Only thing I disagree with in the article is that Allen was “comedically bad” during his first few starts. While he was never effective, he looked very similar to where many raw rookie QB’s when start before they are ready. Also when he returned from injury, I would argue that he was more than “marginally” better. There was a big improvement

You can’t take a lot from preseason but IMO Jones is kind of looking like Mahomes did during his first few preseasons games.

I know the reason why. It’s because people in WNY primarily only care about the Bills. The Sabres are a distant, distant, distant second. Also WGR pays to broadcast their games on radio so they are motivated to try to promote both teams. They could talk about UB but no one would care. The interest on a large scale just isn’t there. They also could talk national sports, which they do a little, but their niche is local radio. There are a million other outlets you can listen to for that. I think that overall the station is pretty good. I can’t stand Schopp but he gets ratings so who am I to argue

This article makes very little sense. Who makes future projections based on preseason football? Didn’t Murray face the same depleted and “vanilla” defense that Allen did?

He is? Because he had 8 receptions last season. That would place him 4th on the team among Tight Ends behind Logan Thomas who nearly doubled O’Leary’s production. He’s essentially a 3rd string TE and to see people legitimately pine for him was laughable. Seems like that’s the plan!

From what I read, Rosen made some good throws when he had time. The problem is that Miami has Jordan Mills starting at RT which means he won’t get much time. He doesn’t deal well with pressure and lacks the athleticism to evade the rush. Remember when O’Leary caught 1 NFL TD and people here were legit saying “we never should have gotten rid of O’Leary.” ????

Wow....but what I don't understand is why Kelly was only 1 of 3 players who weren’t part of the NFLPA. It makes me wonder why. Also I thought you had to join as a player. One my favorite (no Bills) teams were the Houston Oilers. Awesome QB on Moon and I love the run-and-shoot group of 4 WR’s Jefferies, Givens, Drew Hill, and Curtis Duncan. Also Leonard White was like a smaller Okoye and he was an awesome pass catcher

One of my early football memories was playing Tecmo Super Bowl on my NES. As a Bills fan I always wondered why Jim Kelly was QB Bills. I later looked it up and apparently he was not listed because Kelly was not a member of the NFLPA at the time the deal with Tecmo was made. The same situation with Bernie “QB Browns” Kosar and Randall “QB Eagles” Cunningham. Also I remember a few year later that all the big QB’s in the league (including Kelly, Kosar and Cunningham) we’re trying to start their own brand The QB Club and sold merch like hats, t-shirts, and a few kind of crappy video games. My question is was the deal with Kelly and he NFLPA? Why was he not a member in 1991 and was the attempt to start the QB Club a way to get merchandising without having the NFLPA (and maybe the NFL) taking their cut? I was not following NFL closely at this time so if you could let me know it would be great!

I’m expecting what a lot of beat reporters and analysts have been predicting. The Bills could be anywhere from a 7 to 9 win team. With a little luck maybe more. But I think what’s most important is that we see improvement from Josh Allen

They were on such a freaking role but they have a ridiculous turnover ratio and the defense was playing lights out. It was bound to catch up with them someday

Personally or as a player? I think he was a serviceable #2 CB but that he never quite lived up to his 1st round selection. He never had better ball skills. He was always stride for stride with a receiver and in good position but couldn’t make a play on the ball. Only had 1-2 INT’s most years despite being picked on quite frequently.

1-3 are hard because I think that Kelly’s grit and toughness epitomized Buffalo and meant more to the Franchise. But I do think that as a player OJ Simpson should be given considering above Kelly only because he was the best running back in football. Now OJ and Bruce are tough. Both men were game changers and transformational players
