Will anyone admit to enjoying watching soap operas on TV?
Nextmanup replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
I definitely don't enjoy watching soap operas on TV. Haven't thought about them in probably 30 years. A number of big time actors/actresses have come up through the ranks via soap operas. -

Favorite quotes from your favorite stand ups

I absolutely love George Carlin and you could quote his entire body of work as some of the all time great comedic clips! Having said that, I was just watching a video the other day in which he was going off on how big and fat Americans are. He has that impeccable timing and says something like "Some of these people are so fat you actually have to stop and ask yourself...[dramatic comedic pause]....how does this woman take a S***?!" Pound for pound that is as good as anything he ever said; it's so vintage George from the subject matter, the societal critique, the raw language, and the brutal directness of the whole thing. -
The series feels like a Vegas win, with the only question being will Florida sneak in a win. I hope I'm wrong! I'd like to see a better series too. There should be some good energy in the building tonight.

We finally have a game again tonight. If Florida is going to win one, it will be tonight. But they may very well lose, too. Not sure how to read the game. I think Vegas is way too strong for them.

NFL.com ranks the most "complete" teams in the NFL; Bills at #6

Almost no one around the league has us at 4 these days. More like 6-8. I hope you're right though! -
Sorry to hear this!

You may not like him, but to dismiss him as a blowhard is ridiculous. He's one of the better guys in the country doing that type of work. Can you possibly imagine anyone at WGR-550 investing that level of research and preparation into on air segments? The Gr-55 guys, Sal C. at the top of the list, are blowhards. There is a reason why Cowherd went from a regional talent in the Pacific NW to a huge national name. You don't have to like him tough!

You need 2 or 3 of those guys; not one. -
Former first round picks on our defensive line

Is this based on anything other than willful optimism? -
All the biggest problem with the team heading into last year's post season, and none of it has been rectified to date. We didn't greatly overpay an underperforming DT however.

He's also a million miles away from being the "generational talent" he was advertised as, pre-draft. I recall arguing with Sabres fans over at Sabrespace in Eichel's/McDavid's first season, and I mentioned the gap between the 2 is HUGE. Needless to say the masses came after me arguing they are the same player. LOL. I have Eichel somewhere around the 10th best center in the league. If he was Canadian, and the Olympic team went back to using NHlers, Eichel wouldn't even make the team.

I think MOST around here would say "YES!"

Are we already in McDermott apologist mode?

What’s up with Gambling int he NFL amongst NFL Players?
Nextmanup replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've stopped listening to GR-55 in the afternoons b/c the show has become very gambling focused. I have no interest in gambling or sports gambling, and don't consider "sports gambling" to be a mainstream category of "sports talk." You can already see where this is going; in 10 years there will be no dividing line between "sports talk" and "gambling talk." I guess that's when I move on to other things. If/when it gets bad enough, and the league decides they need to do something about it, they'll make an example of a bunch of guys. It's all politics. -
I was going to write something similar; I can't imagine not being intimately familiar with the status of your balls, at all times. I'm guessing the OP doesn't tend to the shrubbery down there. That's gross.

How will the defense be different this year?
Nextmanup replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Might be the future of the game. The field should be full of big guys on the line or little fast guys in pass coverage. This hybrid LB concept is becoming dated. -
Love to see the universal praise/support for McClappy slowly eroding from this forum. More will follow after another failed campaign this year.

Or maybe not. -
Had his head down. He deserved to be blown up. My God I love Tkachuk!

Great post. In no way is he worth extending; he's undersized at this level, always has been, and always will be. The fast small DL concept worked in college football in the '80s and '90s...That crap has no place in the modern NFL. I would have 330 pound lard asses up and down the line and tell them to simply not let anything go through them. Put the talent a layer deeper..

Skip the pass rush stuff; it doesn't translate enough to wins and losses. Protect the QB? Hell yes. I'd spend every dime on offense and just look to be league average at every position on D. No pass rusher has ever won a championship for anyone.
