  1. OK---WGR-550 has been playing this music in the background when they are coming back to the show from breaks. I have been listening to it for several months and it is driving me crazy as it is right on the tip of my tongue, but I can't place the song. Sounds very '80s to me. They played it in this segment starting at the 21:50 mark for about 40 seconds. Jerry Hughes is talking and the music is playing in the background. What's the music?! Thanks in advance. https://www.radio.com/wgr550/podcasts/schopp-and-bulldog-20261/01-15-hr-3-schopp-and-the-bulldog-354684361 EDIT: LINK CORRECTED
  2. Neither is anyone else contributing to this thread.
  3. *humorous* *too serious* humerus is a bone.
  4. I'm much more concerned addressing the defense in terms of changing things up from how we defended them in the first game. I have no doubt McDermott and company are going to do things differently and that they learned from the first match up. I also think we are a much better team than we were when we played them.
  5. It probably is; would that brief disruption result him in not knowing where he is and completely losing his balance for quite a while? NO.
  6. What probability of playing is assigned to Mahomes in that predictor, or does it simply assume he definitely plays? If he's out, it's gonna be a lot higher than 53% in Bills' favor.
  7. Thank you! You and I are apparently the only ones bringing this little detail up. They can lie all they want about how he get got into the protocol, but if he's in it, he's in it. And he will have to adhere to its guidelines. KC can still fudge his progress and clear him to play after Stage 5, but the independent neurologist assigned to the team has to still clear him beyond that. He also has to move methodically through all the stages of the protocol. In theory, there is no way he should be practicing as normal on Wednesday, for example.
  8. There is no way to say how well he is doing or will be doing. He clearly had a concussion IMO. So, he could be feeling fine today, wake up tomorrow, and be depressed and dizzy all day long. His symptoms could remain constant, or be sporadic, for months. Or not. I quoted a study done in another post that said the median time out for a QB on the protocol was 7 days, as measured over a 4 year period of time I believe. That's the median, so it means some were shorter but some were much longer than 7 days. How about the independent neurologist who has to clear Mahomes after the Chiefs say he is OK? How does that figure into your analysis?
  9. Ironically, that game also involved a concussion of KC's QB. We knocked Montana out of that one with a sack and hit to the head. Remember the game very well. That was a long time ago!
  10. First of all, it doesn't work that way. If he is in the protocol, the protocol is clearly defined and has 5 stages that he must move through over a period of days. At the end of all of it, even if the KC team physicians clear him to play, he must get further approval from an independent neurologist assigned to the team. Could that ind. neurologist be in on the scam? Does he/she live and work in the KC area? Is he/she a Chiefs fan that would like to see Mahomes play? Are they unscrupulous with a disregard for the code of ethics they swore to uphold as a medical professional? Who knows. I'll suggest the ind. neurologist will do what is right, and if he/she sees that it is not, Mahomes will not be cleared to play. If he is cleared to play, as mentioned before, he is going to have a very unusual week of partial practice which has to benefit the Bills to some degree. He is also putting himself in danger of getting another concussion by playing so soon. The Bills should send everyone early in the game and try to get him removed from the game.
  11. Whatever amount of blood was cut off, it was for a millisecond. Watch it again in real speed. He suffered a concussion from a violent deceleration of his head and quite clearly did not know where he was after the play was over. Lost all balance as well. His own linemen were looking in his eyes and gesturing to medical staff "He's not right, get out here." This BS about a nerve is the KC cover story IMO to try and get him around the concussion protocol. HERE IS THE KEY: As far as we know, he is STILL in the protocol! They can call it what they want, but he is going to have to convince an independent neurologist that he is OK to go before he plays in the game. He is also likely to have a very abnormal and incomplete week of practice which is another benefit to the Bills, even if he does play on Sunday.
  12. Absolutely not! That sentiment is idiotic. I'd rather guarantee safe passage to the Super Bowl. If you want to beat the best, just remember we are going to have to play (probably) Aaron Rodgers and a lights out GB team. You can enjoy the "challenge" of that.
