loser. -
This made me laugh. Hopefully everyone has a disposable income. I think you mean whether or not he has a limitless disposable income, or a high disposable income. "income remaining after deduction of taxes and other mandatory charges, available to be spent or saved as one wishes." *This is intended to be educational, not mocking.

How Billsy.

I thought he was a good color guy; at one time I think he was regarded as the best in the business. He did a lot of WS over the years. Don't remember him as a player.

What are some good, easy meals my wife can’t screw up?
Nextmanup replied to Einstein's topic in Off the Wall
If your wife is asking that, she's probably not much of a cook, in which case it doesn't matter. My advice would be for BOTH of you to learn how to cook, and then you can make 10,000 great meals any time you want. I'm guessing she grew up in a house with a mom who couldn't cook. It tends to go that way. I'm lucky have grown up with an Italian mom who is an AMAZING cook and we ate extremely well as a family for years. I learned how to cook from her and developed a passion for it... But you aren't going to learn how to do it with a thread at a football forum. Take some cooking classes; read some books; start watching cooking shows and pay attention. -
First, he IS a jock sniffer, by nature. He likes to think he is a part of the team and he gets off on that. But he already IS hired by the Bills. His sideline reporting on the radio during games is paid for by the Bills. He would not say anything bad about the team, however, because of who he is--a guy from Buffalo who grew up loving the Bills; bit of a conflict of interest for someone who is supposed to be a "reporter" on GR-55...but that's the world we live in now.

Great post! As someone who listens to GR-55 quite a bit, I have to strongly agree with everything you are saying here. I like Mike a lot more than most here do, but what I notice about him is that he actually has an anti-social edge to his broadcasting. He assumes a confrontational stance against most callers, most of the time, by nature. A few days ago, a caller called in and started by saying "Hi, this is ____ calling from (whatever geographical location in the USA). He then stopped with an awkward pause, delaying the show; this annoyed Mike. He immediately snapped back in a very annoyed tone: "That's fine; you can be from wherever you want to be; we don't care; you can be from wherever you want; what's your comment!" It was just very snarly and I was like "God man, calm the F down!" I get that we do NOT need to know the guy's name; and we do NOT need to know where he's from; we do NOT need to know that this is the first time he is calling, and every caller definitely does NOT need to ask the guys how they are doing! But gosh Mike, calm down a little. About just a quick: "Thanks, what's your comment?" NOT talking over fellow broadcasters is Broadcasting 101. Do these kids on their air go to broadcasting programs at colleges anymore? I thought they all tended to come from Buff State.

Better Call Saul - final season April 18,2022
Nextmanup replied to davefan66's topic in Off the Wall
Mike would just set up some clever scenario whereby he didn't have to fight! He'd out-think Hank and kill him when he didn't even know it was coming. -
With our losing skid, it is pretty important to win tonight. Another loss and it's not going to look so good. I just hope the guys have some jump and are not too distracted with the sunshine and weather.

I can still remember in the very early days of the internet, big companies would offer financial incentives of some type if you did business with them through the website instead of traditional channels. It was like they were forcing people to explore this new medium. I can remember looking at a lot of websites in the '90s and thinking "What is the point of this? There's nothing really here."

A truly gorgeous, sexy woman in her youth. She aged very well too.

I wouldn't use the word "dismantle" but we are going to see some of this, don't worry. I can see Poyer and Edmunds both going, maybe more big names as well. Then again, I am afraid they are REALLY committed to making Edmunds work...so God only know how that will play out. Some are talking about him making mega money. I pray to God we don't sign that guy for a huge K.
-
I think the word on the street is $13 million per; but maybe we can get that down seeing as the way last season went down with no one signing him, Dallas seemingly disinterested, and so on. Maybe there are concerns about his current health status or fitness level. Not sure I'd pay him more than $10 mil assuming he would take that. A 3 year deal might get it done, I don't know how much interest is truly out there in him.
