Beer prices last night? $14!
Phil The Thrill replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And they let your bring it inside the stadium? -
There were definitely some lowlights: TJ Yeldon’s fumble Russell Bodine - he is terrible and botched a shotgun snap. You can’t have this joker on the roster Vladimir Ducasse - awful game vs 3rd string starters. Should not be on the team Deon Lacey - was noticeably bad on the field and struggled in pass coverage Cory and Corey the punters were not too good. Tyree Jackson looked like an undrafted rookie QB. Might not make the practice squad but he is huge

Defensively the Bills look really good. Both 1st and 2nd teams played very well. Ed Oliver was noticeable quite a bit early, as was Shaq Lawson. It was a night of ups and down for Josh Allen though you can argue that Zay Jones dropped what should have been a TD. Barkley played well bs 2nd and 3rd Teams Christian Wade’s run was the surprise of the night.

Collection of Josh Allen Feedback from Camp

Oddly enough, old Thad Brown is the only reporter to report that Josh was “uncomfortably inaccurate:” Yet Joe Buscaglia had a much different take and called it a “strong” performance. -
OT - GateHouse Media buys Gannett
Phil The Thrill replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sorry to hear this. I do feel for the respected local journalists like Sal and Leo who have worked in Rochester for decades and now have some uncertainty about their job and profession late in their career. Is everyone freaking out? -
OT - GateHouse Media buys Gannett
Phil The Thrill replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Ok I get it. I read a tweet that shared that Gatehouse believes they can save $275-$300M through this merger. I’m am assuming a big part of the savings are going to come from cutting staff. -

I don’t get it - why would this change anything? Newspapers will still need regional content -
Barnwell's 5 Teams Most Likely to Improve in 2019
Phil The Thrill replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill “Thin Skin” Barnwell. I won’t ever listen to an interview or read his work. He’s one of those journalists who can criticize but can’t take criticism -
Ed Oliver - Rookie Orientation Podcast
Phil The Thrill replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some observers said that at times, it appeared Oliver was the best the player on the field in practice -
Wrong! Some people have assumed that his work is covered under fair use. But my guess is that very few of us are copyright lawyers specializing in IP on the internet. Just because Turner or and fans of Cover 1 want that to be true, it doesn’t mean it’s a certainty. Fair use is a defense that really has never been used effectively in court. My take is that if the NFL wanted to take down Cover 1, they could. So what is a fact, is that Cover 1’s use of proprietary footage from the NFL is a gray area in terms of copyright. This has been my experience as well. If you don’t agree with his opinion, he’ll block you.

Not everyone has had as great of an experience with Turner as you have. A few of the people in this thread can vouch for that. Regardless, I don’t recall anyone wishing him “ill will,” as you put it. There seems to be 2 different topics associated in this thread? 1. Should the Bills give Cover 1 media access? 2. Is Cover 1’s excessive use of NFL footage an infringement of copyright? No one really trashed Turner or Cover 1. In fact, most of the comments are largely complimentary. I agree with you that for the most part, there’s a pretty good community there. I’m on the fence about the whole media credentials issue

WR battle heading into first preseason game
Phil The Thrill replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think they keep 5. If Roberts is getting work at WR, I can see them keeping Ray Ray because he can takeover as a returner - though he was atrocious last season -
Willis McGahee retiring as a Raven
Phil The Thrill replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not really. It was a bad pick when the team had Travis Henry. McGahee was a decent RB about never at the level where you could justify the pick The value they received for Willis was really not great. The Bills makeshift front office was just as incompetent in 2007 as they were in 2010 under Buddy Nix. By the time they wanted to trade Willis, they have zero leverage and everyone knew it and lowballed them with offers. So they had to take the best of the worst offers and probably should have done a little better. The same happened with Marshawn Lynch, and the return that Nix got for him was flat out disgusting. Plus Marshawn went on to be an All-Pro. Buddy seems to be regarded as an “okay” to “good” GM by the fan base which is comical. He was really bad, maybe worse than Russ Brandon!!! -
Fair use is very much gray area. Find out many court cases on copyright have been won with fair use as a defense...not many. I do agree with your assessment about Cover 1 not being big enough for the NFL to spend any time, effort or money over. I think they simply don’t care enough to take action. The Bills on the other hand probably don’t want to get heat from the NFL for credentialing a blogger who profits from redistributing their content. Or they just don’t care enough to act. Could be....but Nate knows the Cover 1 guys and essentially covers the Bills (through WGR), so it’s not out of the realm that he be up on the situation. I believe what he said - the Bills are being proactive to comply with the way the NFL wants fo protect their IP

Well I believe there are parameters for media covering the team and I would be shocked if diagraming formations is not included. It’s kind of like a few years ago when the Bills PR staff informed the media about not sharing stats in the preseason. Teams can set guidelines for video/coverage. I think that Cover 1 was looking more for player and coach access and maybe press box access. I believe what Geary said and that the Bills might have been more