  13. We need a journalist to actually do some journalism and talk to medical personnel at the Chiefs to get some clarification. Andy Reid is clearly not a neurologist. Here's his quote after the game on Sunday: “He got hit in the back of the head and it kind of knocked the wind out of him and everything else with it, so we took him out,” Reid told reporters on Sunday afternoon, via Yahoo Sports’ Terez Paylor. “He’s doing great right now, which is a real positive as we looked at this. [He] passed all the deals that he needed to pass. So, we’ll see where it goes from here.” Thanks Andy! He got the wind knocked out of him but now he passed some deals.
  14. This is a cover story of sorts. No, he didn't hit his head. His head violently accelerated and then decelerated causing enough inertia for his brain to smack the inside of his skull. Which is how concussion work. If it was a "nerve" and he was just "out of it" why is he in CONCUSSION PROTOCOL now? He should be cleared to play as the nerve issue is over now. He's in the protocol b/c he got a concussion. The fact that he moved through Phase 1 means nothing. He has a long way to go and he has to clear an independent neurologist before he can play. KC is clearly pushing him in the "oh, he's fine" direction. Let's hope the ind. neurologist does their job. In 29 QB concussions from 2015-2019, the MEDIAN return time was 7 days. Some shorter some much longer.
  15. This is the cover story! I'm serious. They are saying he HAS A CONCUSSION. But then they are saying he doesn't have a concussion b/c he just tweeked a nerve and it made him dizzy for a moment. It can't be both. If it was a nerve/loss of O2 for a moment, he wouldn't be in CONCUSSION protocol. He would have just sat out the game b/c he was dizzy for a while. Keep in mind Mahomes moving through one or more of the early phases of the protocol doesn't mean he will play on Sunday. And then there's this from the Athletic: "According to The Athletic, the median time for the 29 quarterbacks who suffered a concussion between 2015-2019 to return was seven days. But that's just the central length among the sampling of 29, which includes both longer and shorter absences."
  16. I swear to God, there is a certain type of Bills fan that absolutely DEMANDS a total lack of respect from everyone and everything around them! They just can't function without it!
  17. I watched it over tons of times and I just don't think that makes sense (the loss of breathing). You never saw an impact to the head because there wasn't one. Watch the video again and watch for a violent and sudden deceleration of his head instead. His head whipped toward the ground but never hit it. It still whipped down and STOPPED, largely b/c his head is attached to his body and there are limits to the mobility of his neck. There was still a ton of inertia there and plenty of chance for his brain to slam into the skull. The whole thing was over so quickly and he was at the limit of his mobility so briefly I just don't buy that he lost enough oxygen for enough time to become woozy and dizzy. I think he had a more traditional concussion, though you can be sure KC will try to play up the "he lost some oxygen for a moment, he's fine" angle in the media wars. Let's just pray the independent medial expert does his/her job. If I am right and it was a traditional concussion, we have an outstanding shot at him NOT playing in the game Sunday. It's too soon relative to how MOST of these play out. Mahomes has also had a similar concussion some years ago, so this is not his first. That may add to his healing time too. In fact, it should, but it's very hard to predict these things.
  18. I get that the OP is being facetious, but this thread relates to another general point about the team right now. When times are bad and everything is in upheaval, it is really interesting and there is a lot to talk about as a sports fan. When the team is playing like this, there is almost nothing to talk about and it is not nearly as interesting. But it's also a lot more fun. I've been through this before when we were going to Super Bowls and when my Red Sox started winning World Series in the 2000s. You have to pick: interesting and getting killed; boring but fun. I think we all prefer the latter, ultimately.
  19. Having watched the replay tons of times, I don't think Zimmer touched the pass. He definitely got down the field fast though.
  20. This is an interesting question, and I think there is a good conversation to be had based on this foundation. But for now, it's too early. I would need to see this team win a SB first and then reflect on my feelings. I think it is quite possible the previous SB teams would diminished slightly in stature in comparison, at least in my mind. But I'm not positive right now.
  21. Nah. Drink responsibly. Josh will take whichever big endorsement his agent can get him.
  22. He looked like a man who was walking off the field for the last time after the game tonight. He was looking up, waving to fans, and even took 1 last look back over his shoulder before he disappeared into the tunnel.
  23. Unfortunately my time buffer ran out, so I'm caught up to real time. Going to go do something else to get it back; I can't sit through the halftime show or the commercials, it kills me.
